Nature and Cultivation

The Purple Mansion is regarded as the foundation for the later Yang Spirit path, just as the Divine Infant is considered the foundation of Yin Spirit cultivation. Great Wisdom True Lord reasons that a cultivator should extend their Origin Divine Power into a suitable personal “mansion” before pursuing Yang Spirit rules and Supreme Truth. 277

• A Purple Mansion cultivator’s Origin Divine Power is formed from their own path and normally requires comprehending the essence of spiritual energy. 141

Qi Yuan's Purple Mansion

Qi Yuan’s design originated during a Divine Infant Dao discussion, when a masked cultivator suggested that a Purple Mansion could be a cave dwelling made from Innate Purple Qi. Qi Yuan combined this with his desire to reverse the deaths and regrets he had accumulated across different worlds. 362

He defined Purple Qi as the Yang half of the construction—vitality and renewal—and the Netherworld as the Yin half—death, souls, and reincarnation. His intended Purple Mansion was therefore not merely a residence or storage space, but a functioning underworld capable of drawing in souls, imprisoning enemies, and eventually restoring those he had lost. 362

After initially reaching the realm with only Purple Qi and an empty inner space, Qi Yuan enlisted the Strange Painter to create the Netherworld’s form. Her work took forty-four days and established its mountains, rivers, Ghost Gate, Eighteen Levels of Hell, and Son of Heaven Palace. 385 402

Territories within the Netherworld

Before completing the Purple Mansion, Qi Yuan used the Netherworld Gate to relocate several locations into it:

Netherworld Offices

Qi Yuan populated the completed Netherworld by appointing Divine Infants and other entities as officials. 402

• Netherworld Son of Heaven — resides within the Son of Heaven Palace.

Origin Divine Power: Void Realm Dominator Heart Demon Induction

Qi Yuan’s Heart Demon Induction is incorporated into the Netherworld’s punitive structure.

• His blood-red Demon Sword enters the Eighteen Levels of Hell and becomes a Demon Prison. 402
• Qi Yuan conceived the hells as a means to subject intruders to Heart Demons. 362
• The ability gives his Purple Mansion a hostile internal environment rather than making it a passive cave abode. 362 402

Origin Divine Power: Great Forgetfulness Sutra

The Great Forgetfulness Sutra becomes part of the Netherworld’s death-and-rebirth cycle.

• Tablet of the Dead — A mysterious stone tablet bearing the character for “Dead,” formed when unknown entities entering the Netherworld condensed together. It appears to originate from another world and carries an aura associated with the Great Supreme Truth of death. 402
