With Mako Mori and General Quan both giving their tacit approval, Jack felt no resistance either. He immediately turned to Chen Mo.
"Fine. You can take my place and pilot Gipsy Danger with Knight, provided you can establish a Drift with him."
For two pilots to control a single Jaeger, they had to undergo a neural Drift, linking their brains and sharing consciousness and memories. Only then could they share the neural burden of operating the Jaeger and pilot it in battle with the flexibility of a single person.
But not just any two people could establish a Drift. First, both needed sufficient talent and willpower. Second, they needed a certain degree of rapport and had to be willing to open their hearts to each other.
The higher their compatibility, the better their coordination and synchronization, the greater their control over the Jaeger, and naturally, the more power they could unleash.
Under normal circumstances, a Jaeger pilot had to undergo a series of training programs and assessments at Hunter Academy before they could truly pilot a Jaeger.
The process consisted of three stages, and even geniuses needed several years to complete them.
Phase One was basic assessment and training, covering physical fitness, reflexes, psychological resilience, and many other areas. It was also the stage with the highest elimination rate.
The selection criteria for Jaeger pilots were far more demanding than those for fighter pilots or astronauts. Most people could never meet the basic requirements, no matter how hard they tried.
Once their basic abilities and qualifications met the standards, they entered Phase Two for skill training. This included knowledge related to piloting Jaegers, short-term and long-term memory capability, exercises to strengthen physical and mental resistance to pressure, coordination and synchronization with a partner, one-on-one combat skills, and combat simulation training.
