Explosion and Fire
Zero looked at Room 936, which had been blown beyond recognition. All the furniture inside had vanished, leaving only half a bed frame still burning. The window glass had been blasted into powder at the first instant. There was also a huge hole blown directly through the wall, and wind howled in from outside.
Naturally, the worst part was the center of the explosion. The tremendous blast had collapsed half the ceiling. Beneath the concrete and bricks lay Exoskeleton Gear that had been torn into pieces, with some components having flown straight out of the room.
Given Zero's caution, he naturally would not have his own men open the door directly. In fact, his method had been similar to Zhang Heng's: he had found a guinea pig to scout ahead. But Zero was more straightforward. He could not even be bothered to use his identity as a police officer, simply pointing a gun at a hotel guest and forcing him to open the door.
Needless to say, that unlucky man had borne the brunt of the explosion and been swallowed by the flames that rushed at him. He now lay on the ground, no longer breathing. Even Number 5, who had been roughly seven or eight meters behind him, had been hit.
Numbers 2 and 7 were now busy treating Number 5's shoulder and chest injuries. The most serious wound had been caused by a finger-sized metal fragment that had struck Number 5's right shoulder and ultimately lodged in his shoulder blade.
Number 5 bit down on his shirt as he watched Number 2 pull the metal fragment from his shoulder blade. Then Number 7 swiftly disinfected the wound, stitched it up, and sprayed it with medical gel. The entire procedure was clean and efficient, no worse
