"People are already exchanging them for food. Looks like the first thing everyone wants... is still food."
"You've never gone hungry, so you don't know what food means to people. Fighting over a little food isn't uncommon. Remember that cannibalistic No. 9 Villas? The people there ate food at first, too."
Shen Jin thought it over carefully. It seemed he had never gone hungry since the apocalypse began.
When the virus first broke out, Shen Jin hid at home. As a fat shut-in, he had enough food stored to last a month or so without any trouble. Then he acquired the Blockify Ability, and his first thought was to dig tunnels to get supplies. He soon found lots and lots of food, especially in the cold storage at the large port. Steaks, chicken, fish, and so on-there was no shortage of anything.
Later, worried that something might happen and leave him stranded outside, Shen Jin always carried a stack of Beef Jerky and a stack of Compressed Biscuits. So even when he and Shang Qian ended up stranded in D City, he still hadn't gone hungry.
"Seems like... I really haven't gone hungry, huh."
Shang Qian rolled her eyes at Shen Jin. "Did you put enough food in the [Trade-O-Mats]? Especially the one that dispenses one jin of rice."
"Relax, relax. I had them pack it all night last night. They've already prepared sixty thousand jin of food in small portions."
Last night, Shen Jin had found a box of plastic bags among the supplies he had stockpiled in the "Mystic 2" general storage warehouse.
He had brought them back from a plastic bag factory, and they had been sitting in the warehouse ever since. He hadn't expected them to come in handy for packing small bags of food yesterday.
