In the following time, Tang Di's bottom was whipped several times by his own father, and it was only in time that the Empress arrived and (temporarily) saved him from his father's clutches.

After Tang Di stood up shakily, Herder introduced him to Her Highness the Empress. Then, Her Highness the Empress, on behalf of His Majesty the Emperor, granted Herder a few days' leave to show Tang Di around Philiers. Thus, Tang Di officially joined the Erus Empire and became one of its loyal supporters.

Just as the domestic violence incident in Philiers was being resolved, Happy His Majesty the King, in high spirits, also managed to attend the Cherry Blossom Festival and win the grand prize in the bingo game.

As life returned to normal, time seemed to accelerate without our noticing, and before we knew it, it was January of X770.

Since returning from a trip with Laxus to relax, Lazy God has reverted to his reclusive lifestyle. Adding to this, several S-Class Mage left the guild for various reasons. As a result, all the important guild tasks piled up on Gildarts ' shoulders, leading him to live the kind of life he'd always experienced in his past anime – either on his way to a mission or on a mission.

Although Gildarts himself thoroughly enjoyed this lifestyle, the Guild Master couldn't stand it anymore. Therefore, he gave the Lazy God an ultimatum, ordering him to immediately stop his vacation and get back to work.

Faced with the chairman's orders and the need to handle certain matters, Lazy God packed his bags, took the Request Letter, and embarked on his work journey.

Oh, right! I forgot to mention something: in the past year or so, there has been new progress on the permanent quest issued by Lazy God.

Thanks to the efforts of all the guild's mages, Lazy God's Annihilation-type filing cabinet gained two new items Fire Demon Slayer and Earth God Slayer. Besides the reasons mentioned above, Lazy God's decision to set out this time also stemmed from a desire to test the results of his seclusion.

Alright, enough chit-chat, let's turn our attention to Lazy God and see what he's up to this time.

Migit Village, northeast of Fiore

Gazing at the calm surface of the lake before him, Sordil asked the old man beside him, "Village Chief, are you sure there are magical beasts dwelling in this lake?"

"That's right!"

"Okay! I understand. Leave this to me. You and everyone else should hurry back to the village!"

"Then I'll leave it to you, Master Mage!"

As he watched the Village Chief and the others leave, Old Suo's gaze lingered for a few seconds on a girl in red who was leading a small white dog.

"Wow! What incredible luck! (Old Suo's inner thoughts)"

After marveling at his good fortune for three seconds, Old Suo quickly composed himself and focused on completing his commission.

"Waiting like this isn't going to work; I have to take the initiative!"

After muttering to himself, Old Suo leaped into the lake. Just before he entered the water, pink smoke appeared, and then a creature resembling a goldfish with bulging eyes fell into the lake.

"Thump!"

After entering the water, Old Suo did not hesitate and swam straight towards the bottom of the lake.

As he descended, Old Suo gradually sensed something was wrong, because although the surrounding area was full of aquatic plants, there was not a single aquatic creature in sight.

"Holy crap! What on earth lives down there? How could it have hunted down all the aquatic creatures so thoroughly?"

After complaining about the unknown monster in the water, Old Suo focused his attention to the extreme, fearing that he might accidentally lose his life.

"Huh? Why is there nothing here? Could it be that the monster isn't home?"

Just as Old Suo was filled with doubt and uncertainty, the rocks at the bottom of the lake and the surrounding rock walls suddenly began to shake.

"Oh no! We've fallen for their trap!"

Realizing he had fallen into a trap, Old Suo didn't hesitate and turned to leap upwards. Unfortunately, he wasn't fast enough for his opponent, and thus, he couldn't escape the trap in time.

Just as the area was about to be completely closed off, Old Suo abandoned his disguise and launched a fierce attack.

"The Water Dragon's Roar"

"The Water Dragon's Surge"

"Water Dragon's Slash"

"Roar!"

Having withstood three Dragon Slayer Magic, the moving 'rock wall' violently shattered, turning the lake water yellowish-brown.

Taking advantage of the opponent's cries of pain, Old Suo immediately swam out through the breach.

"Holy crap! Could this thing be a giant octopus?"

Seemingly having heard Old Suo's mutterings, the octopus-like creature below stopped twitching and swung its tentacles at Old Suo.

"Whoosh"

After dodging the opponent's attack, Old Suo said to those below, "Although I'm not afraid of underwater combat, it's better to take you up here to fight in order to test your training results!"

"Quality Magic: Compression"

"Buzz!"

As soon as Old Suo finished speaking, the giant octopus that was baring its teeth and claws instantly turned into a tadpole and was sealed into a Crystal ball, which Old Suo then carried to the surface of the water.

"Thump!"

The sound of water breaking rang out, and then Old Suo appeared in the air.

"Phew! It's definitely better on land!"

After a moment of reflection, Old Suo held the transparent sphere up to his face. With the help of the bright light, he finally saw the octopus's true form, and then his unstoppable rampage began.

"Vomit!"

"Holy crap! What kind of creature is this? It's so bizarre and ugly!"

"Vomit!"

As he vomited, he remembered that he was still holding that thing, so Old Suo immediately stopped vomiting and forcefully threw the ball into the distant barren mountains.

"Pooh!"

After spitting out the liquid in his mouth, Old Suo began to regulate his breathing.

A short while later, Sordil, having recovered, flew towards the barren mountains with the determination to destroy it in the name of the moon. However, when he arrived at the spot where the sphere had crashed, he discovered that the disgusting octopus was gone.

"Holy crap! What's going on?"

No sooner had he finished speaking than the scene that had occurred at the bottom of the lake was repeated, except this time it was not the bottom of the lake that had moved, but the surrounding rocks and ground.

"Hmph! Never learns a lesson!"

After saying that coldly, Old Suo launched a new three-pronged attack.

"The Flame Demon's Roar"

"The Flame Demon's Heavy Fist"

"Flame Demon's Feather Cut"

"Boom!"

With air as a flammable medium and fire magic as a combustible substance, an explosion naturally occurred.

Although this ugly octopus possesses biomimetic capabilities, it is ultimately an aquatic creature, and fire is its natural enemy. Therefore, its roar this time was more intense, and its injuries were more severe than before.

Looking down at the ugly octopus writhing incessantly, and to prevent himself from being disgusted and vomiting again, Old Suo launched a series of attacks without any mercy.

"Earth's Pulse"

"The Flame Demon's Feather Needle"

"The Earth's Rock Iron Strike"

After being brutally beaten by Old Suo for fifteen minutes, the ugly octopus finally fell silent.

Just when Old Suo thought the guy was dead and he could call it a day, he suddenly heard a faint heartbeat and some emotional fluctuations below.

"Good lad, he can even play dead!"

Realizing its disguise had been exposed, the ugly octopus immediately detonated its upper body. The next second, blue-purple blood splattered everywhere, obscuring Old Suo's vision.

When the valley returned to calm, only a large pit remained below, and the ugly octopus had vanished without a trace.

"Hmph! If it were anyone else, you might have actually managed to escape, but unfortunately for you, you've run into me!"

After saying this, Sordil launched an attack on the rocks on the left side of the pit.

"Nether Lightning Dragon's Sting"

"Whoosh whoosh"

One after another, long black needles flashing with yellow electricity pierced into the rock, which then writhed twice and turned into a pool of purplish-black human-faced monster.

"Phew! Finally got rid of this guy!"

After dealing with the ugly octopus, Old Suo, out of caution, returned to the lake. Only after confirming there were no other threats did he return to Migit Village and inform the Village Chief.

"Village Chief, I've dealt with the monster in the lake, and I've also blocked the waterway leading to its lair. Monsters won't appear in the lake anymore, so everyone can raise fish with peace of mind."

Upon hearing Sordil's words, the Village Chief grasped Old Suo's hand and said excitedly, "Thank you so much, Master Mage!"

Just as Old Suo was about to say "You're welcome," his stomach began to protest.

"Coo coo"

Seeing everyone staring at him, Old Suo scratched his head awkwardly.

"Hehe! Sorry, we just had a big battle, so..." (Ugly Octopus: What the heck! You were the one who beat me up, how did it become a big battle? Don't you feel any remorse saying that?)

Upon hearing Old Suo's words, everyone present burst into laughter.

"Ha ha"

"Ha ha"

"Bora, Tagil, quickly inform everyone to prepare a feast to entertain the Mage!" (Village Chief)

"Yes!"

After the two villagers left, the Village Chief and Old Suo both chose to chat.

"My lord mage, why is it you who came to slay the monsters this time, instead of Lord Gildarts from before?"

"Heh! Even more impatient than me! (Old Suo's inner thoughts)"

After calming his inner turmoil, Old Suo replied with a composed expression, "Gildarts is on another mission and can't get away, so the guild master sent me here."

"Oh! I see!"

"By the way, Village Chief, I saw a little girl in a red dress at your house before. Is she your granddaughter?"

"Hehe! Just what I wished for has come true. Now I don't have to worry about how to send the girl to Fairy Tail. (The Village Chief's inner thoughts)"

"Oh! You mean that girl? She's from our village, not my granddaughter." (Village Chief)

"What's wrong? Is there something amiss with that girl?" (Village Chief)

"It's nothing. I just thought that girl was very smart and had the potential to become a mage, so I asked her casually."

"I see!"

Just as their awkward conversation reached a stalemate, one of the two villagers who had left earlier returned to the Village Chief's house and informed the two to attend a banquet. So, they ended their chat and followed him towards the banquet venue.
