Martial Souls are treated as the foundation of the Douluo Continent’s Soul Master system: they store Soul Power, manifest at a user’s command, and mediate the use of Soul Rings and soul skills. Most Soul Masters do not know where a Martial Soul resides within the body, since its manifestation and skills normally function automatically after awakening. 62

Xiao Yun initially awakens a dull gray bead with no Innate Soul Power. Despite attempting cultivation when young, he abandons the conventional Soul Master path because of this apparent lack of aptitude. His later development provides a direct example of a supposedly wasted Martial Soul undergoing acquired transformation. 1 396 849

Xiao Yun’s research challenges established doctrine throughout the Martial Soul Theory Debate. Yu Xiaogang argues that Martial Soul quality directly determines Innate Soul Power and that inheritance always favors the stronger parent’s Martial Soul. Soul Power Metamorphosis

High-Level Manifestation

At Soul Saint rank, a Soul Master gains a Martial Soul Avatar: Beast Martial Souls undergo complete beastification, while Tool Martial Souls enlarge and materialize for vastly greater destructive power. A normal Avatar lasts up to half an hour and causes roughly a week of weakness afterward. 697

Soul Douluos gain greater control over their Avatars, longer duration, reduced strain, shorter post-use weakness, and flight. Peak level 89 Soul Douluos can nearly use an Avatar without restriction. 697

Martial Souls can also form Martial Soul Fusion Skills when compatible users combine their manifestations and Soul Power. Xie Yue and Hu Liena’s Moon Blades and Demon Fox Martial Souls, for example, fuse into the powerful Demon Charm. 610

The Golden Iron Triangle's Golden Sacred Dragon fusion uses Yu Xiaogang's Luo Sanpao as its core and vessel. Xiao Yun cites this as evidence of Luo Sanpao's dormant Golden Sacred Dragon bloodline rather than treating the fusion's dragon form as unrelated to its component Martial Souls. 96

Twin Martial Soul Ring Development

A second Martial Soul can receive high-age Soul Rings from the beginning if its owner has already developed sufficient bodily strength and Spiritual Power through earlier cultivation. Bibi Dong begins attaching rings to her second Martial Soul at the Ten-Thousand-Year level. When Xiao Yun displays the Green Lotus Sword with six Ten-Thousand-Year rings, Moon Guan interprets the configuration as evidence of a similarly developed second Martial Soul; this remains Moon Guan's inference about Xiao Yun rather than an explanation confirmed by Xiao Yun. 619

Unconventional Soul Ring Growth

Xiao Yun also considers martial artist cultivation a possible means of improving Innate Soul Power, using Tang San's otherworldly cultivation methods as his principal example. This proposed effect is part of his assessment of alternative cultivation routes rather than a universal rule established for every practitioner. 698

Ling'er presents an unresolved departure from the familiar system: she does not understand the term Martial Soul and states that she has never manifested one. Xiao Yun recognizes that her ignorance is genuine and explains the conventional relationship between awakening, Soul Power, Soul Rings, and soul skills to her. 1041

Xiao Yun proposes that Luo Sanpao's independent intelligence represents an awakened intellectual aspect of the Golden Sacred Dragon without its complete dragon body. In his analysis, suitable rings could have replenished the missing aspects and increased its dragon bloodline, whereas Yu Xiaogang's chosen rings fixed it in its degraded form. Evolution can also change soul skills already carried by the Martial Soul. Martial Soul Divine Hall System

The Martial Soul Divine Hall in White Jade Capital uses a system fundamentally different from ordinary Douluo Continent Martial Souls. Its stone-sculpture Martial Souls require six independent Soul Ring types—Fierce Beast, Spider, Python, Shield Armor, Flying, and Plant—for complete activation. 576

• These Soul Rings are formed through a special energy-gathering and conversion process rather than by killing Soul Beasts. 576
• They do not grant soul skills; instead, they improve Origin Abilities and base attributes. 576
• Rare-grade Martial Souls require six Ten-Year to Hundred-Year Soul Rings, provide an inherent 5% Martial Soul base-attribute increase, and can register two War Spirits. 576 577
• Epic-grade Martial Souls require Thousand-Year Soul Rings, grant a 10% base-attribute bonus and an active soul skill, and can register three War Spirits. 577

The Divine Hall contains four independent spaces: the Martial Soul Hall, Martial Soul Detection Hall, Godhead Condensation Hall, and Martial Soul Synthesis Hall. Its sculptures are arranged in concentric grades, with seventy-two Rare, thirty-six Epic, eighteen Legendary, and nine Mythic Martial Souls. 576

Xiao Yun's initial activations include Rare Martial Souls such as the concealment-oriented Mist Gourd, perception-enhancing Crystal Eye, and Sausage Spirit. His three initial Epic activations are Swift Wind Wolf, Thousand-Petal Lotus, and Copper Ghost Mask, granting the active skills Swiftness, Life, and Breath Concealment respectively. 577

Soul Ring Attribute Bonuses

Each of the six Soul Ring types emphasizes a different base attribute while also supplying Health, Spirit Armor, and Attack. The following values apply to individual Ten-Year rings. 577

Hundred-Year rings approximately double these bonuses; Thousand-Year and Ten-Thousand-Year sets double them again at each step. Xiao Yun estimates that Hundred-Thousand-Year sets may continue the doubling pattern, but has not yet obtained a complete set when making this assessment. 577

Godhead Condensation Hall

The Martial Soul Divine Hall’s Godhead Condensation Hall contains a Godhead Core that increases the base Health and Attack of Xiao Yun and all War Spirits as its level rises. Unlocking its milestone abilities also requires the rare primordial substance known as a Chaos Soul Meridian. 577
