The weapons in the arsenal were mostly standard-issue military equipment. Rifles were the most numerous, with several dozen in all, followed by submachine guns and pistols, with more than a dozen of each. There were only a few machine guns and sniper rifles.
Naturally, the few of them could not use so many weapons, but no one ever complained about having too much ammunition!
The enemies they would face were zombies that often appeared in hordes, numbering in the hundreds or thousands whenever they showed up. These monsters, infected and mutated by the T-Virus, were extraordinarily resilient. Only a shot to the head could truly kill them.
When surrounded by large numbers of zombies, they usually had no time to calmly aim at them one by one. Using concentrated firepower for suppressive attacks was therefore the best option.
If they had a rifle or submachine gun and enough ammunition to sustain their firepower, no one would choose a pistol with such a low rate of fire!
This method of combat, using concentrated firepower for suppressive attacks, naturally consumed enormous amounts of ammunition. It was only because they had found this arsenal and obtained sufficient ammunition that they could afford such a terrifying rate of consumption. Otherwise, like Angel Ortiz before, they could only use their automatic rifles as semi-automatics, attacking with single shots.
By the time everyone walked out of the arsenal, each of them had several more weapons on their body!
Aside from Christo, who chose a submachine gun, everyone else took an automatic rifle. Luther West even carried out the M249 squad automatic weapon he had taken a liking to earlier.
At Chris's reminder, each of them also prepared at least one pistol as a backup weapon, for self-defense in case their primary weapon ran out of ammunition
