Background and History
Wushi was born to Gu Shaoshang and the Queen Mother of the West at Jade Pool. Because he was born a Saint, his mother feared that beginning cultivation with such power would leave deficiencies in his mastery of the secret realms. She severed part of his foundation so he could cultivate them step by step; even afterward, his foundation surpassed that of ordinary people 646.
His parents taught him the Western Empress Scripture and Six Paths Samsara Fist. They then traveled with him and his black dog before sealing both in Immortal Source for a later generation. Wushi understood and accepted their decision, though both parents found the separation painful 647 648.
In that later era, he became a Great Emperor renowned for sweeping aside opponents and suppressing existences from the forbidden zones. Purple Mountain became the site of his mausoleum and the Wushi Scripture. After his disappearance, his survival was revealed when he fought the Undying Heavenly Emperor in a strange world beyond the Flying Immortal Waterfall 661 690.
Wushi later fought alongside Ye Fan in support of Gu Shaoshang. Following the removal of his long-standing enemy, the Undying Heavenly Emperor, he entered seclusion in the Immortal Realm 719 791.
Appearance
- As a child: Described with a small, rounded face and chubby hands 646 647.
- As an adult: Tall and straight-backed, with thick black hair, a heroic face, and an imposing bearing 883 971.
- In battle: Often appears amid Chaos Qi, Immortal Light, and manifested Dao principles 883 793.
Personality
Wushi accepted his parents’ decision to seal him despite his young age. As an adult, he is calm and sparing with words: he gave his name without turning to face the Biyou Palace disciples, and later reported the outcome of a fight simply as “Already killed” 647 883 963. He also remained composed when faced with the difficult implications of his path toward Hunyuan 1593.
