History

Qian Daoliu was Spirit Hall's Pope before passing the position to his only son, Qian Xunji. After retiring from direct administration, he remained Spirit Hall's Great Worship and its foremost protector. He had previously lost to Tang Chen, but honored a promise not to let Spirit Hall act arbitrarily against the Clear Sky Sect so long as it remained within its territory 14 21.

When Bibi Dong reported Chen Xilin's Dark Holy Dragon martial soul and abnormal spirit-ring configuration, Qian Daoliu recognized its exceptionally pure Dark Attribute. Unlike Qian Xunji, he did not immediately call for Chen Xilin's death and expressed confidence that Bibi Dong's Twin Martial Souls could rival the young prodigy 20.

He later exposed Chen Xilin's disguise, examined his cultivation, and explained the history of the destroyed Dark Holy Dragon Clan. Impressed by Chen Xilin's talent and character, Qian Daoliu invited him into Spirit Hall; Chen declined in favor of freedom. Qian Daoliu subsequently warned Qian Xunji against turning Chen Xilin into an enemy 31.

As Chen Xilin's strength rose, Qian Daoliu's restraint gave way to alarm. He convened the Worships, used Divine Revelation to help selected Titled Douluo awaken Bone Armor True Bodies, and accepted severe risks to strengthen Spirit Hall against the growing threat 140 141.

Believing Chen Xilin had become too dangerous to leave unchecked, Qian Daoliu attacked the Myriad Beasts Sect with the Angel Holy Sword. Chen Xilin repelled him and forced him to provide ten spirit bones, including two hundred-thousand-year soul bones. The confrontation visibly aged Qian Daoliu 163 164.

Following Qian Xunji's death, Qian Daoliu was devastated and sought to vent his grief through a duel with Chen Xilin. Although he discovered Bibi Dong had poisoned his son, he spared her for the sake of Qian Renxue and Qian Renyu 173.

After learning the Soul Core method, he challenged Tang Chen again. His Angel techniques, Ring Fusion, divine power, and Dual Soul Cores initially secured a concession from Tang Chen, but Tang Chen ultimately defeated him with the Asura Demon Sword and his own Dual Soul Cores 216 217 219. Chen Xilin and Chen Yuelin then pushed Qian Daoliu to abandon his fixation on the Six-winged Angel martial soul and pursue godhood through swordsmanship instead 220 257.

Qian Daoliu appears as a striking, golden-haired middle-aged man despite his great age. He commonly wears simple gray robes and carries himself with calm, sacred authority 30 31.

Personality

Qian Daoliu is principled, proud, and deeply bound by promises. Despite Spirit Hall's political ambitions, he refused to permit unrestricted aggression against the Clear Sky Sect because of his pledge to Tang Chen. He sees the Angel Clan as protectors of humanity and rebuked Qian Xunji for wanting to kill Chen Xilin simply because the boy refused recruitment 21 31.

His morality is constrained by duty to Spirit Hall and his family. He can show compassion—purifying Tang Zhen's Dark Aura and sparing Bibi Dong after discovering her role in Qian Xunji's death—but he can also become ruthless when he believes the Angel Clan faces an existential danger 95 163 173. His attempt to kill Qian Renyu after the boy awakened a Fallen Angel martial soul shows how seriously he takes the Angel God's will, though he ultimately allowed Qian Renxue to decide her brother's fate 185.

Tang Chen remained Qian Daoliu's greatest lifelong obsession. Repeated defeat damaged his fighting spirit, but he eventually found renewed purpose after accepting that his martial soul had become a limitation rather than an advantage 217 220.
