Background

Hashirama and the Uchiha joined forces to found Konoha, ending the Warring States Period. He believed overwhelming strength could preserve peace, but war broke out after his death 40 264 293. He fought Madara Uchiha with a great sword that was damaged against Madara’s gunbai. The sword later shattered while Hashirama’s brother Tobirama used it in his final battle 189.

Personality

Hashirama is exuberant and often carefree, even when summoned into a dangerous confrontation. He laughs with Madara, praises Tsunade’s growth, and offers her Wood Release advice while his reanimated body is forced to fight her 293 339. He is nevertheless willing to reconsider his ideals: when Uchiha Yoru argues that peace founded on one person’s strength cannot survive that person’s death, Hashirama listens and later acknowledges that history has challenged his approach 293 299.

• He and Tsunade jointly perform Sage Art: Gate of the Gods, summoning red torii gates to restrain Ten-Tails jinchūriki Obito 358.

• Hashirama possessed immense chakra in life; after sensing Yoru’s reserves, he states that they exceed his own prime reserves 294.
• His Impure World Reincarnation body regenerates, but its combat strength depends on the summoner’s modifications. Obito deliberately weakens a later reanimation to help keep him under control 296 337 338.

• First Hokage’s Great Sword — a large blade once wielded against Madara’s gunbai. Tobirama later used the already-damaged sword in his final battle, where it shattered; Tsunade eventually recovers its remains from Kumogakure forces 170 189.
