Background / History
Human Life and Sacrifice
Ah Yin left the Star Dou Great Forest after choosing Humanoid Transformation. She wanted both freedom from a monotonous forest life and a chance to pursue godhood, which she understood to be inaccessible to soul beasts without first becoming human 22 116.
In human society, she met Tang Hao and Tang Xiao. The three became sworn siblings and traveled together; Ah Yin eventually fell in love with Tang Hao and became pregnant 114.
During their flight from Spirit Hall, she questioned why Tang Hao repeatedly led her through human settlements rather than toward the Star Dou Great Forest. Cornered with her newborn child and Tang Hao's ninth Spirit Ring still unattached, she sacrificed herself to protect the child. Her suspicions about Tang Hao remained unresolved when she became a seed and fell into slumber 114.
Removal from the Waterfall Cave
Tang Hao planted her beneath a waterfall near Holy Spirit Village but did not visit her for six years. Mu Zhe found her weak and neglected, alongside her soul bone in a concealed lead box 7 20.
Contact with the soul bone restored some of her vitality and allowed her to suppress its conspicuous aura. Mu Zhe took both the plant and bone, partly to prevent her from later identifying him and seeking revenge through Tang Hao and Tang San. She affectionately wrapped herself around his arm after he returned the bone to her 7 98.
To avoid Tang Hao's detection, Mu Zhe later kept her in another city nearly one hundred li from Nuoding City. She remained there for two years, although his prolonged absences left her unhappy 14.
Memories, Betrayal, and Recovery
Mu Zhe's experiment with memory plundering severely damaged Ah Yin, leaving her listless. He refined her right leg soul bone in an attempt to heal her and encountered a surviving trace of her spiritual essence within it 114.
Mu Zhe told her that Tang Hao had engineered her sacrifice for power and the Clear Sky Sect's revival. This explanation combined his existing knowledge with deductions from her memories; Ah Yin had not personally witnessed the alleged planning within the sect 38 114.
He also told her that Tang San was an adult soul occupying her newborn's body. Ah Yin asked to verify this herself. After examining memories taken from Tang San, she accepted the possession claim and became convinced that Mu Zhe had also told the truth about Tang Hao 38 43 44.
Initially exhausted by traveling, she asked to take root in Wanghun Village. Mu Zhe persuaded her instead to recover at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. There, her cultivation rapidly returned, and Divine Power from the dragon kings eventually enabled her to regain human form 22 61 66 116.
Appearance
- Plant form: Blue Silver Grass with distinctive blue-gold patterns, soft branches, and vines. Her golden markings brighten and her leaves become fuller when nourished by her soul bone 7 29.
- Human-shaped spiritual essence: Blue hair adorned with a Blue Silver Emperor hair ornament, a gauzy dress bearing Blue Silver Grass features, and a gentle, graceful bearing 114.
- Weakened state: Drooping leaves and limp branches; memory plundering causes pronounced withering and loss of vitality 98 114.
Personality
Ah Yin is gentle and protective, but not passive. She protests Mu Zhe's insistence that she is his “pet,” demands that he stop touching her casually, and attempts to stab his wrist with a vine when he introduces her that way to Ye Lingling 26 28.
Her concern for Mu Zhe repeatedly overrides her own wishes. She offers to abandon the visit to Tang San rather than risk a confrontation with Tang Hao, and intervenes when Mu Zhe's uncontrolled devouring turns into a killing spree 45 106.
She also has a playful, competitive side. Her spiritual essence teasingly calls Mu Zhe a “little thief,” and she remembers enthusiastically challenging soul beasts after first learning the Blue Silver Overlord Spear. Her former trust in Tang Hao later becomes open resentment; she welcomes the prospect of his death 32 44 114.
