A middle-aged man in white, with a thick beard covering his upper lip, swaggered into the Scripture Pavilion with sixteen men.
"That's Fan Wuyang of the White Lotus Sect!"
On the third floor where Su Que stood, a martial artist looked down below and said to his companion:
"I heard Fan Wuyang is a Three Blood Martial Artist. The unique skill he knows, the 'Yin Wind Claw,' is exceedingly formidable!"
"I wonder what the White Lotus Sect has come here to do?" Su Que looked down at the first floor as well, thinking.
"Move every last one of these books out for me!"
Fan Wuyang gave a shout. The sixteen men behind him immediately took bolts of cloth from the bundles on their backs and spread them across the floor, intending to carry the volumes from the shelves and pile them atop the cloth.
Fan Wuyang had coveted the Lu Family Manor's Martial Arts manuals for a long time. But while Lu Jutian had yet to disperse his cultivation, Fan Wuyang had not been confident of victory and thus had not come.
Now that he had confirmed Lu Jutian had dispersed his cultivation, he had brought men here in a menacing rush to seize the Martial Arts manuals.
"White Lotus Sect, don't go too far in bullying others!"
A person wearing a leopard mask pinched his throat and shrieked.
He did not wish to reveal either his face or his voice to the White Lotus Sect.
"That's right, White Lotus Sect! Don't bully people too far!"
The other masked martial artists pinched their throats as well, shouting one after another at the White Lotus Sect.
These fiends of the White Lotus Sect actually dared interfere with their perusal of Martial Arts manuals.
They refused to believe that a mere dozen or so White Lotus Sect members could defeat over a hundred martial artists.
"Such noise!"
Seeing someone defy him, Fan Wuyang's phoenix eyes flashed with a sharp gleam.
He curled his fingers into claws with both hands and lunged at the first person who had challenged him!
His knuckles turned white, and as he struck, a faint chill rose from his claws.
Seeing Fan Wuyang attack, the martial artist who had first challenged him retreated while raising a fist and smashing it toward Fan Wuyang's claw.
The next instant, Fan Wuyang's claw met the martial artist's fist.
The martial artist immediately felt his fist turn cold and numb, as though a thousand tiny ice blades had pierced into his skin.
Just as the martial artist's fist was about to be crippled by Fan Wuyang, the sound of wind suddenly rose!
The martial artists nearby moved as well. Two threw punches, two struck with palms, and three lashed out with kicks, all attacking Fan Wuyang together.
Not wishing to be injured, Fan Wuyang could only abandon the martial artist who had first challenged him and evade the attacks about to land on him.
Those who practiced Martial Arts were mostly fond of fighting. Seeing others attack the White Lotus Sect, the martial artists all surged forward to attack them as well.
The sixteen White Lotus Disciples who had come with Fan Wuyang had no choice but to fight back.
Though Fan Wuyang was a Three Blood Martial Artist and knew the ultimate art of the "Yin Wind Claw," making him the strongest person present,
he still could not withstand sheer numbers. With more than a dozen martial artists proficient in all manner of techniques besieging him, he found it difficult to cope for the moment.
What was more, there were over a hundred people in this Scripture Pavilion. If those hundred people killed the White Lotus Sect disciples he had brought, then turned and besieged him together, he likely would not leave this Scripture Pavilion alive today.
Swish!
Fan Wuyang clawed down fiercely. With a rip, he tore away not only a large portion of that martial artist's clothes over the chest, but also a chunk of flesh from his chest, leaving blood streaming everywhere.
The flesh around the wound had taken on an eerie bluish-gray hue.
After blocking a kick with his elbow, Fan Wuyang stepped back and said in a clear voice:
"Everyone, stop. I was merely joking just now. I had no intention of disturbing your perusal of the manuals."
Seeing Fan Wuyang's slight retreat, hearing his words, and looking at the martial artist he had just injured,
the crowd stopped fighting.
Since the White Lotus Sect no longer intended to disturb them, they did not wish to fight them either.
Although they could certainly kill Fan Wuyang if they besieged him,
some among them would surely be dragged down with him.
And no one wished to be that person.
Still, the White Lotus Sect had always had a poor reputation.
Though Fan Wuyang said this, many still did not trust him. They remained on guard, wary that Fan Wuyang might resort to trickery.
Fan Wuyang clasped his hands behind his back and ignored the crowd. He gave a low instruction to the sixteen men behind him.
Then the sixteen nodded together and walked toward the various bookshelves, seemingly searching for something.
After roughly half an hour, the sixteen men had searched every bookshelf from top to bottom.
They then went to Fan Wuyang's side and spoke to him in low voices.
"Call your master here!"
After hearing what the sixteen men had said, Fan Wuyang spoke to the servant standing off to one side in the Scripture Pavilion.
The servant did not dare disobey and hurried out at a run.
A short while later, Lu Jianghai, Lu Jutian's eldest son, arrived outside the Scripture Pavilion.
Though Lu Jianghai had inherited his father's cultivation, he believed he had the strength to fight Fan Wuyang.
If Fan Wuyang had been alone, he would not have feared him.
What he feared was that killing Fan Wuyang would bring retaliation from the White Lotus Sect.
Thus, his manner was respectful, and he did not dare offend Fan Wuyang.
"Your Scripture Pavilion doesn't have your Lu Family's 'Wedding Dress Divine Skill,' does it?" Fan Wuyang said.
Su Que and the gathered martial artists immediately understood that Fan Wuyang had been looking for the "Wedding Dress Divine Skill" earlier.
Though the martial artists now looked down upon the "Wedding Dress Divine Skill,"
and Fan Wuyang himself would not practice the "Wedding Dress Divine Skill,"
some low-ranking White Lotus Sect disciples, or some fanatics within the sect, would be willing to practice this Martial Arts technique that harmed themselves in exchange for greatly increased strength.
The White Lotus Sect had relied on seizing the "Seven Injuries Fist Manual" to train a large force of low-level fighters.
If they obtained the "Wedding Dress Divine Skill" as well, the White Lotus Sect's overall combat strength would rise by another level.
Hearing that the White Lotus Sect wanted the "Wedding Dress Divine Skill," Lu Jianghai was taken aback.
After all, the "Wedding Dress Divine Skill" was the Lu Family's inherited ultimate art, and they had developed an attachment to this internal art.
They were not very willing to simply hand it over.
However, the White Lotus Sect was growing increasingly rampant.
If they refused, after Fan Wuyang left, he would very likely summon White Lotus Sect disciples from elsewhere to come and wipe out the Lu Family Manor completely.
Forget it. From this day onward, the Lu Family Manor will leave Tenglong Town and live in seclusion elsewhere!
Lu Jianghai made up his mind, then sighed.
"Very well, Hall Master Fan. Please wait a moment. I will fetch the 'Wedding Dress Divine Skill.'"
After about the time it took to drink a cup of tea, Lu Jianghai returned.
There was an additional Martial Arts manual in his hand.
Su Que had sharp eyes. Even from the third floor, he could still see the four words "Wedding Dress Divine Skill" written on the manual's cover.
Then he watched with his own eyes as Lu Jianghai handed the manual to Fan Wuyang.
Fan Wuyang flipped through it and roughly confirmed that it was genuine before stuffing it into his robes.
Then, with his hands behind his back, he went from shelf to shelf, looking for Martial Arts suited to himself.
Obtaining the Wedding Dress Divine Skill was only one of his purposes in coming here.
His other purpose was the same as that of most martial artists.
He wanted to find a Martial Arts manual in the Scripture Pavilion that suited his cultivation.
And Fan Wuyang, pacing with his hands behind his back, had no idea that someone had already set their sights on him.
