Shen Yi glanced at him, then at Xilos and Winnie beside him, signaling to them. "Wait here for a moment."
Xilos and Winnie both nodded.
Shen Yi followed Alvin out of the room, and the two of them arrived at a relatively secluded passage inside the stronghold, built from cold metal.
The moment they left the room's range, Alvin raised one of his arms, forged from precision machinery. An invisible force of rules quietly spread out, instantly laying down a heavy rule barrier around the two of them, one that cut off all probing from inside and out.
This barrier not only isolated sound and energy fluctuations, it even interfered with and blurred prying at the soul level.
After they entered the barrier, Alvin's focus landed directly on Shen Yi. The intent transmitted through his magnetic field was grave and direct, even carrying a rare trace of anxiety.
"Shen Yi, was what I told you before about those six Authority Holders still not clear enough? Or do you think Winnie is truly so important to you that she's worth taking such a tremendous risk for?"
Hearing this, Shen Yi fell silent for a moment.
Among the women around him, in terms of feelings or the time they had spent together, Winnie perhaps could not be called especially important. She could not compare to Murong Xue, Long Aoshuang, and the others who had followed him earliest, and she might not even match Fei Mi, who had accompanied him along the way and whose personality suited his tastes better.
But she was indeed a companion he had brought out from Blue Star. They had traveled together until now, and trust had long since formed between them.
More importantly, she was now one of his women. Shen Yi acknowledged that in his heart.
