Background / History

Jingwei spent centuries in the Taixu Realm alongside Crimson Kite. As a spirit beast, she formed an overwhelming attachment to the first human she encountered, regarding Crimson Kite as her entire world and willingly serving as her pet and companion. 106

While Crimson Kite underwent her transformation in the Taixu Realm, Jingwei waited nearby and reacted with embarrassment and fascination to her changed appearance. She later discovered an unconscious human girl within Fuyun Temple and faithfully guarded her until Crimson Kite determined that she was safe. 50 52

Jingwei attained human form after sensing changes in Taixu Mountain's energy while guarding Crimson Kite's seclusion. Her transformation was initially incomplete: she could shift her body to evade an attack but could not yet turn her feathers into clothing. 56 57

After Fu Hua's apparent death, Jingwei carried her body back to Taixu Mountain and attempted to revive her in Zhishui Lake. She spent years gathering spirit-energy-rich plants and continued waiting by the lake for a thousand years. 96 97 109 Her resolve hardened during this period; by the time Fu Hua awakened, Jingwei sought to prove that she was no longer someone who needed protection. 106 109

When Fu Hua later chose to leave the Taixu Realm, she urged Jingwei to mature independently rather than remain dependent on her. Jingwei was hurt by this decision but remained determined to become strong enough to stand at Fu Hua's side. 110 136

In beast form, Jingwei is a crimson-feathered kite bird with fiery eyes and powerful wings. In human form, she closely resembles Crimson Kite, to the point that observers initially mistake them for one another. 50 56 67

Personality

Jingwei is intensely loyal, possessive, and protective toward Crimson Kite. Any perceived threat to Crimson Kite, Fu Hua's recovery, or Taixu Mountain provokes a fierce response; she has declared that those who disturb Crimson Kite's cultivation will be killed without mercy. 103 104

Away from Crimson Kite, Jingwei is lively, curious, gluttonous, and frequently childish. She eagerly samples unfamiliar food, lacks restraint around osmanthus cakes, and manipulated Huo Wu into treating her to street food. 67 69 She also holds grudges, speaks bluntly to opponents, and takes particular offense when others endanger Fu Hua. 119 120

Her attachment to Crimson Kite also makes her jealous of Qian Renxue and fearful of separation. Over time, however, she develops greater composure and a desire to become someone worthy of fighting beside her mistress. 56 106 110
