Earlier, in order to lure the zombies away, the armored vehicles had maintained a speed comparable to the zombies'. But after receiving the order to terminate the mission and withdraw immediately, they naturally no longer maintained that pace.
Once the armored vehicles accelerated, the zombies could not catch up at all and were quickly left far behind. After wandering around for a while without a target, the zombies were drawn by the scent of the survivors behind them. They turned around one after another and headed toward the settlement.
