| Netherworld conception | 362 | Qi Yuan concludes that his Purple Mansion should unite Yang-aligned Purple Qi with a Yin-aligned Netherworld, allowing him to address past regrets and potentially restore the dead. |
| Incomplete breakthrough | 385 | Qi Yuan returns from the game having entered the Purple Mansion realm, but finds its internal space empty: he possesses Purple Qi but lacks the “Mansion.” His expected new ability does not awaken. |
| Netherworld foundation | 401 | Qi Yuan obtains the Myriad Paths Gate, renames it the Netherworld Gate, and orders territories from Moon Gazing Continent and Mortal Heart World moved within it. |
| Purple Mansion formed | 402 | With the Netherworld painted and structured, Qi Yuan combines it with his collected Purple Qi: “Purple for Purple Qi; Mansion for Netherworld.” His two Origin Divine Powers integrate into its hells and rivers. |
Nature and Cultivation
The Purple Mansion is regarded as the foundation for the later Yang Spirit path, just as the Divine Infant is considered the foundation of Yin Spirit cultivation. Great Wisdom True Lord reasons that a cultivator should extend their Origin Divine Power into a suitable personal “mansion” before pursuing Yang Spirit rules and Supreme Truth. 277
- A Purple Mansion cultivator’s Origin Divine Power is formed from their own path and normally requires comprehending the essence of spiritual energy. 141
- Standard Purple Mansions are described as broadly similar to one another, unlike Origin Divine Powers, which are highly individual. 362
- The realm is close to the pinnacle of the Lower Realm; reaching Yin Spirit allows ascension to the Upper Realm. 355
- Void Bright Soul Wood can raise a cultivator’s Divine Soul by a small level below Purple Mansion. It is especially valuable to Divine Infant Late Stage cultivators attempting the Purple Mansion Tribulation. 97
- Qi Yuan’s use of Innate Purple Qi is exceptional. Purple Qi is described as the Mother Qi of all things and is difficult even for Yang Spirits to obtain. 362 386
Qi Yuan's Purple Mansion
Qi Yuan’s design originated during a Divine Infant Dao discussion, when a masked cultivator suggested that a Purple Mansion could be a cave dwelling made from Innate Purple Qi. Qi Yuan combined this with his desire to reverse the deaths and regrets he had accumulated across different worlds. 362
He defined Purple Qi as the Yang half of the construction—vitality and renewal—and the Netherworld as the Yin half—death, souls, and reincarnation. His intended Purple Mansion was therefore not merely a residence or storage space, but a functioning underworld capable of drawing in souls, imprisoning enemies, and eventually restoring those he had lost. 362
After initially reaching the realm with only Purple Qi and an empty inner space, Qi Yuan enlisted the Strange Painter to create the Netherworld’s form. Her work took forty-four days and established its mountains, rivers, Ghost Gate, Eighteen Levels of Hell, and Son of Heaven Palace. 385 402
Territories within the Netherworld
Before completing the Purple Mansion, Qi Yuan used the Netherworld Gate to relocate several locations into it:
- No Return City
- Nine Bend Mountain
- The Four Forbidden Zones and One Absolute Territory of Moon Gazing Continent
- The Ancient Clan’s Ancestral Land from Mortal Heart World 401
Netherworld Offices
Qi Yuan populated the completed Netherworld by appointing Divine Infants and other entities as officials. 402
- Yu Lei and Shen Tu — Eastern Ghost Emperors governing Peach Stop Mountain and Ghost Gate.
- Netherworld Son of Heaven — resides within the Son of Heaven Palace.
- Ksitigarbha — assigned to Hell.
- Qi Qi / Houtu — governs Reincarnation, with her consciousness merging into that function.
Abilities & Functions
Origin Divine Power: Void Realm Dominator Heart Demon Induction
Qi Yuan’s Heart Demon Induction is incorporated into the Netherworld’s punitive structure.
- His blood-red Demon Sword enters the Eighteen Levels of Hell and becomes a Demon Prison. 402
- Qi Yuan conceived the hells as a means to subject intruders to Heart Demons. 362
- The ability gives his Purple Mansion a hostile internal environment rather than making it a passive cave abode. 362 402
Origin Divine Power: Great Forgetfulness Sutra
The Great Forgetfulness Sutra becomes part of the Netherworld’s death-and-rebirth cycle.
- Its power of “forgetting” merges into Meng Po Soup and the Forgetful River. 402
- Qi Yuan intended it to erase the identities and memories of those passing through the Netherworld. 362
Purple Qi Lure
Purple Qi blankets the entrance to Qi Yuan’s Purple Mansion.
- Purple Qi’s immense value is intended to attract covetous Yang Spirits. 362 402
- Qi Yuan’s planned tactic is to let enemies pursue the Purple Qi, enter the Netherworld, and become trapped in its hellish interior. 362
Door of Supreme Truth
Qi Yuan transformed the Myriad Paths Gate into the Door of Supreme Truth during the Purple Mansion’s formation. 402
- The door can isolate what has been brought within the Purple Mansion. 406
- Qi Yuan used it while swallowing the Great Calamity and the Azure Wave World into his Purple Mansion, preventing the Grand Brilliance Palace’s marks from annihilating all living beings in that world. 406
Soul Reception and Reincarnation
Qi Yuan’s Netherworld is incomplete and cannot yet govern all dead souls.
- It can currently receive only souls that Qi Yuan has marked in advance. 402
- Marked dead may enter the Netherworld and be reincarnated. 402
- Qi Yuan states that restoring the dead requires “erasing” a living counterpart; he distinguishes this process from simply killing someone. 402
- The Five Elements Five Ancestors, Zhang Sheng, and Chen Jiao cannot yet be received because they were not marked by the Netherworld. 402
Notable Contents
- Tablet of the Dead — A mysterious stone tablet bearing the character for “Dead,” formed when unknown entities entering the Netherworld condensed together. It appears to originate from another world and carries an aura associated with the Great Supreme Truth of death. 402
- Ghost Gate — Manifested through the Strange Painter’s work; its appearance is accompanied by the phrase, “Ghost Gate, nine out of ten never return.” 402
- Reception Platform — A platform within the Netherworld connected to Qi Yuan’s plans for soul reception and revival. 402
Trivia
- Qi Yuan’s completed Purple Mansion awakened a new ability: when activated, his words may randomly reach certain people’s ears, and responding to voices he hears can produce inexplicable effects. 402 496
- Qi Yuan considers himself “just Purple Mansion” even when facing Yang Spirit-level threats, referring to himself as the Shinguang Sect’s number one Purple Mansion. 431
