Background
Before the apocalypse, Shang Qian was a senior Wanyu Group executive. She had a master’s degree and was known within the company for her cool, proud demeanor and management ability. Shen Jin later reveals that she had argued with the chairman over a personnel vote on his behalf, an act he remembers as a favor worth repaying. 21 23
Her objection was actually motivated by disagreement with the company’s hiring policy rather than a personal attachment to Shen Jin, and it did not change the outcome of the vote. Nevertheless, his gratitude becomes an important reason for his intervention during the Wanyu crisis. 21
She also had a reputation for defending female employees who encountered unfair treatment or sexual coercion. Qi Tong and Li Jie remember her as both a professional role model and a protector. 213
After Wanyu Group’s building became infested with zombies, Shang Qian led the more than twenty survivors barricaded on the third floor. She directed them to inspect and reinforce the blocked stairwells, maintained morale by insisting that government rescue would come, and preserved her authority through her former prestige and practical management tactics. 7
She collected and rationed the group’s food and water in an effort to sustain the survivors. However, Lu Qiang discovered that his ration had been reduced and interpreted the food ledger as proof that Shang Qian had deceived him, driving his revolt against her. 12
Before the apocalypse, her career frequently kept her away from home over the New Year. As the first Lunar New Year after the outbreak approaches, she regrets not having visited her parents for a long time. 301
Appearance
Shang Qian is described as a strikingly attractive woman whose appearance combines the youthful delicacy of someone in her twenties with the poise of a woman in her thirties. Even amid the apocalypse, she remains meticulously dressed and notably clean. 7 23
- Delicate yet firm facial features. 7
- Curvy, full figure. 7
- Red lips, white teeth, slender waist, and long hair secured with prominent hair clips. 22 24
- Carries herself with the composed bearing of an urban professional, though this façade weakens after the Wanyu Group crisis. 21
- Later wears black-framed, lensless glasses while handling administrative matters. 308 361
- In combat, wears tungsten steel alloy armor and later receives Quantum Armor for protection during her travels between bases. 182 520
Personality
Shang Qian is intelligent, composed, and accustomed to taking responsibility. During the Wanyu Group siege, she remains focused on rationing supplies, maintaining barriers, and giving the trapped employees enough hope to follow her leadership. 7 12
Her confidence is shattered by Lu Qiang’s attack and by the realization that her appearance makes her vulnerable in the new world. Rather than remaining in the Wanyu building, she pragmatically chooses to seek safety with Shen Jin, whom she identifies as both capable and dependable. 17 21
She is highly observant but often overinterprets incomplete information. After seeing Shen Jin and Sun Can together, she becomes convinced that they are lovers and mistakes Shen Jin’s ambiguous replies as confirmation. This misunderstanding nevertheless helps her empathize with Shen Jin and motivates her to seek his acceptance. 22 23 26
Once settled in Shen Jin’s home, Shang Qian regains much of her former warmth and initiative. She cooks for the group, bonds with Li Moxiao over romance films, organizes games intended to help the household understand one another, and provides measured advice during discussions of territory expansion. 28 31 33
Her professional confidence returns as she takes responsibility for settlement management. She wants to prove her value through useful work rather than merely depend on Shen Jin’s protection, and she is willing to enforce unpopular rules when necessary. Although disturbed by Yang Ao’s violent punishment of Ma Sanxiong, she continues implementing a system of duties, rewards, and penalties. 52
She can be exceptionally decisive under pressure. During the destruction of the original settlement, she gambles on an unfinished serum and later risks her life to teleport Shen Jin to safety. She subsequently distinguishes this act of repayment and resolve from the romantic love she develops for him during their time together in D City. 75 81 167
Shang Qian does not naturally seek martial power for its own sake. She eventually concludes that administration is her greatest contribution and initially considers solving Home No. 1’s currency problems more rewarding than advancing her rank. Nevertheless, she becomes visibly delighted after experiencing the benefits of Tier 2. 303
In her relationship with Shen Jin, she is affectionate, trusting, and occasionally jealous. She respects his unwillingness to explain certain secrets and focuses instead on protecting him and supporting their shared goals. Her willingness to remain near dangerous battles is tempered by an agreement to retreat before her equipment’s protection is exhausted. 101 122 187 541
Abilities & Skills
Leadership and Management
Shang Qian has strong organizational instincts developed through her work at Wanyu Group.
- Directed survivors to reinforce the third-floor stairwell barricades. 7
- Maintained authority among the Wanyu survivors through her reputation and management methods. 7
- Managed food and water distribution during the siege. 12
- Uses structured conversation games to assess personalities and build familiarity within Shen Jin’s group. 33
- Tends to seek balanced, low-risk decisions; in board games, she consistently makes optimal choices and rarely loses by much. 33
- Identifies equal compensation regardless of effort, powerless team leaders, unclear deadlines, and the absence of rewards and punishments as major flaws in the early settlement’s management. 52
- Establishes temporary settlement rules, penalizes workers who shirk their duties, and rewards responsible team leaders. Yang Ao formally announces her appointment to manage the settlement. 52
- Proposes expansion into the eastern factory complex, using its buildings and dormitories to accommodate survivors and its fertilizer plant to support future agricultural self-sufficiency. 64
- Selects trusted recruits for the Female Boss Squad, requires a loyalty pledge, and appoints Zheng Ying captain with Miao Shubai supporting her. 137
- Organizes recruitment and assigns Superhuman captains to oversee the saltworks, fertilizer factory, auto repair shop, electricity bureau, and clothing factory. She also plans a census and expanded employment across Home No. 1. 257
- Creates a delegated administrative structure that can function during her absence, with Li Jie handling internal administration, Old Wang handling human resources, financial specialists managing currency, and trained managers supervising factories. 381
- Oversees the integration of prices, trade practices, public welfare, and industrial recovery between Home No. 1 and Red Water Bay Base, later traveling among three bases as Home No. 1 expands. 504 520
Social Perception
Shang Qian studies people’s preferences, fears, and behavior to protect herself and navigate group dynamics.
- Previously used Arthur Aron’s Thirty-Six Questions to understand employees. 33
- Recognizes the danger of relying solely on appearances or professional status after the apocalypse. 21
- Admits that she failed to properly assess Lu Qiang because he rarely spoke to her and she did not investigate the background of a security guard. 33
- Her deductions can become excessive, particularly regarding Shen Jin and Sun Can’s relationship. 22 23 26
- Begins reconsidering her assumptions about Shen Jin’s sexuality after Su Lele arrives for a private massage, then wonders whether he brought her home out of romantic interest. 64
- Recognizes the strategic potential of Wu Yong’s creation ability, arguing that its versatility could make him a future core of the team. 199
- Suggests recruiting Lu Daizhen and later works with her, Shen Jin, and Yang Ao to screen reserve Superhumans for loyalty and honesty through concealed Mind Reading. 283 316
- Acknowledges that equipment granting extraordinary construction and dismantling capabilities can also threaten the base if entrusted to the wrong people. 308
Cooking and Household Work
After joining Shen Jin’s household, Shang Qian establishes herself as the group’s primary cook.
- Volunteers to cook after Shen Jin and Yang Ao’s missions. 28
- Prepares meals and breakfast for Shen Jin, Li Moxiao, and Yang Ao. 30 31 41
- Uses cooking as a practical way to contribute to the household and secure her place within it. 30 41
- Welcomes Shen Jin’s group home with a feast after their rescue mission in Pakistan. 478
Survival Adaptability
Although initially an ordinary survivor, Shang Qian adapts quickly to Shen Jin’s unusual methods and the realities of the apocalypse. Her incomplete awakening later improves her physique even while leaving her unable to use teleportation, and her restored Space-based Ability makes her an important partner in evacuation and infiltration. 81 84 122 534
- Helps retrieve foldable electric bikes for the group’s escape from Wanyu Group. 24
- Follows Shen Jin through his underground tunnel network despite fear and uncertainty. 24 26
- Explores the tunnel system with curiosity, noting its lighting, labels, and unusually precise construction. 26
- Understands that survival requires alliances, choosing to leave Wanyu Group with Shen Jin rather than remain exposed to further danger. 21 23
- Drinks unfinished serum in an attempt to obtain the power needed to help defend the settlement, despite Fu Wei’s warning. 75 83
- Becomes physically capable of defending herself against ordinary zombies after the incomplete awakening. 84
Space-based Ability
Shang Qian’s signature ability allows her to traverse space in flashes of purple energy. Its initial awakening is unstable and nearly fatal, but Shen Jin’s Special Ability Enhancement Potion restores it and makes her a true Tier 1 Superhuman. Its main early value lies in mobility and support rather than direct offense or defense. 81 115 122
| Application | Details |
|---|---|
| Personal teleportation | Can rapidly move between locations, appearing and disappearing in purple light. At Tier 1, she can easily reach the Technology College in D City, estimating approximately five percent of her energy per one-way trip and about ten round trips alone. Her maximum range is not yet established during this test. 122 125 |
| Destination restrictions | Can teleport to places she has previously visited or can currently see. Rescuing Xing Lingmin therefore requires her to physically infiltrate the underground holding area before teleporting the prisoner out. 534 |
| Transporting people and objects | Can carry others through space. Early testing indicates that heavier objects consume more energy and that she cannot transport an object she cannot lift. Higher strength and temporary ability enhancement improve the number of people and distance she can manage. 81 125 410 |
| Battlefield evacuation | Covers retreats, relocates allies away from attacks, and provides access to designated escape routes. Energy Crystal Cores and Senzu Beans help sustain repeated transfers. 152 273 |
| Infiltration and surprise attacks | Can bypass obstacles, appear behind enemies, and extract prisoners. She combines teleportation with close-range sword strikes against zombies. 178 534 |
| Coordinated attacks | Works with Shen Jin’s explosives and construction abilities to create attacks from unexpected directions. She also retrieves Shen Jin and the disarmed Big-Head Zombie onto the defensive wall. 160 163 |
| Spatially empowered strikes | Under a Carrot-induced pseudo-Tier 3 enhancement, can coat her blade in purple spatial power to strengthen an attack. 526 |
| Stable spatial portals | At Tier 3, can open linked purple rings forming a stable point-to-point passage. Limbs or entire people can pass through without requiring her own body to cross first. She demonstrates this with Yang Ao and later uses a portal to return to her office with Shen Jin. 550 |
Her teleportation is not invulnerable to stronger spatial control. In the Nether, the berserk Tier 4 Sun Can locks the surrounding space, preventing her from opening an escape even after she consumes a Special Ability Carrot. Hu Shou is also unable to overcome the lock, forcing the group to flee by flight. 656
Combat Training and Equipment
Shang Qian initially relies on enhanced physical fitness rather than developed martial technique. She can overwhelm ordinary attackers but struggles to contribute against experienced Superhumans, prompting her to observe the Self-Defense Force’s training and practice sword thrusts independently. 85 112 122
- Uses a Tungsten Steel Alloy Sword and matching armor during her early travels with Shen Jin. The armor protects her from an ordinary attacker’s cleaver. 85 103
- Trains assassination techniques with Zhao Chao and drills with the Female Boss Squad, aiming to compensate for her lack of direct offensive and defensive abilities through decisive surprise attacks. 174
- Uses a Diamond Sword and learns Shen Jin’s tactic of placing a cobblestone barrier before stabbing through it. 292
- Receives a Traveler’s Belt with nine storage slots and Traveler’s Gloves, allowing rapid access to stored weapons and block models. 292
- Uses a Jetpack for travel and accompanies Shen Jin on aerial resource-gathering trips. 174 202
- Receives Quantum Armor because her administrative duties require travel through potentially unstable territories, particularly newly reclaimed Gourd City. Its communications module permits contact with other Quantum Armor wearers even without ordinary signal coverage. 520
- Uses Quantum Armor and teleportation together to remain near Tier 3 combat, exerting pressure through possible surprise attacks while conserving power for critical support duties. 541 542
Temporary Metal Elemental Summoning
After Shen Jin advances to Tier 3, he creates a Summoning Fruit by analyzing Tong Zhen’s ability. Shang Qian eats it and temporarily acquires the ability to summon a Metal Elemental while her energy rises beyond peak Tier 2 to pseudo-Tier 3. This is not a permanent Tier 3 breakthrough. 410
- The elemental resembles a golden, life-size Shang Qian and can fly without a Jetpack. 410
- She can control it as naturally as part of her own body. 410
- It can transform into a sword that emits powerful sword energy. 410
- Shen Jin distinguishes it from a genuine Clone Technique; it is not a convincing independent human double. 410
- The fruit functions like a single-use summoning scroll, with the summon able to persist for a time after the initial enhancement ends. 410
Economic Planning and Diplomacy
Shang Qian becomes the principal organizer of Home No. 1’s economic system. She develops a financial team led by Li Wen and supervises a twenty-member group of financial specialists responsible for currency management. 303 361 381
- Finalizes the currency issuance plan and insists on strict implementation, offering advancement-related benefits for good work and threatening consequences for deliberate interference. 361
- Evaluates how Shen Jin’s Trade-O-Mat can support currency circulation by accepting coins and dispensing stored goods. 361
- Gives Ye Fan 50,000 Home Coins during the S City delegation’s visit and recommends inexpensive Bone Armor for ordinary soldiers. 430
- Plans commercial-street development and regulates businesses to prevent malicious competition and unlawful activity. 562
- Favors paid work, differentiated rewards, and market incentives over equal communal distribution, arguing that these encourage initiative and provide more sustainable order than prolonged military pressure. 569
- Advises Shen Jin to accept friendly relations with Kojima Hisao after the destruction of the Divine Assembly’s stronghold. 546
- Approves recruitment benefits intended to attract survivors from H and L Provinces. 635
- Handles Korea’s request for aid, immediately authorizing food as humanitarian assistance while reserving equipment, potions, and fortification support for discussion with Shen Jin and further negotiation. 635
Power Progression
| Stage | Advancement and Capabilities | Citation |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary human | Relies on management, observation, negotiation, and alliances; has no supernatural power during the Wanyu Group siege. | 7 17 21 |
| Incomplete awakening | Takes unfinished serum and awakens an unstable Space-based Ability. Teleports Shen Jin away from the collapsing settlement at severe physical cost. | 75 81 83 |
| Post-awakening physical enhancement | After recovering, cannot sense or replenish her teleportation energy, but retains greatly improved physical fitness nearly comparable to pseudo-Superhumans such as Shen Jin and Yang Ao. | 84 |
| Tier 1 Superhuman | A Special Ability Enhancement Potion restores her Space-based Ability and stabilizes her energy, enabling repeated personal and passenger teleportation. | 122 |
| Temporary near-Tier 2 enhancement | Uses a Carrot to strengthen her Space-based Ability during the battle against the Big-Head Zombie and transports herself, Shen Jin, and the captured zombie onto the wall. | 163 |
| Tier 2 Superhuman | Takes an Intermediate Special Ability Enhancement Potion on Lunar New Year’s Eve, gaining greater strength, speed, and teleportation range. | 303 |
| Advanced Tier 2 | Further Intermediate Special Ability Enhancement Potion use raises her from early to advanced Tier 2; sustained Energy Serum use also strengthens her ability. | 361 |
| Peak Tier 2 | Is confirmed to have reached peak Tier 2 and sensed her next bottleneck. | 410 |
| Temporary pseudo-Tier 3 — Summoning Fruit | Temporarily exceeds peak Tier 2 and gains Metal Elemental summoning, but lacks the fundamental qualities of a true Tier 3 Superhuman. | 410 |
| Temporary pseudo-Tier 3 — Carrot | A Carrot raises her ability sufficiently to imbue her blade with spatial power during the fight against Ibe’s defenses. | 526 |
| Tier 3 Superhuman | Takes a Tier 3 Special Ability Advancement Potion. Her Space-based Ability evolves to create stable, linked portals through which people and body parts can pass. | 550 |
Relationships
- Shen Jin — Former Wanyu colleague and rescuer. Shen Jin saves her from Lu Qiang, initially claims it repays her earlier favor, then ultimately brings her to his home. Shang Qian relies on him for safety, while repeatedly misreads his relationship with Sun Can. After risking her life to rescue him, she becomes his dependable partner in both base-building and survival. Their shared recovery and experiences in D City lead to romantic love, and they begin an intimate relationship. She thereafter views managing the base as building their shared home rather than simply serving as his subordinate. 17 21 23 26 81 83 101 122 167
- Li Moxiao — Fellow member of Shen Jin’s household. Li Moxiao is initially hostile and jealous of Shang Qian’s arrival, but the two later bond over romance movies and share household life. Shang Qian and Shen Jin mourn her apparent death after the original settlement falls, although she survives and is later reunited with them. 26 31 83 163 202 215
- Sun Can — Shen Jin’s rescuer and temporary housemate. Shang Qian mistakenly believes Sun Can is Shen Jin’s lover, leading to much of her misunderstanding of Shen Jin’s intentions. Much later, his berserk Tier 4 breakthrough places her and Shen Jin in direct danger when he prevents their teleportation escape. 22 23 26 656
- Yang Ao — Fellow survivor in Shen Jin’s group. Shang Qian meets him after he joins the household; he is immediately eager to befriend her, while she contributes cooking and social organization to the group. He later helps establish her administrative authority by announcing her appointment and forcibly suppressing Ma Sanxiong’s resistance. They cooperate in loyalty screening and the rescue of Xing Lingmin, and he becomes the first person transported through her new Tier 3 portal. 33 52 316 534 550
- Lu Qiang — Former Wanyu security guard. Lu Qiang resents Shang Qian’s rationing decisions, attempts to assault her, and is stopped when Shen Jin intervenes. Shang Qian later acknowledges her failure to investigate his character, and she and Shen Jin remain troubled by his sudden breakdown. 12 16 17 33 83
- Director Wang / Old Wang — Wanyu survivor who provides observations about zombie movements while Shang Qian attempts to manage the group’s situation. He later handles human resources at Home No. 1 and receives responsibility for coordinating economic and administrative affairs during her absence. Shang Qian appreciates his competence while maintaining firm limits on his conduct. 7 381
- Qi Tong and Li Jie — Former Wanyu colleagues who respect Shang Qian for defending women against workplace injustice and coercion. Qi Tong helps ensure her safety immediately after Lu Qiang’s attack, while Li Jie later becomes responsible for Home No. 1’s internal administration. 18 213 381
- Zhao Chao — Military trainer who helps compensate for her limited combat background. She observes his Self-Defense Force drills and later studies assassination techniques under him. 122 174
- Zheng Ying and Miao Shubai — Trusted members of the Female Boss Squad. Shang Qian appoints Zheng Ying captain and Miao Shubai her support. Miao Shubai later privately envies Shang Qian’s intimate relationship with Shen Jin. 137 371
- Lu Daizhen — Mind Reading specialist whom Shang Qian recommends recruiting. They cooperate in evaluating the honesty and loyalty of prospective Superhumans and construction workers. 283 316 562
- Li Wen and the financial team — Specialists who support her economic reforms and currency system. Shang Qian rewards competence but demands strict adherence to the issuance plan. 303 361
- Kim Seok-hyeon — Korean representative who requests aid from Home No. 1. Shang Qian rebukes his initial questioning of her authority, authorizes food assistance, and leaves broader concessions for negotiation with Shen Jin. 635
Story Role
Wanyu Group Siege
Shang Qian serves as the central authority among the Wanyu Group employees trapped on the third floor. She oversees barricades and rationing while attempting to keep the survivors hopeful despite dwindling food, blankets, and confidence. 7 12
Lu Qiang Incident
Lu Qiang’s discovery of his reduced ration turns his resentment toward Shang Qian into open violence. Shang Qian resists him directly, offering food and water in exchange for being left alone and threatening severe retaliation if he forces her. Shen Jin infiltrates the building and intervenes before Lu Qiang can harm her further. 16 17
As the confrontation escalates, Zhao Mingkai helps remove her from the room, and Qi Tong insists that she be taken to her own room rather than left in his care. Shang Qian pretends to be unconscious while trying to process the attack and the identity of her masked rescuer. 18
Departure from Wanyu Group
Traumatized by the attack and aware that the remaining employees can no longer guarantee her safety, Shang Qian asks Shen Jin to take her away. After a prolonged misunderstanding in which she believes Shen Jin and Sun Can are lovers, Shen Jin decides to include her in his group. 21 22 23
Shang Qian escapes the building with Shen Jin and the unconscious Sun Can. She helps retrieve foldable electric bikes and descends to Shen Jin’s underground tunnel system using his Blockify Ability, which she interprets as an Earth-based Ability. 24
One bike emerges intact while the other falls apart. Shen Jin rides ahead with Sun Can after asking her to repair the damaged bike, then briefly returns only to seal the entrance. Shang Qian is left to follow the tunnel toward his home, frightened and frustrated by his apparent lack of concern. 24
Life in Shen Jin’s Household
At Shen Jin’s villa, Shang Qian becomes part of the core household alongside Li Moxiao, Yang Ao, and Sun Can. She takes on cooking, helps discuss expansion plans, develops a friendship with Li Moxiao, and uses her management skills to encourage group cohesion through games and conversation. 26 28 31 33
Taking Charge of the Settlement
After Shen Jin begins taking in survivors, Shang Qian identifies serious weaknesses in the settlement’s labor organization. She proposes clear targets, meaningful authority for team leaders, and rewards and punishments tied to performance. Yang Ao announces that she will oversee the settlement. 52
Her first enforcement action denies dinner to workers she observed shirking their duties. When Ma Sanxiong attempts to shove her, Yang Ao cuts off his middle finger, establishing that resistance to the new rules will have consequences. Shang Qian then rewards responsible leaders and formally reads the temporary regulations. 52
She subsequently recommends expanding eastward into a factory complex and eventually restarting fertilizer production and farming. During these discussions, Su Lele’s arrival for Shen Jin’s massage prompts her to reconsider her assumptions about his sexuality and imagine that he might be interested in her. 64
Incomplete Awakening and Escape
During the crisis that destroys the original refuge, Shang Qian seizes an unfinished serum despite Fu Wei’s objections, hoping to awaken an ability and contribute to the defense. She develops an unstable Space-based Ability and uses it to rescue Shen Jin from the encircling zombies. 75 81
The awakening causes severe pain and cannot sustain repeated use. When Shen Jin asks her to save Li Moxiao and the others, she explains that she has only one teleportation left. She carries him away, leaving both of them believing their companions have been lost. 81
Shen Jin cares for her while building a mountain farmhouse refuge. She wakes on the eighth day after their teleportation, and they mourn the vanished settlement together. By the tenth day, both have recovered physically, but she can no longer sense her ability or replenish its energy. Her enhanced physique remains intact. 83 84
D City and Her Relationship with Shen Jin
Shang Qian accompanies Shen Jin as they leave the mountain refuge and rebuild their position in D City. During an encounter with hostile armed men, she demonstrates her enhanced speed and strength, killing attackers alongside him. Her limited technique nevertheless becomes a recurring weakness in battles against Superhumans. 85 103 112
Their shared room during recovery gradually becomes a permanent arrangement. After seeing Shen Mengmeng attempt to seduce Shen Jin, Shang Qian takes him back to their room and initiates a more intimate relationship. She later recognizes that caring for each other and rebuilding in D City transformed her earlier gratitude and attraction into love. 100 101 167
Shen Jin gives her a Special Ability Enhancement Potion, restoring her teleportation and advancing her to Tier 1. She tests the recovered power by teleporting around the waterfront and carrying him back to their bedroom. 122
Female Boss Squad and Red Water Bay Defense
Shang Qian helps Shen Jin create a team of ten trusted women at Red Water Bay Base. She renames the proposed Peacekeeping Team the Female Boss Squad, requires its members to commit to loyalty and defense duties, and appoints Zheng Ying captain after the women awaken their abilities. 137
During preparations against the zombie horde, Shen Jin assigns her to preserve her energy for evacuating allies rather than frontline fighting. She also helps clear stray zombies and later contributes to coordinated attacks against the horde’s leadership. 152 160
In the final struggle to seize the Big-Head Zombie, she strengthens her spatial ability with a Carrot. After the defenders disable its protection and sever its arms, she teleports herself, Shen Jin, and the captive zombie onto the wall. 163
Resource Expeditions and Return to Q City
Shang Qian trains with the Female Boss Squad and Zhao Chao while continuing to accompany Shen Jin on expeditions. Together, they lure a Tier 1 Harpy Zombie into a TNT trap, kill it, and secure a diamond mine where Shen Jin establishes automated excavation and a temporary shelter. 174 185
She supports his determination to return to Q City and confront the zombie responsible for the original settlement’s destruction. During the return effort, she accompanies him to gather building materials and is asked to arrange a memorial for Zhu Dan. 187 202
On meeting surviving Wanyu colleagues, her presence helps establish Shen Jin’s credibility and authority. She confirms that the rebuilt territory belongs to him, overturning their mistaken assumptions about his position. 213
Building Home No. 1’s Institutions
As Home No. 1 expands, Shang Qian organizes industry, recruitment, and administrative staffing. Shen Jin entrusts her with selecting forty men for a new awakening ceremony, and she later assigns captains to key industries while planning broader employment and a census. 226 257
She recommends recruiting Lu Daizhen to improve the reliability of personnel selection. Later, she joins Shen Jin and Yang Ao in interviewing more than five hundred reserve Superhumans while Lu Daizhen secretly checks their sincerity. During Hao Mengzhu’s interview, Shang Qian asks whether she would exchange sex for awakening; Hao Mengzhu refuses and passes the screening. 283 316
On Lunar New Year’s Eve, Shen Jin gives Shang Qian an Intermediate Special Ability Enhancement Potion, advancing her to Tier 2 despite her initial insistence that administrative reform matters more to her than personal strength. 303
She subsequently finalizes the base’s currency issuance plan. Shen Jin introduces the Trade-O-Mat during her meeting with financial specialists, demonstrating a machine that can automatically exchange coins for goods and support their developing monetary system. 361
Her administrative system becomes sufficiently established that she can leave the base without interrupting routine operations. Before a major anti-horde expedition, she confirms delegated responsibilities and instructs Old Wang to keep economic and administrative affairs within the rules. 381
Temporary Summoning and Continued Administration
After Shen Jin reaches Tier 3, Shang Qian tests his newly created Summoning Fruit. It briefly raises her beyond peak Tier 2 and allows her to summon a flying golden Metal Elemental that can transform into a sword, but Shen Jin explains that the enhancement does not make her a true Tier 3 Superhuman. 410
She remains active in civilian and diplomatic affairs, giving Ye Fan funds during the S City delegation’s tour and advising him about equipment for ordinary troops. She later welcomes Shen Jin home from Pakistan with a feast. 430 478
As Home No. 1’s territories grow, she oversees economic integration with Red Water Bay Base and travels among the bases to supervise development. Shen Jin prioritizes equipping her with Quantum Armor because of the security risks associated with these duties. 504 520
Campaign Against the Divine Assembly
During the fight against Ibe, Shang Qian suggests using precipitation to reveal his invisible movements. Shen Jin adapts the idea by having Zheng Ying spread freezing air and frost, helping expose him for the team’s binding attack. Shang Qian later joins an assault with a blade empowered by spatial energy. 525 526
She and Yang Ao conduct the concealed rescue operation beneath the Divine Assembly’s headquarters while Shen Jin draws attention elsewhere. Because her teleportation requires a visible or previously visited destination, she first infiltrates the basement holding Xing Lingmin before extracting her. 534
Before the decisive battle, she locates a prepared position and installs a Teleporter. She refuses to withdraw immediately, citing her Quantum Armor and teleportation, but agrees to Shen Jin’s condition that she retreat once the armor’s charge falls below one million. 541
After the Divine Assembly’s defeat, Shen Jin consults her about Kojima Hisao’s proposal for friendship. She advises that another ally would be beneficial, helping support the resulting agreement. 546
Tier 3 Breakthrough and Spatial Portals
Shen Jin brings Shang Qian a Tier 3 Special Ability Advancement Potion while she is working. She drinks it without hesitation and undergoes a breakthrough marked by purple light, spatial cracks, and distortions around her body. 550
Her evolved ability creates stable linked portals. She first demonstrates that an arm can reach through one opening and emerge elsewhere, then transports Yang Ao through the passage. She and Shen Jin subsequently return to her office through another portal. 550
Despite the advancement, she continues prioritizing administrative work. She advises Shen Jin on obtaining the film drives and keys needed to reopen a cinema, asks him to take her there when it opens, and receives a request to recruit loyal construction workers for screening by Lu Daizhen. 562
Economic Expansion and Aid to Korea
Shang Qian regards Home No. 1’s market economy as one of her greatest achievements. She argues that opportunities for better consumption and higher rewards motivate residents more effectively than equal communal distribution or indefinite coercion. 569
As recruitment extends into H and L Provinces, she approves benefits for incoming survivors. When Kim Seok-hyeon requests aid for Korea, she agrees to immediate food assistance but leaves demands for equipment, Superhuman Potions, and wall construction subject to further discussion with Shen Jin. She dispatches Liu Jin and black-armored warriors, who arrive with food within twenty minutes. 635
Sun Can’s Tier 4 Crisis
Shang Qian accompanies Shen Jin’s group into the Nether during Sun Can’s advancement. Although he reaches Tier 4, Hu Shou realizes that his inner demon still controls him. Sun Can turns violent and uses spatial control to prevent Shang Qian from teleporting the group away. 656
Even after consuming a Special Ability Carrot, she cannot break his spatial lock. Shen Jin abandons teleportation as an immediate escape method and orders everyone to scatter and fly. As Sun Can pursues them, he urges Shang Qian to flee through the portal to Earth and dismantle it while he remains behind. Her successful escape is not confirmed in this chapter. 656
