"Aaron, do you really think George W. Bush can beat Al Gore?"
In the alley outside the bar, Jack Wells and Aaron smoked as they discussed this year's election.
Aaron smiled, exhaled a puff of smoke, and asked casually, "What, you don't have faith in him?"
"Ha, not much," Jack Wells said with an interesting expression. "How should I put it? George W. Bush is the typical third-generation rich kid and Texas bum."
"Not only is he dumb as a pig, his speaking skills are downright jaw-dropping. I don't even know how someone like that could win the public's support!"
Aaron shrugged. "It doesn't matter. At least the Bush family has abundant resources, and besides, many of our businesses can more easily gain the Republican Party's support."
"Honestly, whoever becomes president now won't have much impact on us. There are too many members of Congress and civic groups connected to us."
"Don't forget, I have CBS Television in my hands now!"
Jack Wells nodded. "True enough. Clinton's sex scandal really did turn the Democratic Party into a joke."
"If George W. Bush takes office, at least he can block out all those messy LGBT voices and news about Black people and other ethnic minorities."
Aaron glanced at him. Had Jack Wells spent too long in Texas? He was becoming more and more of a redneck in his thinking.
He patted him on the shoulder. "Remember this: religion, feminism, racism, and all that are merely tools used by the upper class."
"The public needs guidance. Whatever news we let them see becomes the truth. Everything that requires effort and money to promote is ultimately for profit."
