Greenhouse Ruins.
Ground Floor.
The place where the players had once fought bloodily had now become a lush botanical garden. The soilless cultivation boxes were filled with corn, stacked like shipping containers in layer upon layer.
The situation here had been truly brutal back then.
The first guy who went in, Paddling Bro, had only had his VM brought back. The second wave had nearly been wiped out too. It wasn't until Mole developed the "shield wall strategy" that they finally broke through.
But later on, everyone's equipment improved, and farming this dungeon became much easier.
Old White, clad in heavy armor, stood at the front and tanked the hits while the players in the back simply raised their submachine guns and unleashed magazines of 9mm rounds.
Hit people?
What did it matter?
9mm pistol rounds couldn't penetrate steel plates anyway. At most, they left a few dents in the metal.
Those large-caliber, low-velocity rounds were exceptionally effective against unarmored insect-type mutants.
Their bellies were filled with water and goo to begin with. A 7mm round might only punch a hole in them, but a 9mm round could blow them apart outright.
After the ground floor had been cleared, Chu Guang immediately issued missions and had the players plant corn there.
Three months had now passed—a total of over ninety days—and each emerald stalk was already hung with golden ears wrapped in leaves.
Looking at the mature cornfield before him, Chu Guang wore a smile like a proud old father and nodded approvingly.
"Good work!"
The seeds supplied by the shelter had been genetically modified, so they grew relatively quickly.
Corn in the real world took a hundred days to mature even for early-ripening varieties, but here, ninety days was enough.
Right.
He had nearly forgotten the real business.
