Ch. 429Mysterious Gift Package

Old Suo, Sonia, and Ulu fought through a swarm of Ice Field Cave Spiders and chose to explore the Eskimo Civilization ruins rather than leave. After finding a statue with living eyes, Old Suo activated it and discovered three glowing spheres inside its mouth, leaving their contents unknown.

  • Old Suo stored the Snow Domain Blue Crystal and battled the Ice Field Cave Spiders while Sonia and Ulu defended their position.
  • At the Love&Lucky Guild, Lily told Jude that a silver-haired youth had come looking for him and Leila.
  • Old Suo and Ulu argued over whether to leave or explore, and Ulu lost their rock-paper-scissors match, so the three entered the Ice Crystal Maze.
  • After navigating traps without finding anything valuable, the group noticed a statue whose eyes moved, and Old Suo sent Sonia and Ulu to wait while he investigated.
  • Old Suo poured ice magic into the statue's eyes, opening its mouth to reveal three bright-blue spheres, and froze when he saw what they contained.

Ch. 430Preparations Before Going into Seclusion

Sordil and Sonia escaped the collapsing ice cave with three secret tomes, then worked to save enough money for another trip to Agarifa. They reached the Love & Lucky Guild and told Jude they wanted to discuss a business deal.

  • Ulu translated the three tomes as “Absolute Freeze,” “Ice Make,” and “Ice God Slayer,” before the ice cave began collapsing and Sordil led the escape.
  • After they emerged safely, Sordil gave Ulu two tomes as an apology and compensation, and they exchanged contact information before parting.
  • Sordil and Sonia completed requests while the Fairy Tail members cleared the guild’s notice board to avoid losing their jobs.
  • After earning around forty million J, Sordil told Sonia they would leave for Agarifa the next morning.
  • At the Love & Lucky Guild, Sordil met Jude and said he had come to discuss a business deal.

Ch. 431Sordil Escapes Disaster

Sordil and Sonia secretly met Leila, revealing Sordil’s identity and warning her that activating Eclipse without telling him would endanger her life. Afterward, Sordil returned to the Magic Library while Sonia reported to the Queen, who ordered her to keep watch over him.

  • Jude refused Sordil’s request to meet Leila, so Sordil and Sonia teleported into her room and sealed it with a Space Barrier.
  • Sordil told Leila that he and Sonia had lived for four hundred years, then revealed he was the dragon Sordil Orn, Anna’s former teacher and the emperor of the Erus Empire.
  • Sordil warned Leila that she must inform him before activating Eclipse because her life would otherwise be in danger, then teleported away with Sonia as Jude and others burst into the room.
  • After returning from Agarifa, Sordil greeted Makarov and secluded himself in the Magic Library with the Ice God Slayer book, while Sonia returned to Philiers to report to the Queen.
  • The Queen scolded Sordil for supposedly flirting with Leila and told Sonia to keep watch over him before summoning the Chancellor.

Ch. 432An Agreement with the Guild Master

After four months in seclusion, Sordil emerged and learned that the Tower of Paradise cultists had disrupted Fairy Tail’s work. He agreed to help Makarov hunt them in exchange for learning magic, then warned August and Tingmei to watch for danger as he prepared to pursue the cultists.

  • Sordil broke through the Magic Library wall while mastering magic, then used Time Arc: Reversal to repair it before returning to Magnolia.
  • Sordil found Makarov alone and drunk in the guild hall, learned that the guild members were searching for Tower of Paradise cultists, and asked for their intelligence.
  • Sordil agreed to help Makarov deal with the cultists in exchange for learning every magic except Fairy Law.
  • Sordil contacted August and told him to guard Erza in Rosemary Village because the cultists had appeared.
  • Sordil asked Tingmei to investigate the distant seas around Kaelum and warned her not to act without notifying him.
  • Sordil declared that he was ready to end the hunt for the cultists and vanished in a flash of Silver-White Light.

Ch. 433A Fish That Slipped Through the Net

Sordil investigated the ruins of the first Tower of Paradise, then followed a group of masked men to their hidden tower and infiltrated their gathering as a Rainbow Flying Fish. He helped Mask E wipe out the group, but the fat and skinny men Sordil expected never appeared until after he left.

  • Sordil reconstructed the ruins’ past with blue-violet particles and confirmed the site had once held the first Tower of Paradise.
  • Sordil disguised himself as a Rainbow Flying Fish and followed the masked men into their concealed tower after luring Mask E outside.
  • The masked men discussed capturing laborers for their planned paradise, and Mask E poisoned them and began killing them.
  • Sordil secretly assisted Mask E, then collected the apparent corpses and left through a Teleportation Array when the fat and skinny men failed to appear.
  • The fat and skinny masked men entered the tower, found bloodstains, and fled, fearing the hideout had been exposed.

Ch. 434Chaotic Family Trial

Sordil captured the seven leaders of the cult linked to the Tower of Paradise incident, earning praise and a place at the guild masters’ meeting. After enduring Irene’s jealous interrogation and punishment, he returned to Fairy Tail with Sonia and set off with Makarov for the meeting, stopping to give Leila a Communication Magic Crystal.

  • Sordil brought seven cult leaders and their roster to Makarov, who reported them to the Magic Council.
  • The Restraining Force took the prisoners, and Sordil received public commendation and permission to accompany Makarov to the guild masters’ meeting.
  • Irene confronted Sordil about Ulu, while Diphiya and Wattster’s attempts to help only worsened his predicament.
  • Sordil begged Irene for forgiveness, and she punished him by banning him from her bedchamber and requiring daily reports of his whereabouts.
  • After two days in Philiers, Sordil detoured to give Leila a Communication Magic Crystal, then returned to Fairy Tail with Sonia.
  • Sordil and Makarov departed for the guild masters’ meeting in Clowbar City.

Ch. 435The Big Gamble Begins

Makarov and Sordil arrived late to the guild masters’ meeting, where Sordil provoked Jose into a duel and wagered that the masters would teach him powerful spells if he won. Their battle escalated into a clash of light and dark magic, ending in an explosion that left the spectators unable to see its result.

  • Makarov overslept, and Sordil rushed him to the meeting just before they were marked absent.
  • Makarov introduced Sordil as the one who had resolved the Tower of Paradise incident, and Sordil taunted Jose into accepting a duel for his title and Grimoire Heart’s Jupiter.
  • Sordil bet the guild masters that he would win Jose, wagering Dragon-Slaying Magic Crystals against their powerful spells, and they accepted.
  • Sordil countered Jose’s dark magic with light magic as the guild masters watched and debated who would win.
  • Jose unleashed Death Storm, and Sordil blocked it with Holy Light Shine before their attacks collided in an explosion that filled the stands with haze.

Ch. 437Upgrade Examination (I)

Sordil defeated Jose, collected Grimoire Heart’s Jupiter as his wager, and later returned to Fairy Tail after gathering Snow Domain Blue Crystals and pursuing other work. At year’s end, Makarov announced the six mages selected for Fairy Tail’s S-Class promotion examination, which would take place at Croba Grand Canyon the following week.

  • Sordil defeated Jose, who resigned from the Ten Wizard Saints and agreed to dismantle Jupiter and send it to Fairy Tail; the other guild masters also accepted their wager losses.
  • Sordil accompanied Jose to Grimoire Heart’s branch in Ogu Town and used Quality Magic to shrink Jupiter for transport.
  • Sordil traveled to the northern continent, gathered Snow Domain Blue Crystals with Ulu’s guidance, and returned to Fairy Tail after fulfilling their agreement.
  • In the following days, Sordil studied magic, took jobs with Sonia, collected on his wagers, and made several unsuccessful trips to Philiers to pursue Slayer-type magic.
  • Makarov announced that Sordil, Sonia, Gildarts Clive, Ivan Adley, Bohr Zotim, and Rexa Heli would take part in the S-Class promotion examination at Croba Grand Canyon.
  • Makarov told the six participants to find guild-member companions who were not active S-Class Mages and to gather at the town entrance in one week.

Ch. 438Upgrade Examination (2)

Sordil recruited Macao as his partner for the upgrade examination and joined the other participants on the journey to Croba Grand Canyon. After Makarov announced the first test, Sordil and Macao raced ahead but encountered a spell formation, then chose a route whose S-Class guards remained unknown.

  • Sonia asked Sordil to partner with her, but he explained that the examinees could not team up; Makarov confirmed the rule.
  • Sordil asked Macao to be his partner, and Macao accepted; they began special training together.
  • A week later, Sordil secretly used Troia to conceal his motion sickness as the six participants traveled by carriage toward Croba Grand Canyon.
  • Makarov stopped the carriages and announced that the participants had to walk one of six routes, some of which were guarded by S-Class Mages.
  • Sordil and Macao rushed ahead, but the others collided with a transparent spell formation that had also trapped Makarov.
  • At a fork in the road, Sordil asked Macao to choose a route, and Macao pointed one out before Sordil sped down it in his wind boat.

Ch. 439Upgrade Assessment (3)

The first assessment ended with Sordil’s group reaching the gathering point first, followed by the safe-route groups and then Gildarts and Wakaba. Makarov announced the second assessment at Croba Grand Canyon: the candidates had three days to reach Clowbar City on foot and catch ten Rainbow Flying Fish.

  • The barrier fell, and the candidates rushed into the routes; Gildarts and Wakaba escaped Holi’s attacks with a smoke screen while Rexar’s group was eliminated after encountering two S-Class Mages.
  • Sordil’s group reached the gathering point first, where Lyra fled from Old Suo and later gave him her name before Sonia confronted him about his behavior.
  • Gildarts and Wakaba arrived two days later, and Holi confirmed that they had completed the first assessment’s task.
  • The next morning, Makarov announced that candidates had to cross Croba Grand Canyon without using the railway tracks, reach Clowbar City within three days, and catch ten Rainbow Flying Fish.
  • Makarov explained that using a signal flare for help would forfeit the assessment, then declared the second assessment underway.

Ch. 440Upgrade Examination (4)

Sordil and Macao completed their capture mission, then Sordil’s group won its first match in the final examination by immobilizing Ivan and Versailles. The other match between Gildarts and Sonia continued as Gildarts faced attacks from multiple directions.

  • Old Suo and Macao escaped the other examinees through an underground passage, then watched the groups searching the canyon from their wind boat.
  • Old Suo and Macao spotted Lyra and Holi evacuating two people aboard Blue Pegasus’s Christina after a distress signal, and Old Suo promised Macao a ride on the ship.
  • Three days later, Makarov announced that the final examination would pair teams according to arrival order, with only the two winners advancing to S-Class.
  • Old Suo enhanced Macao with support magic while he distracted Ivan and Versailles, then trapped both opponents in a Magic Array and teleported behind Macao to stop an incoming attack.
  • Sordil and Macao beat Ivan and Versailles until they admitted defeat, while Gildarts continued fighting Sonia as Leena battled Wakaba.

Ch. 441Exiling Ivan (1)

Gildarts and Sordil won the S-Class assessment, and Sordil was promoted alongside Gildarts. Months later, Laxus fell gravely ill, and Makarov asked Emperor Sordil to arrange a consultation with healers at the Erus Empire’s border.

  • Gildarts defeated Leena after Ivan and his partner surrendered to Sordil and his partner, giving Sordil two consecutive wins.
  • Gildarts surrendered at the start of the second round, securing the championship for Sordil, and Makarov announced that Sordil and Gildarts had passed the S-Class assessment.
  • Back in Magnolia, Makarov discovered that Sordil had always been a problem child, and several peaceful months passed.
  • Sordil told Makarov and Ivan that Laxus was out of danger, but warned that his healing had not addressed the underlying cause.
  • Ivan went to invite Grandma Polusika, while Sordil agreed, as Emperor of the Erus Empire, to gather its finest healers for a consultation at the border.

Ch. 442Banishing Ivan (2)

Sordil revealed that a Dragon-Slaying Magic Crystal could strengthen Laxus, then Makarov learned Sordil knew about Lumen Starlight and began preparing to pass on the guild’s secrets. After Ivan overheard their conversation and fled, Sordil realized a missing request might be connected to the Lightning Dragon-Slaying Magic Crystal and tried to locate Ivan.

  • Porlyusica said Laxus was out of danger and advised improving his constitution, then left when Ivan pressed her for a cure.
  • Makarov took Sordil to the guild’s secret basement and told him he planned to make him guild master before leaving to seek a cure for Laxus.
  • Sordil stopped Makarov from opening the basement door, revealed his true form, and explained that a Dragon-Slaying Magic Crystal could strengthen Laxus.
  • Sordil and Makarov discovered Ivan had overheard them and fled the guild, so Makarov sent the members to search for him.
  • Sordil noticed that a request letter was missing and suspected Ivan had gone after an item related to Dragon-Slaying Magic, then tried to extend his radio signal across the city.

Ch. 443Exiling Ivan (3)

Sordil and Makarov used the Fairy Tail chat group to trace Ivan after he left the guild, while Sordil went to find Kuli. Ivan intercepted Kuli’s train and stole the Dragon-Slaying Magic Crystal, but Sordil arrived in time to stop him and take them both back to the guild.

  • Sordil and Makarov questioned the guild members in the chat group and learned Ivan had headed east in Versailles’s Magic Four-Wheeled Vehicle while Kuli had taken a train to Philiers.
  • Makarov stayed to lead the search, and Sordil flew east to find Kuli and confirm what had happened.
  • Ivan overtook Kuli’s train, caused a rockslide to stop it, and found Kuli in the fourth carriage.
  • Ivan offered to buy Kuli’s Dragon-Slaying Magic Crystal, then attacked him and took the crystal when Kuli refused.
  • Sordil stopped Ivan before he could strike Kuli again, healed Kuli, and took both men back to the guild for Makarov to decide Ivan’s punishment.

Ch. 444Banishment of Ivan (4)

Makarov expelled Ivan from Fairy Tail for harming a companion, leaving Laxus struggling to accept his father's banishment. Old Suo took Laxus on a job and a trip to check his health, then returned with him and Gildarts in time for the Cherry Blossom Festival.

  • Makarov heard how Ivan had harmed Laxus, reminded him of Fairy Tail's rules, and expelled him from the guild.
  • Nearly half a month later, Laxus questioned Makarov about banishing Ivan, and Old Suo received permission to take him away on a job and have doctors check his health.
  • Old Suo took Laxus on a Request Letter, and their flashy departure sparked a brawl among Fairy Tail members who argued over Sordil's nickname.
  • Old Suo brought Laxus to West City for medical examinations, then walked back toward Magnolia with him and met the directionless Gildarts.
  • After the three got lost and asked for directions, Old Suo used a Teleportation Array to return with Laxus and Gildarts, and they went home to rest before the Cherry Blossom Festival.

Ch. 445The Mix-Up

Sordil realized he had arrived a day early for the cherry blossom festival preparations and helped Makarov quell the guild’s chaos. The chapter then revealed how Tandy Cross reunited with his family in Philiers and ended up being beaten by his father, Solva, with Herder recruited to hold him down.

  • Sordil learned from Sonia that the festival was the next day and celebrated that he had returned a day early.
  • Sordil entered the guild, was knocked down by a flying wine glass, and used Ouba’s move to make the guild members spin at Makarov’s command.
  • Makarov took Sordil upstairs to discuss something while the guild members spun below.
  • Tandy Cross arrived in Philiers and followed Herder’s directions to their residence in the imperial palace.
  • Tandy mistook Solva for an attendant, argued with him, and was pinned down and beaten.
  • Herder tried to leave, but Solva ordered him to help hold Tandy down so he could keep beating him.

Ch. 446Lazy God Emerges from Seclusion

In January X770, Sordil took a mission to defeat a magical beast in Migit Village’s lake and used his newly acquired Slayer magic to overcome the creature. After reporting the lake safe and earning the villagers’ gratitude, he asked the Village Chief about a clever girl in red.

  • The Guild Master ordered Lazy God to end his seclusion and take a mission, and he set out to test his training.
  • Sordil entered the lake, where a giant octopus-like beast trapped him, but he broke free with Water Dragon Slayer attacks and sealed it in a Crystal ball.
  • The creature escaped after Sordil hurled the sphere, so he fought it on land with Flame Demon and Earth magic, then exposed its disguise and defeated it with Nether Lightning Dragon magic.
  • Sordil returned to Migit Village and told the Village Chief that he had defeated the beast and blocked the waterway to its nest.
  • Sordil asked whether the girl in red was the Village Chief’s granddaughter and said she seemed clever enough to become a Mage before joining the villagers’ feast.

Ch. 447The First Switch

Old Suo secretly rescued Cornelia after she appeared to die, taking her to the Erus Empire and restoring her health. Cornelia awoke in the imperial palace, where Irene and a young girl burst in and confronted the Emperor.

  • At the village banquet, Old Suo used his Poison Dragon hearing to locate Cornelia and later flew to her home as a black sparrow.
  • Old Suo secretly cast healing magic on Cornelia as she died, then left while Kana mourned her.
  • Kana went to the Village Chief for her mother's letter and help with the funeral, while Old Suo replaced Cornelia's body with a fake and teleported the real Cornelia to Philiers.
  • Old Suo used the Time Capsule and the Source of Beginninglessness to revive and heal Cornelia, exhausting himself in the process.
  • Cornelia asked where she was and why she was alive, but Irene and a young girl burst into the imperial bedchamber, and the Emperor fainted in fright.

Ch. 448Emperor? Best Actor?!

Old Suo cleared up the misunderstanding with Irene and Diphiya, then recruited Cornelia as his subordinate and renamed her Athena Eld. Back in Migit Village, he reunited with Kana as the Village Chief returned a letter from her mother, whose contents also concerned him.

  • Old Suo explained that he had rescued Cornelia rather than been caught in a compromising situation, convincing Irene and Diphiya of his innocence.
  • Cornelia pledged her loyalty to Old Suo, who renamed her Athena Eld and sent her with the Empress to learn about Philiers.
  • Old Suo returned to Migit Village, merged with his Thought Body, and met Kana in the Village Chief's home.
  • The Village Chief returned a letter from Kana's mother, and Kana asked him to read it aloud.
  • The Village Chief said the letter concerned Old Suo as well, and began reading it.

Ch. 449Saving a Wayward Girl (Part 1)

After bringing Kana to Fairy Tail, Sordil concealed her identity from Gildarts and left her in the guild’s care before infiltrating the Magic Development Bureau. He recorded Brian deceiving Ulu about Ultear’s death, then continued his investigation as Ulu left the facility in grief.

  • The Village Chief asked Sordil to protect Kana on her journey to Fairy Tail, and Sordil agreed.
  • Sordil walked Kana from Migit Village to Fairy Tail, where they encountered Gildarts, Macao, and Wakaba; Kana concealed from Gildarts that he was her father.
  • Sordil left Kana with the guild members, reported to Makarov, and received another job before secretly teleporting away.
  • Sordil disguised himself and infiltrated the Magic Development Bureau, where he recorded Brian telling Ulu that Ultear had died.
  • Sordil searched the Bureau while Ulu rejected the staff’s offer of help and staggered toward the exit.
