Background

Orphanage and Wood Style awakening

Natsume arrives at Konoha as a war orphan living under Nono U’s care. Seeking protection from either Hiruzen Sarutobi or Tsunade, he deliberately reveals the Wood Style talent purchased through his Destiny Point system. His initial manifestation is crude and painful, but it is enough for Nono U to recognize the kekkei genkai’s significance. 1

He invokes his lost memories and possible Senju ancestry to direct Nono U toward Tsunade rather than the Third Hokage. Tsunade verifies that his Wood Style is genuine and accepts responsibility for training him. 2

Tsunade’s pupil

Natsume begins living with Tsunade and Shizune, developing a familial bond with both while receiving direct instruction in Wood Style. Tsunade identifies Water Release and Earth Release as his elemental affinities, with Water Release becoming his preferred public specialty. 4 7 17

He contacts Orochimaru through Wood Clones and trades intelligence about Root’s Wood Style survivor, Yamato, for access to future cooperation and Hashirama-cell research.
