Chapter 31: Decisive Action
Chapter 31: Decisive Action
Someone was mixed in with the Water Ghosts, and they even had a way to avoid them. This wasn't a good sign for them, or even for the Martial Artists of Changhe County.
As soon as Li Hao spoke, Zhu Hao also reacted, lowering his voice, "What do you say? Those few people on the other side, should we kill them here?"
Zhu Hao was indeed straightforward. Since someone dared to mix in with the Water Ghosts and use such methods, their strength must be considerable. And they even dared to actively seek them out...
Li Hao quickly grabbed his hand and said urgently, "We can't fight them head-on. We don't know their background yet, and these aren't just any Water Ghosts."
"Okay, the three of them are coming over quickly. You guys keep an eye on my position later and maintain a proper distance for negotiations."
Lin Mo and the others were in an awkward position, with only the option to advance or retreat. If they turned back now, everything they had done before would be in vain.
The three people dressed in dark gray tight-fitting clothes happened to be mixed in their path forward. Once they moved forward, they would inevitably encounter them. Lin Mo simply stayed put, preparing to use a blind spot to negotiate with them.
Watching as these people slowly advanced to within thirty meters, the other group also completely confirmed the approximate location of Lin Mo and the others.
The leader, a man with a pointed face and monkey-like cheeks, asked sharply, "Brother, are you also here to clear out the Water Ghosts?"
Lin Mo and the others exchanged glances and nodded, confirming that Li Hao should be the one to negotiate. He and Zhu Hao had been in the spotlight the past few days. No matter what purpose these people came for, it was best to let the one with the lowest presence handle it.
"Indeed. Where are you brothers from?" Li Hao replied vaguely, asking back.
"Heh, we were just passing through Changhe County and saw that something wasn't right, so we came to take a look," the man replied sharply, his eyes clearly darting around. He made a gesture to the two behind him, and the three gradually spread out, forming a circle with a gap of five to six meters.
A golden light flashed in Lin Mo's eyes, and a cold smile appeared on his face. Under the [Insightful Eye], he could see their every subtle movement clearly.
"Oh, that's great. I'll definitely treat you to a good drink then. May I ask about your companions?"
"Companions? What companions, hahaha, I'm alone. These Water Ghosts are still a bit risky. I thought it would be better to team up with you, brother."
"That would be great. I have two people here," Li Hao replied with a smile.
In this situation, it was unrealistic for him to respond as if he were alone. Zhu Hao's fist techniques were fierce, and his own knife skills were clean and swift, naturally creating more noise.
The man with the pointed face and monkey-like cheeks nodded silently, understanding in his heart. A sinister smile appeared on his face, and the three pressed forward, encircling them.
Li Hao saw Lin Mo making hand gestures. The three slowly retreated, maintaining a distance of about thirty meters. Their conversation was superficial and evasive.
Zhu Hao lowered his voice, almost a whisper, "Brother Lin, what's their skill level?"
"They didn't erupt with Blood Essence. They used some strange method to hypnotize the Water Ghosts along the way. I can't tell their realm..."
Lin Mo couldn't judge for a moment, so he had the others maintain their distance. In less than a dozen breaths, the other side was becoming impatient.
"Brother, come closer to me. Let's team up. These Water Ghosts are fierce!"
The man with the pointed face and monkey-like cheeks continued to urge them on, his steps never faltering. While wary of the Water Ghosts emerging from the mist, he moved closer to Lin Mo and the others.
"Brother, we want to come over too. There are simply too many Water Ghosts," Li Hao called out loudly. Suddenly, his tone changed, "Be careful!"
Lin Mo understood immediately. He gathered his Blood Essence and kicked a Water Ghost towards them, aiming precisely at the pockmarked face on the left side of the man with the pointed face and monkey-like cheeks.
At a distance of twenty meters, coupled with Lin Mo's kick, it was so fast it almost created afterimages. The pockmarked face, who had been looking behind him, suddenly turned to face a foul-smelling maw lunging at him.
His eyes widened abruptly. He suppressed the urge to cry out, turned his steps, and his hands, like a snake's whip, firmly wrapped around the Water Ghost's head.
Almost silently, the Water Ghost's head was neatly removed, and its body was carefully placed on the ground.
"Brother, why are there footsteps on your side?"
The man didn't reply, instead asking, "May I know your name, brother?"
"The Li Family Prodigy, Li Hao! May I know where you, brother, are from..."
Li Hao was about to make a playful remark when the other side exchanged glances, nodded, and their Blood Essence erupted instantly, surging towards the direction of the voice.
"Second Level Martial Artists, three of them! And they're f*cking targeting the Li Family!"
Zhu Hao's expression changed instantly. Lin Mo had already darted past the two and charged forward. He instructed, "I'll draw two of them away. You two just need to hold off one!"
Lin Mo's target was very clear: the leader with the pointed face and monkey-like cheeks, and the pockmarked-faced man beside him. There was no other reason than simply disliking these two.
Judging by the density of their Blood Essence, the pockmarked-faced man was only at Second Level Entry, while the man with the pointed face and monkey-like cheeks was at Minor Accomplishment.
As long as he could find a way to separate them and defeat them one by one, dealing with two at once should not be a problem.
Even if he couldn't win, Lin Mo could escape with ease.
His gaze fixed on the two, he saw only white mist swirling above their heads. They seemed to have ordinary Destinies, so he figured they wouldn't have any special techniques.
Or perhaps the ability to fight beyond their level. He finally felt at ease.
"Let's see what I can do now with you two!"
Neither of them held any weapons, so they likely relied on hand-to-hand combat. However, observing the man with the pointed face and monkey-like cheeks on the left, his palms and knuckles were thick and large, emitting an abnormal greenish-gray color.
Clearly, he was skilled in poisonous palm techniques or other insidious methods. Being a Second Level Minor Accomplishment Martial Artist, Lin Mo decided to focus on the other pockmarked-faced brute.
That man was robust and covered in pockmarks. His arms had been unusually flexible when killing the Water Ghosts earlier, with an abnormal range of motion in his shoulder joints.
"At least he should be easier to deal with than that insidious guy!"
Thoughts raced through Lin Mo's mind as he took the initiative, letting out a low roar, "Watch this!"
As the sound escaped his lips, his body shot backward like a white ape, not to retreat, but to use the blind spot to circle around to their flank and rear.
Lin Mo, with his Blood Essence flowing through his body after achieving First Stage Perfected, shot out like a Beguiler. He extended his left arm, his right hand's fingers forming a halberd-like point, and with a move called 'White Ape Explores Cave,' he thrust towards the opponent's left eye.
His fingertips tore through the air, breaking through the mist with a 'chi' sound!
"Damn it, is this kid targeting me?!"
The pockmarked man was startled. He hadn't expected the opponent's attack to be so cunning and vicious within the mist, as if he could see!
He violently leaned his upper body back. His supple right arm, however, snaked upwards like a boneless venomous snake, his forearm twisting strangely as he attempted to coil around and lock Lin Mo's wrist.
Lin Mo, missing his initial strike, immediately changed his finger thrust into a sweeping palm, slamming it forcefully towards the opponent's unguarded shoulder joint.
Crack!
With a crisp sound, the pockmarked man's right sleeve burst open. A dark purple palm print was left behind, his entire 'snake arm' seemingly caught at its vital seven-inch point.
"Die!"
Lin Mo pressed his advantage, not waiting for the pockmarked man to recover from the shoulder joint's stiffening. He stepped forward and unleashed a vicious 'White Ape Cannon Fist.'
Clang!
The pockmarked man was smashed into the Water Ghosts. Before he could react, he heard a few cries of agony as the surrounding Water Ghosts immediately swarmed him, cruelly devouring him.
