Background / History
Kaguya first encounters Natsume in the Land of Ancestors while pregnant with Hagoromo and Hamura. Though she initially treats him with suspicion and tests him by absorbing his chakra, she accepts his claimed Ōtsutsuki connection and later allows him to assist with the twins' birth 185 186.
Natsume introduces her to chakra refinement and proposes the Heavenly Net: a system through which humans exchange chakra for ninjutsu and other benefits. Kaguya recognizes the plan's value, distributes chakra seeds to three hundred people, and allows the system's expansion into the Goddess Army 186 187 188. Under their direction, the army eventually unifies the world 192.
Initially ascetic and focused almost exclusively on chakra, Kaguya gradually becomes dependent on Natsume's judgment and begins learning about affection from books and human experiences. She comes to recognize her feelings for him, later declares her love, and chooses to protect their relationship against Isshiki Ōtsutsuki 189 192 195.
After Isshiki is released from his seal, Kaguya captures him with Amenominaka and ultimately drains and absorbs his chakra until he dies. She then removes the restored Ten-Tails from the battlefield through Amenominaka 323 324.
Appearance
Kaguya is an exceptionally tall Ōtsutsuki woman—over two meters tall—with an otherworldly, noble presence. In her true form, her appearance immediately distinguishes her from humans 185 197.
- Long blue-white hair reaching the ground 185
- Two horns atop her head 185
- Snow-white Byakugan 186
- Rinne Sharingan in her forehead when her power is unsealed 195
- Can retract her horns and forehead eye, making her resemble a particularly noble Hyuga clan member 197
- Later awakens a purple-hued Tenseigan 301
Personality
Kaguya begins as cold, terse, and detached. She regards ordinary humans as insignificant and has little understanding of human customs, emotion, or learned ninja techniques; her priorities are strength, chakra, and the Divine Tree 187 198 259.
Despite this, she is highly receptive to practical ideas. Natsume's knowledge of chakra refinement, ninjutsu, strategy, and the Heavenly Net earns her respect and trust, to the point that she repeatedly relies on his judgment when confronting Isshiki and managing her forces 187 189 197.
Her relationship with Natsume changes her substantially. She learns to recognize liking and love, becomes protective of him, enjoys food, games, travel, and clothing, and shows affection with increasing openness despite retaining her reserved manner 188 192 216 271.
Abilities & Skills
Ōtsutsuki Chakra and Kekkei Mōra
Kaguya possesses overwhelming chakra and all five elemental affinities alongside Yin and Yang Release. This allows her to overpower entities formed from natural energy and spiritual power through raw force alone 190.
- Can share chakra to empower others, including Natsume and Nagato 191 260 322
- Sacrifices a major amount of chakra to perform Rin Nohara's true resurrection 327
- Can compress beings into pure energy, as she does to Mōryō 230
- Uses Truth-Seeking Balls formed from Yin-Yang Release and seven chakra natures 224
- Shapes Truth-Seeking Balls into weapons, including a black staff gifted to Natsume 224
Byakugan, Rinne Sharingan, and Tenseigan
Kaguya's dōjutsu grant perception, dimensional control, chakra manipulation, and authority over Ōtsutsuki-derived power.
- Her Byakugan perceives Natsume's hidden Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan and Sage Body 186
- Byakugan: Pressure forces the souls bound within the Box of Paradise back into the artifact 216
- Her Rinne Sharingan grants Amenominaka, allowing her to move herself and others into dimensions under her control 194 195
- Yomotsu Hirasaka opens portals between dimensions, though Isshiki's final seal can temporarily prevent its use 196
- Takes control of the Giant Tenseigan simply through superior bloodline and later awakens her own Tenseigan 300 301
Dimensional Combat
Kaguya uses Amenominaka tactically rather than merely for travel. She lures Isshiki into the Frozen Mountains dimension, where he cannot freely escape through spatial techniques 195.
- Amenominaka's initial dimension links to the Lava Prison, Frozen Mountains, Sea of Sulfuric Acid, Endless Desert, and Supergravity Space 195
- Can isolate opponents in hostile environments before attacking them 195
- Removes the Ten-Tails from the battlefield instantly through Amenominaka 324
Taijutsu and Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack
After observing Natsume's combat methods, Kaguya begins considering technique rather than relying exclusively on superior power. She learns and applies the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms against Isshiki 190 194 195.
- Delivers the complete Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms to overwhelm Isshiki in close combat 195
- Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack produces countless chakra fists capable of shattering the White Snake Sage's defenses even while she holds back 196 259
- Uses Gohashō bone projectiles to critically injure Isshiki 196
Divine Tree and Ten-Tails Authority
Having consumed the Divine Tree's chakra fruit, Kaguya holds dominion over its power and the Tailed Beasts created from it 195 264.
- Matatabi instinctively recognizes her as connected to the Divine Tree and submits to her 264
- Commands the nine Tailed Beasts during their return to the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path 322
- Takes control of the Demonic Statue and reforms the Tailed Beasts into the Ten-Tails 322
- Removes the restored Ten-Tails after Isshiki's defeat 324
Creation and Soul Manipulation
Kaguya can dismantle powerful artifacts and repurpose their spiritual contents.
- Destroys the Box of Paradise, which had endured attacks such as Rasengan and Tailed Beast Bombs 216
- Forges a black bow from the Box's trapped souls and emotions for Hinata Hyuga 216
- The bow automatically creates arrows and absorbs the emotions—and, upon death, souls—of those struck by it 216
- Removes radiation from a Ten-Tails fragment and improves the Caged Bird scroll for Hinata 279
