The ritual with the Micro-Birds was exceedingly difficult, because they had to withstand the immense gravity of that supermassive abyssal ruin, as well as the torrential flood of ultra-high-temperature matter on its event horizon, accelerated to near light speed.
That was the abyssal ruin's accretion disk.
An accretion disk was a structure made of vast amounts of matter revolving around a central body, rather like a whirlpool. The disk spun around the abyssal ruin at tremendous speed, overcoming friction and causing the gas to spiral gradually downward until it was accreted into the abyssal ruin itself.
During this process, some matter would be flung away, hurled into distant extraterritorial space, becoming part of the World Fountain.
Other matter would be swallowed by the abyssal ruin, increasing its mass and making it ever more immense.
During this process, matter was repeatedly accelerated in cycles by the abyssal ruin, generating immense heat and friction. Even the core of the sun was not a fraction as hot as this place.
To work here, one had to resist temperatures capable of vaporizing all matter, as well as the scouring torrent of matter traveling near light speed. One careless slip, and one would be swept into it. Getting back out then would be troublesome indeed.
If one were swallowed by the abyssal ruin's event horizon, one would never emerge again—at least, that was true for a fifth-rank cultivator.
However, for Li Qi's little fifth-rank squad, these dangers were within controllable limits. They were no more dangerous than fighting a powerful fifth-rank practitioner of the Human Path.
After all, fighting required risking one's life too. Coming here to explore was naturally no different.
Once they arrived, everyone began their work.
"Have the three anchor points been secured?" Li Qi guarded one anchor point and called out
