Tantai Qingrun was appointed Tower Master of Yuanshan Tower roughly three years before the Underworld operation in Yuanshan City. Despite her comparatively short tenure, she leads the local branch of Zhishou Tower, the covert organization dedicated to opposing the Underworld. Jiang Rong, the long-serving vice tower master, considers her more patient and clear-headed than when she first arrived. 19 21

Lu Qingshan identifies her as a Sword Cultivator and discovers that she possesses the rare Heavenly Spiritual Root, a talent that doubles experience gained through cultivation. He concludes that this gives her exceptional potential as a conventional cultivator, who must improve through cultivation rather than combat experience. 19

She subsequently agrees to give Lu Qingshan custody of the Blood Corpse True Person after interrogation in exchange for his continued intelligence. His warning that the Underworld seeks Qi Yuan's Heavenly Mystery Mirror Fragment redirects Yuanshan Tower's attention to the larger conspiracy. 21 22

Battle at the City Lord's Mansion

After Jiang Rong verifies the Blood Pool's Illusion Array, Tantai Qingrun contacts Qi Yuan and helps prepare a countermeasure rather than prematurely disturbing the site. 29
