Background / History
Clear Sky Sect Prodigy
Tang Hao is selected as the Clear Sky Sect's next Sect Master despite being fifteen years younger than Tang Xiao. At thirty, he is already a Soul Douluo and the most talented member of the sect's younger generation. His position gives him access to inherited soul bones and supreme secret techniques associated with the Clear Sky Douluo title 102.
Before visiting Heavenly Path Academy, he has already survived the City of Slaughter. Tang Yuehua's Noble's Ring domain stabilizes his mind afterward, but does not completely remove his impulsiveness and recklessness. During that earlier journey, he fails to recognize that the King of Slaughter is his grandfather, Tang Chen 102 222.
Heavenly Path Academy Confrontation
Tang Hao arrives at Heavenly Path Academy with Tang Xiao to confront Ye Wen over their sister's cultivation. His contemptuous demands lead to a battle with Lu Feng and Dugu Bo. When Ah Yin joins the academy's defense, Tang Hao asks his brother to cover him while he attempts to break through her blockade 102 103 104 105.
Ye Wen intervenes under a disguised identity and displays overwhelming pressure and an extraordinary Soul Ring configuration. The brothers apologize, but subsequently attack with their inherited techniques and are defeated by Space Shockwave. Their humiliation prompts Tang Wei to consider retaliation; Tang Xiao persuades him that provoking Heavenly Path Academy could destroy the sect 106 107 109.
Tang Hao then bullies smaller sects in an effort to restore Clear Sky's reputation. The brothers eventually seek instruction from Yu Yuanzhen, whose Level 95 strength overwhelms their techniques. The Great Elder intervenes after they suffer critical injuries 112 113 114.
Ah Yu and Spirit Hall
In the earlier storyline, Tang Hao becomes involved with Ah Yu, a transformed 100,000-year Thunderclap Hell Vine. Tang Hao, Tang Xiao, and the Great Elder know her identity and plan around the value of her Soul Ring, soul bone, and exceptionally talented potential child. Tang Hao wins the brothers' competition for her affection 144 150.
Spirit Hall discovers Ah Yu, forcing the couple into hiding. Qian Xunji eventually attacks with Ghost Douluo and Chrysanthemum Douluo while Ah Yu is giving birth. Tang Hao draws the battle away from her, but cannot indefinitely withstand all three opponents. Ah Yu sacrifices herself, allowing him to unleash a devastating lightning-enhanced counterattack 146 147 150.
The ensuing conflict brings disaster to the Clear Sky Sect and its affiliated forces. Tang Wei offers his life to protect the sect's bloodline, but Qian Daoliu kills him and pursues its fleeing elders. Tang Xiao subsequently becomes acting Sect Master while Tang Hao remains unable to return 149 151 152.
Tang San's Training and Tang Hao's Decline
After years of drinking and despondency, Tang Hao sees renewed hope in Tang San's Twin Martial Souls. He studies Ye Wen's published theories and recognizes the possibility of developing his son's plant Martial Soul toward the Thunderclap Hell Vine. He forces Yu Xiaogang to arrange training at Thunder Academy, then becomes concerned when the Lightning Mimicry Environment damages Tang San's body 210 211 214.
At the abandoned family cottage, Tang Hao expects to recover a stored soul bone. Instead, he finds a note announcing Ah Yu's resurrection and hostility toward the Clear Sky Sect. He conceals the implications from Tang San, presents the incident as theft and provocation, and begins teaching him the Clear Sky Hammer's ultimate arts 221.
By Chapter 236, Tang Hao has fallen back to Soul Douluo and is hunted for his five soul bones. Tang Xiao leaves the sect to rescue him despite the elders' objections. Upon returning, Tang Hao offers to teach Ring Detonation and the Great Sumeru Hammer to the elders, abandoning the former restriction of these techniques to the Clear Sky Douluo 236 252.
He later accompanies Tang Xiao to retrieve Tang San from the City of Slaughter. Restored to strength above Level 95, he intervenes in battle to free the sect's elders from Wang Bao's furnace and assist his brother against Dao Ba. The brothers are subsequently shown exhausted and still resisting Dao Ba; the supplied passage does not confirm their deaths 253 254 277 281.
Later Chapters: Ah Yin and the Tournament Ambush
The later supplied chapters identify Ah Yin, rather than Ah Yu, as Tang San's mother. In this account, Tang Hao asks Yu Xiaogang to bring Tang San closer to Xiao Wu, arranges early instruction in Clear Sky secret techniques, and supports his son's tournament ambitions 669 818 910.
After Ye Wen receives the tournament's three soul bones, Tang Hao ambushes him to seize the reward as compensation for Spirit Hall's treatment of the Clear Sky Sect. Bibi Dong intercepts him. He detonates his first eight rings, then his final 100,000-year ring, and uses the Great Sumeru Hammer as the battle turns against him 929 931.
Tang Hao escapes Spirit City severely injured and temporarily unable to use Soul Skills. Tang San nurses him, and he spends the following year teaching his son the Great Sumeru Hammer. Their disappearance also causes Bai He to abandon his partnership with them 945.
At the waterfall cave, Tang Hao discovers that Ah Yin's remaining Blue Silver Grass and soul bone are missing. His violent outburst destroys the surrounding area. The narration subsequently reveals that he uses the loss to cultivate Tang San's sympathy and hatred of Spirit Hall, despite having no evidence that Spirit Hall took the soul bone 946.
Failed Awakening and Return to the Sect
Tang Hao takes Tang San to the Blue Silver Forest to seek a Secondary Awakening. He forgets Ah Yin's instruction that Tang San must enter alone, then attempts to force the Blue Silver King out through threats and destruction. The effort fails; the Blue Silver King has already been removed by Ye Wen 947 948.
He next slaughters Ten-Thousand-Year Soul Beasts to collect soul bones for Tang San. The Sky Azure Bull Python and Titan Giant Ape attack him, and his actions trigger a Beast Tide. Heaven Dou and Star Luo eventually issue wanted notices for both father and son after quelling the resulting crisis 948 949.
His evolved domain later helps him recover to Level 97. With eight Ten-Thousand-Year soul bones and strength equal to Tang Xiao's, he secures his family's return to the Clear Sky Sect. Tang San subsequently returns as the Asura God, controls Tang Hao through domain authority, and installs him as a puppet Sect Master 972 974 975.
At Level 98, Tang Hao fights Zhu Zhuqing and is severely injured by Ah Yin's surprise attack. When Tang San's true origins are exposed, Tang Xiao expels him from the genealogy and threatens Tang Hao with the same punishment. Tang Hao immediately returns to his brother, accepting the severance of his relationship with Tang San 982 984.
Appearance
- Weathered face and thick beard: Retained even after his injuries recover 972.
- Concealing clothing: Wears a black robe during his confrontation with Yu Xiaogang and a large hood when revealing himself in the later account 171 669.
- Neglected condition: His stale odor is conspicuous even among Shrek's rougher teachers; villagers remember him as a drunken bum 210 221.
- Changed attire after recovery: Replaces his old beggar's clothes with a fitted black outfit 972.
Personality
Tang Hao's pride rests on his talent, inherited techniques, and the Clear Sky Hammer's reputation. He mocks Heavenly Path Academy before assessing its defenders and later attacks weaker sects to compensate for his humiliation. Against demonstrably superior power, however, he readily backs down 102 106 112 174.
His foremost loyalty is to the Clear Sky Sect. He treats Tang San's exceptional talent as a means of restoring its glory, conceals information that could turn his son against the sect, and ultimately abandons their father-son bond when his own place in the genealogy is threatened 164 221 910 984.
His attachment to family is nevertheless consequential. He worries over Tang San's deteriorating condition, urges Tang Yuehua to leave an increasingly dangerous political environment, and repeatedly risks himself for Tang Xiao. During their exhausted stand against Dao Ba, he steps in front of his brother and accepts responsibility for their predicament 214 281 972 982.
His behavior changes with circumstance rather than following a steady reform. After his earlier fall, he becomes sufficiently resigned to share the sect's exclusive ultimate techniques. Later, renewed strength restores his confidence in coercion, including threats against the Blue Silver King and the destruction of its forest 252 947 972.
Abilities & Skills
Clear Sky Hammer and Martial Soul Avatar
- Follows the sect successor's extreme strength-oriented cultivation path, unlike Tang Xiao's lightning-integrated approach 114.
- Uses Martial Soul Avatar to amplify his hammer attacks 103.
- Learns to compress the Tool Soul True Body and condense its essence during the Soul Douluo stage, an advanced application requiring exceptional Spiritual Power 928.
- Gains a powerful purple-lightning enhancement from Ah Yu's sacrifice in the earlier storyline 147.
Divine Slaughter's Domain
- Obtained by clearing the City of Slaughter 102 222.
- Initially increases his combat power by 10% while reducing his enemy's by 10% and strengthening his imposing aura 113.
- Can evolve through slaughter; its later evolution helps his persistent injuries recover 113 972.
- Is not entirely under his independent control: Tang San's authority as Asura God allows him to manipulate Tang Hao through the god-bestowed domain 975.
Clear Sky Nine Absolutes
- Inherited techniques used alongside Soul Skills to strengthen hammer combat 103.
- Uses Pierce against Yu Yuanzhen, although the level gap sends him flying despite the technique 113.
- Opens his battle against Qian Xunji's group with the Nine Absolutes and uses them jointly with Tang Xiao against Zhu Zhuqing 147 982.
Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer
- Uses a stacking hammer technique whose danger Lu Feng recognizes during the academy battle 103.
- Begins Tang San's ultimate-art training with its stacking method 221.
Sky-Soaring Strike
- An inherited attack incorporating a Spiritual Lock; described as an advanced form of the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer capable of rivaling an ordinary Titled Douluo's Ninth Soul Skill 923.
- Teaches the locking technique to Tang San after noticing his unusual Spiritual Power 923.
- Uses it with Ring Detonation and Clear Sky True Body to block Zhu Zhuqing's attack 982.
Ring Detonation
- Converts Soul Ring power into an explosive combat boost; detonating his first eight rings doubles his strength during the tournament ambush 929.
- Uses it to break restraints, escape pursuit, and support the Great Sumeru Hammer 147 236 277.
- After use, his rings disappear for three days, leaving his cultivation intact but depriving him of Soul Skills 945.
- Requires thirty-six days before reuse; using it sooner risks permanently losing his rings 945.
- Inflicts internal injuries and places greater strain on him when activated hastily 100 982.
Great Sumeru Hammer
- The Clear Sky Sect's supreme secret technique, traditionally reserved for the most talented Clear Sky Douluo 931.
- Combines with Ring Detonation to produce attacks capable of breaking domains and Wang Bao's True Dragon Treasure Furnace 277 931.
- Tang Hao cannot wield it flawlessly. Its backlash leaves enduring internal injuries, which repeated use aggravates 931.
- Passes it to Tang San and, in the earlier storyline, to Tang Xiao and the sect elders 252 945.
Spiritual Power and Instruction
- His City of Slaughter experience raises his Spiritual Power to a level comparable to an ordinary Titled Douluo while he is still a Soul Douluo 113.
- Uses Spiritual Power to search for concealed targets, though he cannot locate the Blue Silver King 947.
- Trains Tang San in inherited hammer arts and plans for a head soul bone to help him resist the City of Slaughter's temptations 221 222.
- His cultivation judgment varies between accounts: he applies Ye Wen's theories to Tang San's lightning potential in earlier chapters, but disregards those theories and retains traditional ring-acquisition priorities in later chapters 210 818 948.
