Background / History
Mu Zhe was originally a 26-year-old Earth man who worked while writing web novels. After finishing a manuscript late at night, he was transported into the body of a six-year-old orphan in Wanghun Village, Fasno Province, within the Heaven Dou Empire. He was raised by Village Chief Tom and concealed the maturity of his past-life memories to avoid appearing abnormal. 1
At his Martial Soul awakening, Mu Zhe gained the Heart of Void. Its Void State allowed him to become unseen and intangible, pass through solid matter, and evade ordinary detection. Recognizing the ability’s value for theft, infiltration, and ambushes, he immediately began planning around treasures and threats from his knowledge of the continent’s future. 3
He infiltrated the waterfall cave near Holy Spirit Village and took the Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone. Rather than leaving the weakened Blue Silver Emperor behind, he later relocated it to his own courtyard, both to prevent its recovery and to keep it away from Tang Hao and Tang San. 7 98
After arriving in Nuoding City, Mu Zhe forged a new Spirit Hall certificate by erasing his records, enrolled at Nuoding Academy, and secretly studied meditation and soul-beast knowledge in Spirit Hall’s library. He also robbed the City Lord’s Mansion, using Void State and overwhelming physical strength to steal Gold Soul Coins from its accounts room. 8 23 97
Mu Zhe’s search for stronger spirit rings led him to the Soul Devouring Demonic Spider. After killing it and escaping its Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Devouring Spider Empress parent, he absorbed its ring, developed the Soul Devouring Spider Lance, and began exploiting devouring abilities to increase his Soul Power, Spiritual Power, and ring ages. 27 29 60
His acquisition of Barren Land gave him an inner space that gradually developed into an inner world. By absorbing the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings’ remains, and their origins, he transformed it from barren ground into a place containing ice, fire, soul power, vegetation, and soul beasts. 8 56
Appearance
Mu Zhe initially appears as a fair, rosy-faced six-year-old boy. Following years of cultivation within the Fire Dragon King’s remains, he grows into a sharply featured young man with chest-length hair and no remaining trace of childhood immaturity. 1 56
- Possesses a notably youthful appearance even when his combat strength greatly exceeds expectations. 95
- His appearance and bearing are repeatedly described as handsome, confident, and noble. 45
- His body is exceptionally robust for a Soul Master due to the Heart of Void being a body-type Martial Soul. 23
Personality
Mu Zhe is calculating, ambitious, and highly opportunistic. He treats knowledge of the continent’s future as an advantage to exploit, targets valuable resources before others can claim them, and readily uses infiltration, theft, fabricated identities, and manipulation to secure power. His schemes against Tang San, Yu Xiaogang, the City Lord’s Mansion, and the Blue Silver Emperor all stem from this practical, self-serving mindset. 3 8 23 36
He is also cautious when confronting opponents beyond his current ability. He avoids altering Tang San’s official records because it could create unpredictable consequences, studies soul beasts before hunting them, and recognizes that Void State cannot be sustained indefinitely. 8 97 108
Despite his ruthlessness, Mu Zhe shows genuine attachment to Village Chief Tom and Ah Yin. He promises to support Tom after becoming a Soul Master, repeatedly tends to Ah Yin, and later apologizes after his devouring instincts nearly cause him to lose control. 1 45 98
His Martial Soul and devouring abilities can push him into an abnormally arrogant, bloodthirsty state. After massacring soul beasts in the Star Dou Great Forest, he recognizes the danger and resolves to be more careful with devouring power. 45
Abilities & Skills
Heart of Void
Mu Zhe’s body-type Martial Soul grants powers centered on void traversal, shadow manipulation, Spiritual Power, and extradimensional space. 3 55
- Enhances his vitality and physical strength beyond that of an ordinary Soul Master. 23
- Its refining effect assists him in absorbing Spirit Rings and unusually large quantities of energy. 10 29
- Its independent behavior can interfere with deliberate cultivation, such as converting body-tempering herb energy into Soul Power. 66
Void State
Mu Zhe becomes ethereal, invisible, intangible, and detached from ordinary physical interaction. 3
- Passes through walls, waterfalls, solid ice, and other physical obstacles. 7 53
- Cannot be detected by ordinary sight or sound; even Village Chief Tom does not notice him standing nearby. 3
- Enables stealth, escape, infiltration, and surprise attacks. 3 99
- He can walk on walls and use Flight while in the Void. 3 33
- At level ten, he can sustain it for nearly half an hour; later, he estimates roughly two hours of use, but cannot recover Soul Power while within it. 3 108
- Attacking forces him out of the Void State. 23
Shadow Manipulation
Mu Zhe’s first Soul Skill manifests controllable shadows with his own physical strength. 11
- Shadow strength, speed, number, and attack power rise with his Soul Power and mental strength. 11
- At level 20, he can create and simultaneously control six shadows. 27
- Shadows can enter the Void to evade attacks and strike from unexpected positions. 37
- He develops enough mastery to use shadow-based Soul Skills without visibly revealing Spirit Rings. 37 43
- His evolved first skill can create a shadow substitute and cooperate with Greedy Devour to steal memories. 80
Greedy Devour
Mu Zhe’s second Soul Skill devours energy through shadows and converts captured Spirit Rings into stored light spheres containing power and memories. 60
- Can consume Soul Power, souls, Spirit Rings, memories, and other energies. 60 54
- Devoured energy can raise the age of his Spirit Rings. 60
- The purer the energy, the more effective the devouring process; the skill is stated to have no side effects from energy quality itself. 54
- Devouring continuously can exhaust him and feed an obsession with power. 45 60
- His low Soul Power and initially low second-ring age greatly slow the refinement of God-tier energy. 54
Barren Land / Inner World
Mu Zhe’s third Soul Skill creates an extradimensional space within his Martial Soul. 44
- Initially manifests as barren land capable of storing objects other than Mu Zhe himself. 44
- Can absorb the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, dragon remains, soul beasts, and other large-scale contents into the space. 8 56
- Allows him to bring other people inside through Spiritual Power and spatial control. 12 102
- Within the inner world, he can suppress enemies with overwhelming environmental pressure, shadow vortices, giant hands, and falling meteors. 12
- Assimilation of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well grants him immense ice-and-fire power and a deep connection to the space. 8
- The world expands as his strength rises; its outer edges remain obscured by dense shadow. 103
Ice and Fire Control
After condensing rings from the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings’ origins, Mu Zhe gains absolute control over their respective elements. 56
- The Ice Dragon King ring allows him to use ice-element Soul Skills freely. 56
- The Fire Dragon King ring provides equivalent command over fire. 56
- He can wield extreme ice-and-fire Soul Power inside his inner world at a level far beyond his external output. 8
- Assimilation with the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well gives him an immense source of recoverable Soul Power. 73
Spiritual Power and Purple Demon Eyes
Mu Zhe actively trains his Spiritual Power through shadow control and Tang San’s Purple Demon Eyes technique. 43 55
- Reaches Micro-observation, the second stage of Purple Demon Eyes, in one month. 43
- His Spiritual Power is comparable to a low-level Soul Emperor during the attack on his Heaven Dou City courtyard. 43
- Consuming the Gazing Through Autumn Waters Dew advances his Purple Demon Eyes to Mustard Seed, enabling him to see through illusions. 51
- At full strength, he believes his Spiritual Power and second Soul Skill could reduce a Soul Sage to an idiot. 51
- By level 53, his Spiritual Power has reached Titled Douluo level. 56
Soul Bone Skills
The Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone provides exceptional mobility and recovery. 7
- Flight — grants aerial mobility; Mu Zhe can use it in the Void State. 7 33
- Wildfire Cannot Burn It Out, Spring Wind Brings It Back to Life — heals physical injuries and can regenerate severed limbs. 7
Soul Devouring Spider Lance
Mu Zhe’s external soul bone manifests as eight green-glowing spider-leg spurs nearly two meters long. 29
- Greatly improves his physical attributes and piercing power. 60
- Can pierce spirit-beast defenses that his shadows struggle to damage. 60
