On the last day of October, an envoy from the Royal Noble Council arrived in Wheat Fragrance Territory.

He had come to issue the enfeoffment decree.

Godric had submitted Li Ang's frontier territory verification report early—Godric's review had been remarkably perfunctory, practically an open display of backroom dealing. He had not even come to inspect the place...

And he had indeed sent a group of archers to "assist Wheat Fragrance Territory in protecting its caravans."

But Li Ang always felt that Lord Baron had sent them to keep an eye on him, afraid he would run off with the money—the archer leading them seemed to be the very one who had "escorted" him to White Deer Fortress last time.

Of course, the lord had no intention of running away. And Wheat Fragrance Territory had actually developed quite well; even if it underwent a strict inspection, it would pass.

Before a crowd of merchants and a small group of subjects, Li Ang was about to become a true baron.

The reason he was only "about to" become one was that he had to swear fealty before the king for the title to officially take effect.

The face-to-face oath of fealty was a mandatory procedure.

"Lord Li Ang Griffin has rendered great service in expanding the kingdom's lands, defending its borders, and protecting its people. It is proposed that Lord Li Ang be enfeoffed as Baron of Wheat Fragrance Territory. Please hold this decree and immediately seek an audience with His Majesty the King."

After reading those words, the Royal Noble Council's envoy handed the scroll in his hand to Li Ang.

The scroll was sealed with the Royal Noble Council's seal, while the crest on its cover was a silver-foil Fleur-de-lis. It did not look ornate at all.
