The pirate was just about to pull the trigger when a faint sound echoed. An invisible bullet tore through the air, piercing his wrist.
"Ah!"
The pirate screamed, recoiling as if electrocuted. Blood splattered as the pistol flew from his grasp into the sky.
The spinning pistol landed on the ground and was casually kicked away by a black leather shoe.
Ulti, terrified, turned her head and saw a boy walking towards her, backlit by the sun.
She froze, staring blankly at the approaching figure.
Ian retracted his right hand and looked at the little girl on the ground, and the little boy lying not far from her. He let out a sigh of relief.
That was too close.
Just a little more, and two of the future Tobi Roppo members would have been lost.
You could say the pirates on Hachinosu Island are quite friendly.
After Ian asked his question and released a bit of Conqueror's Haki as a gesture of goodwill, a pirate answered him.
He told Ian about the current situation of Ulti and her brother, and the area they had been active in recently.
Ian rushed over immediately, grabbing a few passing pirates on the way for a "friendly chat" before finally finding them here.
I guess I arrived just in time, a bit of a last-minute rescue.
But is this a butterfly effect?
If I had been any later, Ulti would have died.
But in the original story, this stubborn girl was perfectly fine.
No.
Ian immediately thought of the truly logical explanation.
The reason is, if it weren't for me, someone else would have come. They wouldn't have taken a detour and would have definitely arrived faster?
Thinking this, Ian couldn't help but glance at Yamato.
If I hadn't made it in time and these siblings had actually died, this girl would bear the greatest responsibility.
Yamato, of course, had no such realization. She was just curiously observing the siblings on the ground.
The sister's hair was in strands, thick ones blue, thin ones pink, looking very peculiar. Her eyes were large and round, and she was currently staring blankly at Ian.
The brother wore a mask like his sister, but he also had a hat on, covering almost his entire face.
Like Yamato and Black Maria, the siblings had a pair of horns growing on their foreheads.
"Ian, is it them?" Yamato asked.
"It should be."
Ian stepped forward. "You are Joseph's daughter and son, right? We were sent by your father's friends to pick you up. Come back with us."
Ulti's eyes instantly widened even further.
She knows!
Dad, before he died, held my hand and told me he asked his friends to adopt us!
Is this handsome big brother the one who came to get them?
"Brat! No matter who you are! These two brats have to die!"
The pirate whose wrist had been pierced clutched his hand and roared furiously, "No one can stop me! I mean it!"
"Attack them all! Take them down!"
The other pirates charged towards Ian.
"Big brother, be careful!"
Ulti instinctively cried out a warning.
Big brother just saved her.
Ian, however, simply raised his hand, his right hand, extending a single finger, his index finger.
He lightly tapped the air with his right index finger.
Pat, pat, pat, pat.
With a few light sounds, the pirates collapsed to the ground.
A wound had appeared in the center of each of their chests, as if they had been shot by a bullet.
"I told you, it's not good for adults to bully children."
I'm also a child, only thirteen this year.
"Finger Pistol!"
Jack exclaimed in admiration, "As expected of Brother Ian! The power is even greater than a real firearm!"
"Wh-what--?"
The pirate clutching his wrist instantly turned pale. "Just who are you--Ah!"
He didn't notice that behind him, the little girl he had just knocked down had gotten back up. She picked up a pirate cutlass that had fallen nearby and stabbed him in the lower back from behind.
"Brat--!"
The pirate cried out in pain and spun around, flinging Ulti away. But before he could do anything else, Ulti grabbed the flintlock pistol that Ian had kicked away.
"Die!"
She fired.
Bang! A bloody hole appeared on the pirate's forehead, and his body went limp as he collapsed.
Haa--Haa--Haa--
Ulti was still shaken, breathing heavily. Her hands remained stiffly raised, still holding the gun as she stared intently at the pirate on the ground.
Only when she was finally sure he was dead did a smile of excitement spread across the girl's face.
"Waaaaah!!"
The young boys who had been leading them finally let out belated screams, scrambling and crawling in a panic to escape.
"You're all going to die!"
Ulti charged at them, one hand with a knife, the other with a gun.
Two shots, two slashes, and the noisy boys instantly learned to be quiet.
"Haha!"
After eliminating all her enemies, Ulti couldn't help but burst into laughter.
Anyone who wanted to hurt her, or hurt Little Pei, would die!
Ian's lips twitched as he watched.
She's only seven years old. You have to admit, she's more like Teacher Kai's daughter than Yamato in the original story.
This must be the innate Holy Body of the Beasts Pirates, with her Bloodthirsty stat maxed out.
"Haha, she's so funny!"
Yamato commented with a grin.
Well, when it comes to bloodlust, our Yamato isn't any less.
"So,"
Black Maria said with a smile, "you're the ones we've been looking for, right?"
"Joseph,"
Ulti sniffled, her large eyes narrowing as her eyebrows drooped. "That's Dad's name. He said he'd ask a friend to adopt me and Little Pei."
"Then you're the ones,"
Ian pretended to believe her. "Come on, let's go back."
"Okay!"
The little girl nodded happily. She picked up her weak brother again. They were finally safe!
She looked up at Ian, blinking. "What's your name, big brother? I'm Ulti!" She gestured to her brother on her back. "Little Pei is Page One!"
"I'm Ian."
Ian introduced himself, then patted Yamato's shoulder. "This is Yamato, and behind her are Black Maria and Jack."
"I'm Yamato!"
Yamato repeated with a wide grin.
"I'm Black Maria, little Ulti."
Maria seemed to really like Ulti, smiling.
Jack, as usual, was indifferent, just standing there quietly, playing it cool.
"Ian?"
The little girl murmured, then tilted her head up and called out happily, "Brother Ian!"
Ian raised an eyebrow.
Ian, brother?
This was a completely new experience.
"Me too, me too!"
Yamato shamelessly butted in, pointing at her own face. "I'm Sister Yamato!"
No one had ever called her 'sister' before either.
Ulti pouted.
"Brother Ian is the savior of Page One and me! Who are you?"
"Huh?"
Yamato blinked.
"What did I ever do wrong to make you disrespect me so much? Not even willing to call me 'sister'?"
"In any case,"
Ian clapped his hands, drawing everyone's attention. "Let's go back."
"You want to just go back like this?"
A cold voice suddenly cut through the air.
Ian turned his head.
On the wall to the side, the tall, thin man he had just seen was standing silently.
The man looked down at Ian and the others, speaking to himself, "I should have made it clear just now. Boss Ochoku doesn't want you causing trouble here."
"So, kid, can you tell me? What were you doing just now?"
Ian turned back, looked at the scattered corpses, and then surveyed the surrounding pirates with strange expressions.
He raised his head and looked at the praying mantis-like man. "Just self-defense."
"You should follow the rules of wherever you go. Even children know that."
The praying mantis leaped lightly from the wall, as ethereal as a willow leaf. "Even the Beasts Pirates are no excuse for you to break Boss Ochoku's rules."
Ian raised his hand and loosened his collar button. "So, what do you want to say?"
"For disobedient brats, you have to teach them a lesson."
