Background / History
Tang San arrives at Nuoding Academy with Old Jack and is initially mocked by the gatekeeper for possessing Blue Silver Grass. Feng Hao intervenes, brings him into the academy, and pressures him into revealing his Clear Sky Hammer. Feng Hao then becomes his first teacher by promising information about Tang San's parents and clan. 7 8
Yu Xiaogang soon persuades Tang San that Feng Hao is connected to Martial Soul Hall and may be seeking Tang Hao. Acting on Yu Xiaogang's advice, Tang San maintains a respectful façade toward Feng Hao while attempting to obtain information from him. 10 11 He acquires his first spirit ring during a trip with Yu Xiaogang, but Feng Hao's claim that he should have been capable of absorbing a thousand-year ring leaves him deeply shaken. 15 16
At Nuoding Academy's graduation ceremony, Tang San and Yu Xiaogang attempt to accuse Feng Hao of poisoning the academy well. Their scheme fails when Feng Hao exposes Tang San as the one who planted the poison. Tang San confesses, citing his belief that Feng Hao served Martial Soul Hall and threatened Tang Hao; Feng Hao expels him as a disciple, and Tang San is expelled from the academy. 29 30 31
After joining Shrek Academy, Tang San continues cultivating under Yu Xiaogang while harboring resentment toward Feng Hao. Feng Hao's zither music stimulates a dark power in Tang San's dantian—the Heart Demon Seed—which feeds on his negative emotions and accelerates his cultivation at the expense of his lifespan. 59 88
Seeking a way to surpass Feng Hao, Tang San approaches the disguised Sword Saint Wuming, unaware that Wuming is Feng Hao. Believing Wuming will help him kill Feng Hao and gain access to a place for Twin Martial Soul users, Tang San poisons Yu Xiaogang and cuts off two of his fingers. Wuming reveals the deception afterward, leaving Tang San burdened by guilt and anger. 100 101 102
The matured Heart Demon Seed eventually drives Tang San to kill Xue Beng during a sparring match. Yu Xiaogang immediately disowns him, but Tang Hao intervenes before Heaven Dou Royal Academy can capture him and takes him away. 227 228
After Feng Hao takes Ah Yin away, Tang San accepts the Rakshasa God's offer to become her successor, intending to gain enough strength to defeat Feng Hao and save his mother. 275 Feng Hao subsequently uses Reverse Yin Yang on him, causing Tang San to awaken as a woman. He adopts the identity Tang Yin and enrolls at Godwind Academy to conceal himself. 274 276 286 Although he later returns to his male form, Tang Hao insists that he remain Tang Yin for safety. 296

Feng Hao's superior spirit rings, combat techniques, and hidden-weapon knowledge repeatedly undermine Tang San's confidence because they challenge his belief that he is uniquely destined for greatness. 15 43 87
Over time, resentment toward Feng Hao, jealousy of Feng Hao's students, and the Heart Demon Seed make Tang San increasingly ruthless. He becomes willing to poison Yu Xiaogang, sever his fingers, and eventually kill Xue Beng in a loss of control. 102 186 227
