Background and History
Kaido's Wano-based crew
The Beasts Pirates were originally led by Kaido and based at Onigashima in Wano Country. They fielded thousands of pirates against Kozuki Oden and the Nine Red Scabbards during the conflict for Wano. 19
Ian became central to the crew while still a child. By age eight, he had become Wano's ruler and was already considered, alongside Yamato, part of the Beasts Pirates' future. 12 38 Under his administration, Wano's samurai class was eliminated through a sword-confiscation decree, while land enclosure displaced farmers into towns, factories, and mines. 41 Workers in Beasts Pirates-controlled factories and mines were described as being treated like slaves. 35
Wano was remade into the crew's industrial center. Mining, steel, manufacturing, construction, and weapons production expanded rapidly; surplus weapons were eventually sold overseas through contacts such as Umit. 39 41 Despite the social upheaval, Wano remained broadly stable, and later visitors described it as modern and prosperous. 41 94
Expansion and modernization
The crew expanded outward from Wano by annexing nearby islands, offering its flag to willing territories and using force against those that resisted. Its campaigns combined bombers, fierce beasts, and the Fish-Man Unit, while airports were built across controlled islands to sustain overseas air operations. 120
By this period, the headquarters alone exceeded 50,000 personnel, while the Fish-Man Unit exceeded 10,000 members; the crew's total strength approached 100,000. 120 The Beasts Pirates also gained vassals and allied forces, including Amazon Lily, Fish-Man Island's Sun Pirates, and the Vinsmoke Family. 85 108 197
The staged split and reunification
World Government efforts to exploit Ian's rising prestige created public expectations that he would challenge Kaido for leadership. Nearly half of the pirates on Onigashima chose Ian's side during a staged internal war between the master and disciple. 132 179
The split produced two geographically separate factions: Kaido's Wano-based force and Ian's Hachinosu-based force. Ian departed with more than 10,000 followers to garrison and develop the Hachinosu region. 182 183
The division ended when Ian defeated Kaido decisively. Kaido accepted the result and passed the captaincy to his disciple, reuniting every major faction of the crew under Ian. 260 261
Conquest of the New World
After repelling the World Government's all-out operation, the Beasts Pirates forced the Government to abandon the New World. Ian then ordered the occupation of the entire sea, with King advancing from Wano and Solemn and Bear leading a second force through former Whitebeard territory. 271 272
Over the following years, the crew established bases throughout the New World, absorbed capable surrendering pirates, and purged those who resisted or were deemed unworthy. The region became heavily controlled and notably safer from ordinary pirate activity. 288 312

Forces and Assets
Artificial Devil Fruit Army
The Beasts Pirates partnered with Judge and the Vinsmoke Family to create Artificial Devil Fruits from the Lineage Factors of Ruskeina Island's fierce beasts. 85 126
- The fruits provide physical enhancement comparable to ordinary Zoan Devil Fruits, though users cannot freely switch forms. 183
- The first production batch contained 100 fruits, with later manufacturing scaled up. 183
- Giants who consumed the fruits became Beast Giants; 28 giants transformed after the first distribution. 183
- By Kuzan's arrival, the crew had thousands of Artificial Devil Fruit users, including many giants. 281
- Queen developed a serum that can drive controlled beasts and Artificial Devil Fruit users berserk for further amplification. 281
Beast Legion
The Beast Legion consists of ferocious creatures captured from Ruskeina Island and other sources.
- Individual beasts were strong enough to overwhelm ordinary pirate crews and severely injure fighters such as Arlong. 117
- The legion was used alongside air strikes to repel the Sun Pirates during their attempted infiltration of Wano. 117
- Beast-derived Lineage Factors became the basis for the crew's Artificial Devil Fruits. 126
- Beast troops could be deployed against rival crews in mass assaults, causing major casualties through their sheer size and strength. 129
Air and naval warfare
- Bombers and aircraft — Drake's flight division uses prototype aircraft and bombs to strike enemies from above. 117
- Airports — Constructed across controlled islands to extend bomber range and secure regional air superiority. 120
- Sea Beasts — Used as naval escorts, blockades, and mobile platforms. 117 289
- Fish-Man Unit — Provides underwater mobility, escort capability, and direct anti-ship combat. 120 209
