The Black Dragon Acnologia Enters the World
Faced with Zeref's disdain, the doctor smiled self-deprecatingly and said, "Yes! I admit that my abilities are inferior to Prince Sordil's, but my desire to slay the Evil Dragon and protect humanity is second to none!"
"In that case, you must give me time to improve the Dragon Slayer Magic, otherwise, the person you want to protect may very well die at your own hands!" (Zeref)
"What do you mean by that, (doctor)?"
"Didn't I just say? Current Dragon Slayer Magic has extremely strong side effects. With prolonged use, it can make a person extremely manic, lose their sanity, and may even cause some degree of alteration to the user's body. That's why I'm unwilling to hand it over to you now! (Zeref)"
"Then... how long will it take to complete the improvements?" (Doctor)
"It will probably take another three days or so for me to complete the improvements, and then..."
"Boom!"
Before Zeref could finish his sentence, he was abruptly interrupted by an explosion that suddenly landed in the courtyard.
"Roar! Slaughter all the humans below!"
"It's Evil Dragon! It's Evil Dragon from the Western Continent! Everyone, run!"
"Help!"
"Boom!"
Hearing the shouts and explosions outside the courtyard, the two doctors who had just crawled out of the rubble instantly realized that they probably wouldn't have time to make any magical improvements.
"Zeref, give me Acnologia's power immediately, or these Evil Dragon will slaughter everyone outside!"
Faced with the doctor's request, Zeref hesitated.
Seeing Zeref frowning in thought, the doctor said anxiously, "Zeref, what are you still hesitating for? We don't have time!"
"But... (Zeref)"
"But what? Do we have another way to go now? (Doctor)"
After pondering for a long time, Zeref realized that they really had no better solution than the path the doctor had pointed out! Helpless, he had no choice but to agree to the doctor's request.
"Alright! Come with me!"
With that, Zeref led the doctor back into the ruins. After some searching, the two crawled into a hole hidden under the floor.
Looking at the empty underground space around him, the doctor asked in surprise, "Zeref, I've been with you these past few days and I've never seen you leave the room. When did you dig such a big hole?"
"Heh! With just Earth Shape-Making Magic, a hole like this can be created in just a few minutes. (Zeref)"
"Haha! Knowing magic is so convenient! (Doctor)"
"Hmph! What's this? If Bandit were here... (Zeref)"
His words abruptly stopped, and then Zeref strode forward with heavy steps.
"Zeref, don't be sad, I will avenge you!" (Doctor)
Hearing the doctor's words, Zeref stopped, turned around and smiled at the doctor, then said, "I'll let him take Bandit on his own. You just need to protect yourself!"
After saying that, Zeref walked away without looking back. The doctor stood there dumbfounded and confused for a moment before hurriedly following him.
A moment later, the two arrived at a large hall that was the size of three or four football fields.
Looking at the giant dragon displayed in the center of the hall, the doctor's fists clenched involuntarily, making a cracking sound.
"Calm down, he's dead!" (Zeref)
After taking a few deep breaths, the doctor said apologetically, "I'm sorry, I was too excited just now!"
"Calm down right now, otherwise it might cause unnecessary trouble when casting Dragon Slayer Magic!" (Zeref)
"I understand! (Doctor)"
After speaking, the doctor sat cross-legged and began to calm his turbulent emotions. Meanwhile, Zeref took advantage of the moment to begin inscribing the Magic Array that would be used later on the ground.
"Call!"
After exhaling a deep breath, the doctor opened his eyes and stood up.
"Is there anything I can help you with, (doctor)?"
"No need! Just stay where you are and adjust your mindset, I'll be done in a minute!" (Zeref)
A moment later, Zeref finished drawing the last stroke of the Magic Array. At that moment, a dark purple light was released from the ground, and then the lines and symbols seemed to come alive, automatically moving along a certain trajectory.
"Doctor, quickly sit in the center of the Magic Array!"
"Um!"
The doctor nodded, then walked straight to the center of the Magic Array and sat down cross-legged. (Oops! My mistake! I forgot to have Zeref inscribe the Magic Array next to the doctor!) After the doctor was seated, Zeref closed his eyes and began to meditate, channeling his magical power in preparation for casting a spell. (Um... it could also be Curse, because I don't really know how to define what I'm about to cast, so I'll just call it magic for now.)
"Absorb!"
After the shout subsided, a dark purple vortex appeared in Zeref's right palm. As the vortex spun, grayish-white specks of light flew out from the Sacred Dragon's corpse.
As time passed, the grayish-white specks of light gathered more and more, eventually coalescing into a ball of light the size of an adult's head.
As the last point of light merged into the sphere of light, the Sacred Dragon's corpse transformed into countless sand-like particles, scattering across the ground. However, Zeref had no time to observe this, for he was now at the crucial moment of this magical experiment, and could not afford the slightest negligence.
"Move away!"
As Zeref's left hand moved up and down, the Magic Array on the ground released a suction force, pulling the gray-white orb of light upwards towards the top of the Magic Array.
"Buzz!"
Once the orb of light reached its designated position, a phantom dark purple hourglass enveloped both the orb and the doctor. The next second, specks of grayish-white light slid down from the bottom of the orb and entered the doctor's body.
"Uh-huh!"
Hearing the doctor's nasal tone, Zeref hurriedly advised, "Doctor, after these powers enter your body, they will subtly modify your body, so it will be somewhat painful. You must endure it, otherwise, all your efforts will be in vain!"
Concerned that speaking might interfere with the completion of the magic, the doctor nodded slightly to indicate that he understood.
As time ticked by, the grayish-white orb gradually shrank in size, while the doctor's originally frail body began to exude an increasingly powerful aura.
Five or six minutes later, the grayish-white orb disappeared completely. At this time, the doctor's skin, which was originally not smooth but very flat, developed dents, and from a distance it looked like it had grown a layer of scales.
"Roar!"
Just as the doctor was about to thank Zeref, a sound like a dragon's roar came from his mouth.
"Roar!"
"Aho!"
Looking at the bewildered doctor who was yelling at him, Zeref said, "You've just merged with Acnologia's power and are still adjusting, which is why you're acting like this. Once you've fully mastered this power, you'll be back to normal!"
The doctor nodded knowingly, then pointed upwards.
"I have some things to take care of, so I won't go up. Take care!"
The doctor bowed to Zeref and then walked straight upstairs.
Watching the doctor's departing figure, Zeref muttered to himself, "I hope you can buy me enough time to complete the improvement of the Dragon Slayer Magic, so that more people can join the battle and wipe out the Western Continent... no! All the Evil Dragon!"
After saying that, Zeref took out the parchment and quill pen that he had just salvaged from the ruins from his pocket and continued what he hadn't finished.
Philiers, Prime Minister's Residence, Study
"Uncle Reide, can't you be quiet for a moment? You're making my head spin!" (Tingmei)
"Quiet? With my master's fate uncertain and those restless fellows stirring again, I could be eliminated by a hidden arrow from who-knows-where at any moment. How can you expect me to be quiet? (Prime Minister)"
Hearing the Prime Minister's complaint, Tingmei shook her head and laughed, "Uncle Reide, are you out of your mind? If something happened to the master, would we still be standing here talking like this?"
"Hiss!"
The prime minister gasped for breath, then slapped his forehead hard.
"Yes, yes, yes! Since we are still safe and sound, then Master must be alright!"
Not long after he had just felt relieved, the Prime Minister's brows furrowed again, forming a Loess Plateau.
"Although we know that our master is alright, we don't know where he is. Without finding him, we still can't resolve the current crisis!"
Upon hearing the Prime Minister's words, Tingmei, who had been sprawled on the sofa, sat up and said, "Uncle Reide, do you think that the master has no way to recruit other subordinates besides us?"
"Tingmei, what do you mean by this?"
"Uncle Reide, you should know what the master has rewarded us with, right? Do you think... if the master finds out that we can't bring him the corresponding reward, will he take it back and find someone more suitable to receive it?"
Although the Prime Minister had just lost his ability to think due to excessive panic, after Tingmei's guidance, he instantly realized that this was indeed the case. However, at this moment, it was also a fact that he couldn't solve the problem on his own! When these two facts collided, it instantly caused the Prime Minister's integrated circuit board to short-circuit.
Seeing the Prime Minister sighing deeply, Tingmei laughed and said, "Hehe! Uncle Reide, are you worried about not having enough power to deal with those guys?"
The Prime Minister glanced at the smiling Tingmei, then nodded vigorously.
"Heh! Uncle Reide, you don't actually think that our master left us nothing but the contract, do you?"
