"I really ought to have a word with Dumbledore. Professor Kayson clearly isn't at Hogwarts, yet his office keeps making these bizarre noises, as if someone's throwing things inside."
On the way to Professor McGonagall's office with the four Gryffindors, Mr. Filch happened to pass by Kayson's office.
Listening to the strange sounds inside, Mr. Filch sighed.
"Could something have gone wrong with one of Professor Kayson's alchemical items?"
Mr. Filch paused, then shook his head after a moment. "Even so, we should tell Dumbledore first. Don't tell me you lot know anything about alchemy too."
"Actually, I know a little about alchemy..." Hermione began, only for Mr. Filch to cut her off. "Even then, your alchemy can't compare to Professor Kayson's, understand? That lamp he gave me last time is still lit to this day. It's been more than half a term, and it hasn't even needed more fuel..."
Hermione nodded. "Mr. Filch, I completely understand your respect for Professor Kayson, but listen. Isn't that sound a little too strange?"
Mr. Filch frowned and finally pressed his ear against the office door.

"That sound is terrifying. I'm going to find Dumbledore. You stay here and wait for me. Don't even think about running. If you really do run away, I'll have to go to Professor McGonagall and demand she hand you over!" Mr. Filch threatened the four young wizards viciously before hurrying toward Dumbledore's office.
"So... should we run? I heard George and Fred say that one of Hogwarts' unwritten rules is that if you break a rule but don't get caught, there's no punishment," Ron suggested.
"I'm sorry, but I've heard something similar too. We've already been caught, though." Hermione shook her head regretfully.
