Background

Humanity developed Jaegers after Kaiju attacks escalated beyond conventional defenses. Because the neural burden of controlling a Jaeger is too great for a single ordinary pilot, the PPDC adopted a two-pilot system: the pilots synchronize their neural networks and each control part of the machine through a shared connection. 1289

The PPDC established Jaeger manufacturing bases around the Pacific Rim, including Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney, Vladivostok, and Alaska. Limited numbers of compatible, highly trained pilots—not manufacturing capacity—remained a major constraint on Jaeger deployment. 1289 1290 1291

By 2035, Shao Industries proposed remotely operated drone Jaegers to solve the pilot shortage and reduce response times.
