Background

Chakra is the foundation of ninjutsu and body techniques. It is extracted from the body's cells and mixed with spiritual energy; refinement theory also encompasses meridians, acupoints, cells, methods of increasing reserves, and practical application. 4

Its quality depends on both components. Higher-quality physical energy produces purer and more abundant chakra, while purer spiritual energy gives chakra stronger individual characteristics and greater destructive force. 296

Sage Chakra is produced by mixing physical energy, spiritual energy, and Natural Energy in a one-to-one-to-one ratio. Natural Energy is violent and difficult to draw into the body and control, making Sage Chakra difficult to refine without training or guidance. 173

Chakra Reserves

Chakra quantity varies greatly by individual. Naruto's reserves are described as less than one percent comparable to Kakashi's total only when considering Naruto alone, before adding Kurama's reserves. 55

Kurama's chakra can be absorbed and transformed by Naruto, contributing to his exceptionally abundant reserves. Kurama can also absorb Natural Energy, refine chakra, restore Naruto's physical injuries and mental energy, and support prolonged combat provided Naruto does not overexert himself within a short period. 57 82

After developing Ten-Tails-like traits, Naruto's body begins automatically drawing in surrounding Natural Energy, converting it into physical and spiritual energy, then refining increasingly vast and pure chakra. 265

Chakra Absorption

Chakra can be extracted and repurposed because absorption is an inherent loophole in the chakra system rather than an artificial weakness. The Rinnegan's Deva Path is one source from which chakra-absorption technology was analyzed. 279

• Its residual emotions cause severe discomfort even after Rinnegan absorption. 296
• Chakra with sufficiently strong personal traits can be set to trigger against a particular emotional condition; Naruto creates an application that detonates the emotional energy and destroys the soul of anyone harboring malice toward him. 311

Dark Chakra and Positive Energy Chakra

Naruto expands Emotional Chakra research through Satori, Zero-Tails, Shinnō's research, and Kurama's Evil Intent Sensing. 301

• Dark Chakra — refined by absorbing emotional spiritual power such as pain, anger, and killing intent. 301
• Positive Energy Chakra — refined from emotions such as joy, struggle, love, and fervor. 301
• Both can be formed from Naruto's own emotions and the emotional spiritual energy emitted by others. 301

• Raising chakra above Natural Energy's priority remains an unresolved objective; Naruto considers stronger personal characteristics and control the path forward. 280
• Emotional spiritual energy from unrelated people can be collected, but conversion into usable chakra is inefficient. 301
