Background

Su Yu grew up under Lin Jing’s custody, where she learned to suppress her own needs and act like a “good child” to avoid upsetting adults. Her mother treated her calls with Su Jiang as a source of anger and threatened to send her away if she continued speaking to him. 19 606

At a little over five years old, Su Yu was sent to live with her father, Su Jiang. She arrived dragging a suitcase nearly as large as herself and initially remained wary, sensitive, and overly self-reliant. Su Jiang began building trust by caring for her daily life and assuring her that his home was hers as well. 26 27

Su Yu became noticeably happier while living with Su Jiang, later calling him “Auntie” after his transformation into Su Xi. She also formed a close bond with Kurumi, who treated her protectively and became another dependable presence in the household. 44 78 606
