Space had never been merely space.

Space and time were one whole, each describing the other through the concept of motion.

Time described the sequence and duration of motion, while space expressed the vastness of motion. Both descriptions needed the other to prove themselves, and their connection could not be divided.

This concept had been continuously instilled into every member of Zenith Civilization's educational system since their tenth year. Through brainwashing-style propaganda, every member had accepted it.

Yet apart from the handful of top-tier Advents, and Uchiha Sanae, whose altered eyes granted her a Fourth Dimension perspective, no one else in Zenith Civilization could truly experience the connection between space and time in reality.

But when Alchemy completed the construction of the Portal and, out of caution, tossed a red-haired baboon into the operating Portal, he felt the close connection between time and space.

The one-time Portal had clearly been flawless. Alchemy and his assistants had passed through it hundreds of times without issue. Yet the red-haired baboon thrown into the persistent Portal emerged at the other end as chunks of flesh scattered across the ground.

The entire baboon had been shredded into pieces of nearly equal size.

Moreover, the flesh had been torn apart by some kind of force, not sliced apart.

That was terrifying. Even the tearing force of a black hole upon a living creature should not have produced such uniformly shattered remains.

Some kind of "force" brewed within the persistent Portal, one whose destructive power even exceeded the tearing pull of a black hole's attractive force.

In experiments using the Virtual Black Hole, half a pig was first stretched into a noodle-like strip before breaking into more than a dozen chunks of meat. It had never been torn into thousands of equally sized fragments.
