Background

Gao Shaohui is the late-born son of the Gao Family patriarch and one of three direct descendants of his generation. He is exceptionally talented and highly favored within the family, though he shows little interest in status or succession. His siblings include Gao Yuanxun and Gao Manqiu. 1105 1837

The Gao Family is one of China’s Mysterious Families and was influential in the early establishment of Shangjing Base. Gao Shaohui first appears publicly at a Shangjing meeting as the family’s young master, where he casually notes that the Bai Family is equally significant. 686

Gao Shaohui is initially carefree, impatient, and openly dismissive of political posturing. During the Shangjing meeting, he yawns through the proceedings, demands quiet, and does not even know who Chu Han is despite the meeting’s assassination discussion. 686

He is excitable and eccentric, often speaking rapidly, proposing barbecues in dangerous situations, and becoming absorbed in whatever catches his interest.
