November 4, Monday.
The first class of the afternoon was Arithmancy Class. Professor Setima Victor was unaffected by the recent turmoil and, as usual, assigned an enormous amount of homework. The questions were obscure and difficult to understand, the calculations tedious and complicated, and the answer sheet alone was three feet long. It was expected to consume an entire stack of scrap parchment.
What a headache.
Fortunately, Loren and Hermione both had thick enough hair. They were still young, and whatever they lost would grow back. Unlike a certain Slytherin House student who wished to remain unnamed and whose surname was Malfoy—his hairline was already worrying at such a young age. He would probably go bald in the future.
After bidding Professor Victor farewell, the two packed their bags and headed for their next classroom. Up next was Professor Bashat's Defense Against the Dark Arts.
As one of Hogwarts's core subjects since its founding, despite the high turnover rate among its professors, unstable teaching quality, and even the possibility of unforeseen dangers during class, many students still chose the Advanced Class in Defense Against the Dark Arts, considering the steadily worsening situation in the wizarding world.
On the way to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, students passed by them from time to time. Those who recognized them would smile and exchange greetings. Of course, there were exceptions. Like now—Parvati gave the two a meaningful look, while Lavender snorted coldly and hurried away, dragging Parvati with her.
Loren turned to the young Witch. "Did we get caught up in this?"
"Mm." Hermione nodded helplessly.
"Is Lavender all right?"
"She cried when she returned to the dormitory last night. This morning, her eyes were so swollen she could barely open them. Parvati had to take her to the Hospital Wing."
