Background / History

Aqua served as the Water Goddess responsible for receiving and reincarnating departed souls from Japan. When Broly arrived without an entry in the Book of the Departed, she could neither process him normally nor send him to Heaven. Broly chose her as the companion he wanted to take to another world, forcing Aqua to accompany him on a Demon King-subjugation mission despite her reluctance. 115

In Axel, Aqua struggled with basic mortal concerns such as registration fees, food, and the stigma attached to the Axis Cult. An Eris Cult follower ultimately gave her charity, allowing her and Broly to register at the Adventurer's Guild. Aqua became a High Priest and resolved to use her versatile class to care for Broly. 116 117

She began formally teaching Broly after introducing him to Water Purification and bath-scrubbing techniques. Broly thereafter addressed her as “Master Aqua,” establishing their master-disciple relationship.
