The cold-weapon enthusiast, hopelessly trapped in his obsessive compulsive tendencies, finally had his rigid mindset split open by the legendary weapon Chen Mo had produced.
"Right! How hadn't I thought of that?!"
"With Adamantium's incredible properties, weapons made from it are bound to be extraordinarily powerful—perhaps even no weaker than those legendary weapons!"
"An Adamantium Longsword paired with a shield—one for attack and one for defense. Simply perfect!"
After saying that, Dr. MacLane eagerly grabbed the longsword and rushed into the laboratory, preparing to create an Adamantium Longsword modeled after the King's Sword.
Chen Mo and Howard exchanged a glance, both silently letting out a sigh of relief.
Making the longsword did not take very long. The lab was fully equipped with every kind of device, and Dr. MacLane quickly used the King's Sword to create a new set of molds before pouring the newly formulated liquid Adamantium into them.
After cooling, the still-steaming mold was slowly opened, revealing a two-handed knight longsword that radiated a captivating silver gleam.
Dr. MacLane removed the longsword with an entranced look in his eyes, carefully stroking it as though admiring the most perfect work of art he had ever created with his own hands.
The longsword looked exactly the same as the King's Sword, but the difference in material still created quite a few distinctions between them.
No one knew what material the meteorite used to forge the King's Sword was made of, but it was extremely dense. The entire sword was immensely heavy, weighing over ten kilograms.
Adamantium, on the other hand, weighed about the same as ordinary steel. The longsword made from it was much lighter than Chen Mo's King's Sword, and Dr. MacLane could pick it up fairly easily.
Moreover, the King's Sword gave off an intensely chilling aura. The gleam on its blade was incomparably sharp, as though it could slice through every obstacle in its path. Adamantium did not possess that same quality.
After obtaining the Adamantium Longsword and admiring it for a while, the doctor eagerly returned to the severed machine gun.
The sword, which weighed only a few kilograms, was raised high by the doctor. With another identical slash, the remaining section of barrel was cut apart again, leaving behind an equally smooth cross-section.
Yet the doctor's expression was somewhat strange.
"No, that's not right!"
Chen Mo's sharp eyes immediately noticed the doctor's unusual reaction, and he heard what the doctor had muttered.
"What is it, Doctor?"
The doctor, who had been frowning in thought, looked over at Chen Mo.
"I can't quite put it into words. Although both swords can easily cut through the barrel, I feel like there's still some difference between them. I just can't say exactly what it is."
As he spoke, the doctor's eyes suddenly lit up, and he handed the Adamantium Longsword to Chen Mo.
"I nearly forgot. You're the expert in this area. Give it a try."
Chen Mo took the longsword. It was indeed much lighter than his own King's Sword. With a casual swing toward the machine gun on the ground, he easily sliced through the last remaining section of barrel. Only as the blade passed through the barrel did Chen Mo feel the slightest resistance.
Switching to the King's Sword, Chen Mo found its familiar weight much more comfortable in his hands. This time, he slashed directly at the machine gun's body. The sword flashed, and the entire machine gun was cleanly cleaved apart, reduced completely to a pile of scrap metal.
Recalling the sensation of cutting through the machine gun just now, Chen Mo realized that he might have underestimated this legendary holy sword before.
He had originally only thought it was exceptionally tough and sharp, invincible in battle, capable of easily cutting through even a tank cannon barrel. He had assumed it was no weaker than the legendary Adamantium. But now that he had a true comparison, Chen Mo discovered just how extraordinary this sword really was.
Unlike the Adamantium Longsword, which still let him feel slight resistance when cutting through the barrel, Chen Mo had not felt the tiniest obstruction when the King's Sword passed through the gun body. It was as though he had sliced not through metal, but through air.
After Chen Mo described what he had felt to the doctor, Dr. MacLane became deeply intrigued and returned to the laboratory holding both swords.
After a careful round of inspection and research, the doctor finally discovered the secret of the King's Sword.
"As expected of a legendary holy sword! I thought the Adamantium I invented could already be considered the strongest metal in existence. I never expected there to be something even more miraculous." Dr. MacLane could not help but sigh.
As it turned out, the King's Sword possessed a hidden attribute.
When swung at high speed, a special high-frequency vibrating ion layer formed across the surface of its blade. When it struck an object, it instantly destroyed the molecular structure at the point of contact, allowing it to cut through with ease and without encountering any resistance at all.
The doctor even specially made an Adamantium Plate. After obtaining Chen Mo's permission, Chen Mo personally carried out the test.
As for worrying that the longsword might be damaged, that was completely unnecessary. According to the doctor's tests, the King's Sword was no less hard than Adamantium. Even if it could not cut through it, the blade would merely be deflected and would not suffer any damage.
Chen Mo looked at the secured Adamantium Plate, gripped the sword with both hands, and brought it down in a powerful chop.
Unlike when he had cut through the machine gun without any resistance, Chen Mo could clearly feel resistance traveling up from the blade the moment it contacted the alloy plate. Even so, the blade still cut into the Adamantium. Accompanied by a piercing screech, it cleaved the plate into two pieces.
Although Adamantium had an extremely stable atomic structure, it still could not withstand the destructive force of the high-frequency vibrating ions along the blade's surface. This reminded Chen Mo of Wolverine's Adamantium claws being cut apart in Wolverine 2.
"This..." Howard stared in stunned disbelief. The Adamantium that had seemed indestructible to him moments ago had actually been cut apart by Chen Mo's King's Sword!
Yet Dr. MacLane, who should have felt disappointed, wore an excited expression instead. His eyes gleamed red as he stared fixedly at the sword in Chen Mo's hand.
"The King's Sword was said to have been forged in the Elven Realm of Avalon. Its edge could slice through iron as easily as mud, and its blade could shine more brilliantly than the sun. After the Sword in the Stone broke, King Arthur obtained it from the Lady of the Lake under the guidance of Great Mage Merlin."
"I don't know how much of those legends is true, but I feel that there are still many secrets within this sword that have yet to be discovered."
At that, the doctor looked at Chen Mo with an eager expression. "Could you let me study this sword for a little longer?"
Howard, who had only just recovered from the shock of seeing Adamantium cut apart, heard the doctor's request and immediately wore an expression that said it was absolutely impossible. He knew how much Chen Mo treasured this sword. Chen Mo would not even let him touch it. He was stingy to the extreme—how could he possibly let the doctor take it away for research?
But Chen Mo's response far exceeded his expectations.
"Yes."
Chen Mo nodded, actually agreeing to the doctor's request.
"I have the feeling too. It's not as simple as it appears." Chen Mo gently ran a hand along the blade as he spoke slowly.
Seeing Howard's disbelieving expression, Chen Mo gave a disdainful snort.
The reason he refused to let Howard touch it was because he knew Howard was merely curious. Letting him study it would only satisfy that curiosity.
Chen Mo had no intention of letting Howard, that idiot, take his favorite weapon and use it to cut fruit.
