Compared to Chen Mo's one-of-a-kind Primary Adamantium Shield, Adamantium was not much inferior in hardness or defensive strength.
The only difference was that true Adamantium lacked Primary Adamantium's ability to absorb kinetic energy and nullify all attacks. It could not, like in the Avengers films, withstand a blow from Mjolnir without a scratch.
If the attack was too powerful, although the alloy itself could withstand it, the force carried by the attack would still be transmitted through it. The result would be that the person behind the alloy would be sent flying by the tremendous force or suffer internal injuries from the impact.
Even so, Adamantium was already tough enough to handle the vast majority of attacks on the battlefield. Even close-range explosions and artillery shells could do little damage to the powerful body enhanced by Serum Enhancement beneath Adamantium's protection.
"Doctor, we've already seen Adamantium's defensive capabilities. It truly deserves to be called indestructible! Shouldn't we test its offensive power next?"
Chen Mo asked Dr. MacLane, who was still debating whether to bring over a tank and fire a round at it.
The doctor froze at his words.
"Offensive power? As long as the wielder is strong enough, throwing this shield could blow up a tank!"
Chen Mo and Howard exchanged helpless looks. Dr. MacLane was too far gone. Chen Mo suspected that if they did not stop him, he would turn all the Vibranium into round shields and hang them on the laboratory walls.
"The round shield I designed has a perfect aerodynamic shape. It can travel through the air with minimal wind resistance while ensuring that its trajectory does not deviate."
"This Adamantium Shield possesses extraordinary hardness and toughness. Combined with its natural concentric rigidity, it is the perfect throwing weapon. When it strikes a solid object, it loses only a minimal amount of angular momentum."
"After prolonged training, the user can throw the shield to pierce a target, or control it so that after bouncing off multiple points, it returns to the user's hand."
Listening to the doctor's endless explanation, Chen Mo felt his head ache. He could now conclude with certainty that the doctor truly intended to turn all the alloy into shields!
Imagining a group of Special Operations Team soldiers charging forward in neat formation with shields raised, Chen Mo hurriedly shook his head.
He had to stop him!
Chen Mo glanced at Howard, who was rolling his eyes behind his sunglasses, then reached into his coat and slowly drew something out.
A two-handed Knight Longsword gleaming with a chilling cold light appeared in Chen Mo's hand.
The babbling doctor and Howard, who had been staring up at the sky, were both drawn by the blade's cold gleam. They turned their heads, then both went blank with shock.
"Isn't that the miraculous longsword you seized from the HYDRA base?" Howard looked as though he had seen a ghost. "Where did you pull that out from?"
As he spoke, Howard scrutinized Chen Mo from head to toe, trying to find where he had hidden such a long sword.
"On me," Chen Mo answered casually.
"Impossible! How could I not have noticed you carrying a sword that long all this way?" Howard did not believe him at all.
"This is called the Sword Concealment Art. You wouldn't understand even if I explained it." Putting on the air of someone fooling an idiot, Chen Mo ignored him after saying that and walked toward Dr. MacLane with the sword in hand.
"Sword Concealment Art? Another miraculous Chinese martial art?" Howard actually believed him. After muttering to himself, he looked up and suddenly saw Chen Mo walking toward the doctor with the sword. Remembering the time he had angered Chen Mo and been chased around with a raised sword, his face changed drastically. He hurried forward and blocked Chen Mo's path.
"Don't act rashly! The doctor may be a little long-winded, and his ideas may be rather strange, but you can't chop him up for that!"
Howard tried to persuade him, reaching out to grab the sword.
"Come on, give me the sword. We can talk this out!"
Just as his hand was about to touch the hilt, a powerful force suddenly struck him. Chen Mo kicked Howard away.
Ignoring Howard, whose sunglasses had shattered and who was giving him a resentful look with one black eye, Chen Mo handed the longsword to Dr. MacLane.
From the moment Chen Mo had drawn the sword, the doctor's entire attention had been fixed on it. As he accepted the sword Chen Mo offered him, its weight, clearly much heavier than steel, made his arm sink, and he nearly failed to hold it. At the same time, his heart skipped a beat. Having studied metals for half his life, the doctor could tell that the material of this sword was anything but ordinary.
He immediately began examining it carefully. Its style, patterns, guard, balance—the longer he looked, the brighter his eyes became. His face gradually flushed, and even the hand holding the sword began to tremble slightly.
"This... could this be that sword?" The doctor looked at Chen Mo, his face filled with anticipation.
Chen Mo nodded.
After stroking and tapping it for a while, the doctor suddenly turned and walked toward a machine gun set up for testing.
Chen Mo did not stop him. Reaching the machine gun, the doctor laboriously raised the sword with both hands and slashed it hard at the barrel.
Like a hot knife through butter, the entire barrel was cleanly severed without the slightest resistance, making almost no sound.
Clang! The severed barrel fell to the floor, its cut smooth and flat as a mirror.
"That's right! It has to be that legendary holy sword!"
Seeing Dr. MacLane hug the longsword and fall into a frenzy, Howard sidled up to Chen Mo with an envious expression.
"Why can the doctor touch it, but I can't?"
Ever since Chen Mo had claimed he seized the sword from the HYDRA base and started using it, Howard had often set his sights on it. Having witnessed its unstoppable power firsthand, how could he be content without getting his hands on it for a proper study?
Unfortunately, Chen Mo would not let him touch it. Since he could not beat Chen Mo in a fight, he could only stare at it helplessly.
Whenever he had nothing to do, he would pester Chen Mo to let him have the sword. When Chen Mo got annoyed, he would glare at him and draw the blade, and Howard would scurry away in disgrace.
Howard harbored deep resentment toward Chen Mo. Not only had Chen Mo taken away the shield Howard treasured, but he would not even lend him his precious sword for research. He even drew it to scare him. Though Howard knew Chen Mo would not truly cut him, the icy sharpness of the blade brushing past the back of his neck, followed by his severed tie sliding down his chest, was not a pleasant feeling. Howard felt that his poor heart could not take it, and his ties could not afford the losses either!
Even if your swordsmanship is incredible, it's still terrifying, okay?!
Faced with Howard's jealous and unwilling questioning, Chen Mo struck back mercilessly.
"The doctor can make Adamantium. Can you?"
"The doctor can recognize this sword's origins at a glance. Can you?"
Howard was left speechless.
"I... Don't forget, I got your shield for you! What's wrong with letting me take a look at your sword?"
"You seem to have forgotten that the doctor made that shield too."
"..."
Unable to argue with Chen Mo, Howard simply gave up and turned toward the doctor in a huff.
"Doctor, do you recognize this sword?"
Dr. MacLane nodded with a solemn expression.
"Yes. If I'm not mistaken, this sword should be King Arthur's final sword from legend—the King's Sword!"
As an avid enthusiast of medieval cold weapons, Dr. MacLane had conducted extensive research into those legendary weapons. He was ninety percent certain that this sword was the Steel-Cutting Sword!
Howard's eyes gleamed as he listened, and he desperately wanted to snatch the sword from the doctor's hands. However, under Chen Mo's murderous stare, he wisely chose to give up.
"Doctor, what do you think about making a King's Sword from Adamantium?" Chen Mo asked, patiently guiding him along.
The doctor's eyes immediately lit up.
