"Great! We're saved! A plane! A plane is coming to rescue us!"
Kane shouted excitedly. James and the others stopped what they were doing and looked in the direction Kane was pointing.
Soon, they spotted the black dot in the sky as well. James stepped forward, snatched the binoculars from Kane's hands, and looked up.
"It really is a plane! It's flying this way! They must be here to rescue us!"
Everyone was overjoyed. They did not have to die after all?!
But they soon realized the problem. The plane was still far away, while the zombies had already rushed into the building and could charge onto the roof at any moment. Could they hold out until the plane arrived?
None of them knew!
There had not been much on the roof to begin with. They had thrown everything they could move into the stairwell, but it had only blocked off most of the stairs. It still could not completely stop the countless zombies surging up from below!
The guns in their hands had long since run out of bullets. With only knives and clubs, there was no way they could hold back the zombies!
They had wished countless times for someone to come save them. Now that a plane had finally arrived and salvation was within reach, they would not even live to see it. They were about to be buried beneath a sea of corpses!
Was this fate?
Standing at the stairwell entrance, they could already hear the zombies roaring and running below, as though they would appear before them the very next moment.
