Innate Soul Power

• Innate soul power is a principal measure of a Martial Soul's initial potential and strongly affects cultivation speed. Low innate soul power can leave a Soul Master unable to advance beyond the Great Spirit Master stage without unusual opportunities. 4 141
• The Gu Family's inherited Ice Martial Soul appears with at least level-eight innate soul power; Gu Qingbo's level-seven innate soul power is considered outstanding, but insufficient to qualify her for the Family Head position because her Martial Soul is not close enough to the inherited line. 12

Inheritance and Mutation

• Long-term inheritance can weaken a family’s original bloodline. The Gu Family's Extreme Ice and Extreme Snow ancestral Martial Souls had largely dwindled after more than a thousand years of intermarriage. 16
• The Gu Family preserves its inherited line through marriage arrangements and a secondary-awakening formation. For direct descendants, the spouse's Martial Soul quality must not exceed the descendant's quality; a greater difference improves the inherited proportion used by the formation. 16 254

Spirit Light Technique

The Spirit Light Technique consumes Chen Yue's lifespan to temper, cleanse, and regenerate a target's Martial Soul through lectures or one-on-one instruction. 34

• Lecture form — guarantees increased soul-ring absorption years; it has a small chance of evolution, a small chance of beneficial mutation, and a moderate chance of doubling the target's absorption limit. 34
• One-on-one form — guarantees a doubled absorption limit and offers higher chances of beneficial mutation or evolution than the lecture form. 34
• Its effects may be delayed: later study or reflection can trigger an epiphany resulting in soul-power growth, Martial Soul mutation, altered soul rings, or increased innate soul power. 122
• Once the delayed effect manifests, Chen Yue does not need to spend additional lifespan. 122

Spirit Exaltation Technique

The Spirit Exaltation Technique is a more costly alternative to the Spirit Light Technique.

Martial Soul Fusion Skills

A Martial Soul fusion skill combines multiple Soul Masters' Martial Souls into a stronger joint technique.

• The Gu Family possesses a three-person fusion skill reportedly capable of killing a Title Douluo. 90

Martial Soul Possession

Martial Soul Possession allows the user to manifest characteristics of their Martial Soul.

• Bai Xue's Swallow-tailed Owl possession grants exceptionally sharp observation abilities, allowing her to recognize concealed physical changes from a distance. 251
• The Swallow-tailed Owl is a mutated bird-type Martial Soul whose speed is only one-fifth to one-seventh that of the Min Clan's Sharp-tailed Swallow and whose offensive power is below that of ordinary owl Martial Souls. 251

Domains

Domains are specialized fields that can alter combat conditions according to the user's Martial Soul and Soul Skills.

• Chen Yue's Endless Domain suppresses enemies, prevents healing, blinds tool Martial Souls, and makes beast Martial Souls vulnerable to increased damage. 63
• Within the Endless Domain, all non-beast Martial Souls—including support Martial Souls—are treated as tool Martial Souls. 63
