Background & History

Sima Ting seized control of the declining Nanqian court, slaughtered the imperial family, and installed Jin Li—a young girl at the time—as Empress. The court did not take her seriously, and an old leg injury made even the three-hour kneeling punishment she endured especially difficult. Aunt Qin was her only consistent source of care before Jin Li came to know Qi Yuan. 16 43

Jin Li first knew Qi Yuan as an online friend through the Exquisite Jade Tide. While he was seriously ill and living alone, she was his only regular companion; their candid conversations became a refuge from her duties and isolation. 17 43

When Aunt Qin was severely injured and Sima Ting threatened to usurp the throne, Jin Li investigated the Xuanyuan Forbidden Area for spiritual medicine and tested Qi Yuan's seemingly absurd advice: entering with ladders. The method worked, allowing her and her confidants into the forbidden area. 10 12

She repeatedly supported Qi Yuan's expeditions by researching the Attire Forbidden Area, including discovering that its Clothing Monsters shared a weakened nightly connection. She stayed awake into the night to compile the information for him. 16 17

After Qi Yuan altered the Xuanyuan Forbidden Area's rules, Jin Li organized her followers to cultivate through exercises such as push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups. The method rapidly elevated their cultivation, though it caused hair loss. 22 23

Qi Yuan later instructed Jin Li to construct a God Sacrifice Platform to summon the Attire Division Imperial Guards. After resolving much of Nanqian's turmoil, Jin Li left her role as Empress and waited near the Ancient Qixun Camphor Tree to meet Qi Yuan in person. Their first planned meeting failed because they were separated across time and space. 72 74 165

By the time Qi Yuan found her again, Jin Li was a Moon Girl of the Moon God Palace, fighting continuously in the Demon Abyss to earn merits and seek a favor from Moon God Yuanjun. They finally reunited in the Sixth Heaven. 378 423

Jin Li chose to relinquish her Moon Girl status so that she could be with Qi Yuan, despite the status providing resources and a path toward the Yang Spirit Realm. Moon Radiance Celestial Venerable later approved their union, and Jin Li became Qi Yuan's Dao companion. 425 480

Jin Li is described as exceptionally beautiful, with a snowy complexion, dark hair, and an elegant, cool bearing. Her usual dress emphasizes restraint and simplicity, especially white robes that suit her aloof Moon Girl image. 420 423

Beneath her cold public image, Jin Li is deeply affectionate and loyal. She values Qi Yuan's concern because it contrasts sharply with the neglect she experienced growing up, and she remained certain that he would eventually find her. 43 420
