The Great Southern Battle (3)
Southern border of the Kingdom of Auriel, Erus Legion's garrison
After repelling Auriel's attack, the garrison of Silver Snow City and Ningguang City rallied together and pushed their defensive line forward a distance, moving the battlefield away from the Erus Kingdom.
"Report!"
"Your Majesties, our reconnaissance forces have discovered signs of a large-scale mobilization of the Auriel Legion stationed in the town ahead, which appears to be preparing to launch an attack on our forces."
After the messenger finished reporting, Wattster waved his hand, signaling him to leave.
As soon as the messenger left the tent, the talkative and impatient Gilkunis immediately shouted, "These idiots never learn! We just taught them a lesson, and now they're coming back for more!"
"Heh! Since they have this need, let's reluctantly help them solve it!" (Woodman)
"You two, you old lecher and blockhead, don't do anything reckless, or you'll fall into their trap. (Radel)"
Upon hearing Radel's warning, Woodman said with disdain, "Stone, you're such a coward! You're afraid of even these weaklings, how shameful!"
"A blockhead, that's not cowardice, it's caution." (Wattster)
"Wattster, what's wrong with you too... (Woodman)"
Before Woodman could finish speaking, Ice Block, who had been listening for a long time, interjected, "Blockhead, if we lose here, Auriel's army will advance unimpeded. Then that bad boy will have no choice but to abandon the Southern Campaign and divide his forces to fight the enemy on both the northern and southern fronts. Once the situation develops to that point, we will inevitably repeat the mistakes of four hundred years ago, so we must be careful!"
After being surrounded and attacked by the enemy, Woodman turned to look at the Allied forces behind him, hoping to get their support. However, he discovered that the Allied forces had been brainwashed by the enemy's spy (Yelibell, who had not appeared earlier), and so he met his tragic end.
"Blockhead and Ice Block are right. We have heavy responsibilities now, and we can't be as impulsive and willful as before. You really need to change this bad habit!" (Gilkunis)
"Big brother, weren't you the one who first suggested dealing with the Auriel Legion?"
Hearing Woodman's criticism, Gilkunis retorted confidently, "That's right, I was the first to propose this flawed idea, but I corrected it as soon as I realized my mistake. Unlike you, who is unrepentant and refuses to admit your error!"
(At this moment, the eight characters "unrepentant and unwilling to admit mistakes" became two road signs, stuck on Woodman ' shoulders.)
After being attacked by his allies, Woodman was petrified on the spot.
"Damn it! You blockhead, you're so shameless! You can't argue with us, so you resort to self-isolation! (Gilkunis)"
"Alright! You old pervert, stop arguing with this blockhead. Come over here and let's discuss what to do next. (Hadessta)"
"Alright! I'm coming!" (Gilkunis)
April 6, Saint Petrek Town, Erus's Army Camp
"Your Majesty, no new legions have appeared Kushen City since yesterday."
"Okay! Go now!"
"Yes!"
After bowing in agreement, the messenger withdrew from the Main army tent.
"Looks like the fish have all come out; it's time to haul in the nets!" (Kaldiz)
Upon hearing Kaldiz's remark, His Majesty the King did not immediately issue the order to attack. Instead, he asked the crowd, "Gentlemen, how have your preparations been going these past few days?"
After Old Suo finished speaking, everyone looked at each other and then smiled knowingly.
"Hehe! You naughty boy, we haven't been slacking off these past few days, launching attacks on the enemy 24/7. (Sage Dragon)"
"You haven't been discovered by the enemy, have you? (Old Suo)"
"Each time our Charge Horn sounds, shortly afterward, chaos erupts among the enemy ranks, and the pursuers we've encountered these past few times have all looked weary, so our plan shouldn't have been discovered. (Yesveta)"
Upon learning that the plan had worked, Old Suo nodded in satisfaction and said, "Although our plan has not been discovered, you should still be careful when you carry out your mission to avoid any unexpected incidents."
"Yes!"
After everyone responded in unison, Divine Constable Di, whose patience had long since worn off, said impatiently, "Brother, we'll be careful. Hurry up and give the battle orders!"
Looking at the crowd whose eyes were practically spitting fire, Sordil smiled and shook his head, then said, "Alright! Now that everyone is ready, I'll begin issuing the battle orders."
"Diphiya, Kaldiz, and Belserion, I hereby appoint the three of you as vanguards to lead your troops in a surprise attack on the enemy's camp outside the city this evening."
"Yes!"
"Murellia, Lindel, and Heradi, I hereby order the three of you to lead your troops to the enemy camp immediately and continue harassing them. After Diphiya and the other two launch their surprise attack, the three of you must immediately lead your men to encircle the enemy and ensure that no one can escape."
"Yes, sir!"
"Yesveta and Mevajena, I hereby order you two to lead your troops to provide support from the center."
"Understood!"
"The rest of the men will be under my command and will guard the main camp."
"Understood!"
"Alright, everyone go and get ready!" (Old Suo)
"Yes!"
Kushen City, the Southern Allied Army camp
"Beep beep beep"
"Knock knock"
"Charge!"
"Kill them!"
Hearing the bugle calls, war drums, and battle cries coming from outside the camp, Gerard, whose mental state was extremely poor, covered his ears and then wrapped himself in the cotton-padded fortress.
"That despicable King Erus, using such shameless tactics, has utterly disgraced the nobility!" (Old Suo: Hey! Exhausting the enemy is a normal tactic, isn't it? Don't believe me? Go ask Cao Cao and Zhuge Liang! Besides, I'm a king, not a nobleman, so how could I disgrace the nobility?)
Just as Gerard finished complaining about Old Suo's unfairness, a gasp pierced through the felt and quilt and reached Old Gerard's ears.
"Lord Gerard, a large number of enemy troops have appeared outside the camp and are constantly approaching our forces!"
"Ugh, so noisy! It's just enemy troops appearing, what's the big deal! Get down! Get down!"
Upon hearing Gerard's rebuke, the person outside the tent dared not say anything more and slowly retreated.
A quarter of an hour later, hearing the noise outside the tent getting louder and louder, Gerard said angrily, "What the hell is going on? Are these guys on stimulants today? Why are they still shouting like that?"
No sooner had he finished speaking than the same voice came from outside the tent again, only this time it was much sharper.
"Lord Gerard, something terrible has happened! The enemy..."
Before the person outside the tent could finish speaking, Gerard shouted rudely, "Didn't I just say? If the enemy wants to cause trouble, let them cause trouble. Don't pay any attention to them. Get out of here!"
"Lord Gerard, the enemy..."
"Roll!"
Faced with this simple and direct answer, the person outside the tent sighed, then turned and ran towards the back of the camp.
As time passed, the blanket's insulating effect seemed to decrease considerably, to the point that Gerard, inside the tent, was pierced by the sounds outside.
"Why are these guys so excited today? And the patrol captain, can't he just drive the enemy away?"
After venting his anger, Gerard struggled to his feet, preparing to add another blanket to enhance the barrier. Just then, a deafening roar came from outside the tent, followed by a powerful hurricane that swept into the tent, blasting everything inside, including Gerard, out of the tent.
"Bang!"
"Ouch! That hurts so much!"
Upon landing, Gerard felt as if his entire body was about to break apart. To alleviate the pain, he struggled to stand up, but was unable to do so.
"Guard!"
"Guard!"
After calling out twice but no one came, the special envoy roared angrily, "Bastards, do you want to die? Get over here right now!"
Not long after the cursing subsided, a series of hurried footsteps could be heard from not far away.
"Heh! You guys are such cheapskates, you only work after you've been scolded!"
After being pulled up from the ground, Gerard, who was about to continue his tirade, suddenly froze in place, because he finally saw the situation in the camp clearly.
The once flat ground was now riddled with holes of all sizes; the once densely packed white tents were now nothing but piles of black ash; and the once lively Allied troops were now either lying motionless in the blood and filth or strung together in long lines, obediently squatting on the ground.
"Gulp"
Although he already had a suspicion, Gerard still clung to a sliver of hope and glanced to both sides. The next second, two figures in black military uniforms burst into his view, shattering his entire composure.
"Splash!"
"Huh? Why is there a sound of running water?"
Upon hearing his teammate's question, another member of the Heavenly King Guard, who was supporting Gerard, pinched his nose and shouted, "Dude, it's not the sound of running water, it's the sound of peeing."
"What the hell! You bastard, what time is it and you're still in the mood to pee?"
"Dude, it wasn't me, it was this guy!"
Upon hearing his teammate's rebuttal, the older members of the Heavenly King Guard pulled up Gerard's robes, and then the truth came out.
"Damn! This guy is such a coward! We didn't hit him or torture him, why is he so scared he wets his pants?"
"Brother, what should we do with him now?"
"What else can we do but throw him into Prisoner of War Camp!"
"Brother, this guy was cursing and yelling at the guards to come and rescue him. He's probably a nobleman. Why don't we help him change into some clean clothes and then hand him over to His Majesty the Heavenly King?"
"Hmm! That makes sense!"
"Then let's get started!"
"Good!"
Just as the odorous envoy was being taken away to change clothes, the kings who had successfully devoured the Southern Alliance were gathered in the center of the Allied camp, observing a group of dark, humanoid figures.
