Two Koalas!

She had originally come to the library to look up some information, but not long after sitting down, she heard two loud gunshots from the entrance. Shootings had become increasingly common in the United States in recent years, and An Ran immediately realized what was happening. Seeing the main entrance blocked by two gunmen, she forced herself to remain calm, pulled Zhang Xin and Xu Qing, who had come with her, and ran to a reading room in a corner. They hid beneath a wide table, planning to wait for the two gunmen to pass before looking for a chance to escape.

Gunshots rang out intermittently throughout the library. An Ran, Xu Qing, and Zhang Xin hid beneath the table, their faces filled with terror as they pressed themselves as far back beneath the desk as they could, afraid the two crazed gunmen would find them.

An Ran vaguely heard the two girls muttering something about "Black Man" and "Uncle," but she had no mind to think about it. Hiding beneath the table, she stared intently at a passageway not far ahead. She could tell that the gunshots were getting closer and closer. The last few shots had seemed to come from nearby—the two gunmen might have moved over!

As An Ran watched, a pair of legs suddenly entered her field of vision, walking down the passage outside the reading room where they were hiding. The person walked at an unhurried pace, utterly calm. Clearly, he was not someone fleeing and hiding like them, but one of the gunmen!

An Ran's heart leaped into her throat. Zhang Xin and Xu Qing were equally terrified, instinctively raising their hands to cover their mouths, not daring to make a sound.
