The next day, everyone at the Criminal Investigation Department had arrived except David and Lena, but their expressions were somewhat grave.
Some stood while others sat in the office area. No one spoke, yet their eyes kept drifting toward the door.
They had all heard about what happened in the lobby last night. Although David had given George a hard slap in front of everyone, which had felt immensely satisfying to them, they soon began worrying about their Boss.
George was not a forgiving or magnanimous person. David had humiliated him so thoroughly and confronted him head-on. There was no way he would let it go so easily!
However, when they anxiously called David, they found that his phone was switched off. When they called Lena afterward, her phone was off as well!
They had nearly suspected that the two had eloped—or worse, that George, enraged and humiliated, had secretly had them killed!

Obviously, everyone already knew about last night. Given what they knew of George, David would definitely not get off lightly. And as his loyal subordinates, they would probably be implicated as well.
They were not afraid of that. Their situation in the FBI had already been terrible enough. How much worse could it get?
At worst, they would quit. Many of them had long since had enough of this place. If not for David, they would have resigned ages ago.
It had to be said that although David was disliked by Director George and subjected to harsh suppression, the Criminal Investigation Department under him remained the most cohesive department in the entire FBI Los
