After guiding Leono to the building filled with hanging corpses, Adam hurried into Dr. Wade's laboratory. He knew that if Naberius wanted to resurrect the corpses, he could only rely on Wade, who had read Frankenstein's entire experimental notes.
Since Wade was now in Naberius's hands, and considering the demon's impatience, Adam believed that Wade and Naberius had to be conducting the Resurrected Corpse experiment in the laboratory right now.
Holding two blades, Adam charged mindlessly into the laboratory and faced Naberius alone.
Naberius was quite surprised. He glanced at Adam's weapons and found them somewhat amusing. "Who gave you the courage to face a noble Demon Prince? Or did Frankenstein forget to activate your brain when he brought you back to life?"
As Naberius approached Adam, he tried to lower Adam's guard. "Frankenstein, it's wonderful that you've returned."
Adam said with a fierce expression, "I came back to destroy you and your experiment. Gargoyle Monastery will endure forever, and humanity will not perish."
Naberius raised an eyebrow and said disdainfully, "I have no idea how many laboratories like this I have around the world. As for the monastery and humanity..."
As Naberius revealed his demonic form, he said, "No one can stop them from perishing alongside a monster like you."
Though Adam had been born a Flesh Golem and possessed strength and speed far beyond humans, once Naberius assumed his demonic form, Adam only managed to cut three slashes across Naberius's abdomen, leaving wounds in the shape of a "three," before Naberius sent him flying with a single shove.
Nearby, Dr. Wade had spotted an opportunity and was about to stop the experiment, but before she could finish operating the computer, Naberius seized her by the throat. "Too late, Dr. Wade. We already have all the useful data."
With that, Naberius flung Wade toward a machine crackling with electrical arcs.
Seeing his only companion who acknowledged him about to be burned to death by the arcs, Adam hurriedly got up and dove toward Wade, shoving her away from the dangerous electricity.
Naberius found it rather amusing. A monster actually has the time to chase girls while fighting me? That's far too disrespectful.
Naberius walked up to Adam, who had been injured by the electrical arcs. With one hand gripping Adam's throat, he used blood to draw Magic Runes on Adam's forehead, intending to let a Vengeful Spirit possess him. "I knew you would return. You have always been alone. I know what you want. I'll make hundreds, thousands of you. I've been collecting human corpses for centuries. Once the corpses are resurrected, I can summon an army from Hell. You will be a member of my army."
"You will no longer be alone~"
With that, Naberius lifted Adam and loudly began chanting the spell to summon Vengeful Spirits.
Elsewhere, Li Feng had just spread out the scroll and hidden nearby when he saw an old man with shriveled skin and graying hair hurry out of the building. The man wore a simple biohazard suit and clutched an external hard drive.
Li Feng grinned silently. As he stepped out of hiding, he snapped his fingers, and an irregular glass wall instantly appeared in front of the old man.
The old man froze for a moment, then turned to look at the long blade in Li Feng's hand. Putting on a panicked, frightened expression, he said, "Who are you? I'm just an old man who watches over corpses. Please spare me."
Li Feng pointed at the irregular glass walls around them. "This is the Mirror Dimension. Without my permission, you'll never get out for the rest of your life. Don't even think about returning to Hell."
He then pointed to the scroll on the ground. "You have two choices now. Crawl into the seal willingly, or let me cripple you before I seal you."
The old man knew very well that gargoyles could not see through a demon's true form. He believed that this young man with the little belly before him likewise could not tell whether he was a demon or a human. As for the supposed seal, he assumed Li Feng was merely bluffing.
With that thought, the old man pulled a bitter face and said tremblingly, "I don't know what you're talking about..."
Before the old man could finish, Li Feng had already shot a playing card at him. Sensing the energy on it, the old man instinctively twisted aside with a reaction speed far beyond that of an ordinary human, dodging the card.
Li Feng whistled. After suppressing the flames on his long blade, he said, "Wow, you're pretty nimble for someone your age. Got any secrets to a long life? Tell me so I can live a few more years too."
"Also, I know who you are. On the surface, the Resurrected Corpse experiment was carried out in Dr. Wade's laboratory, but secretly, under Naberius's orders, you've been copying Dr. Wade's experiment all along. I know the computer in your workshop is connected to Wade's computer, allowing you to complete the Resurrected Corpse experiment simultaneously."
Li Feng pointed his long blade at the USB Drive in the old man's hand. "If I'm not mistaken, that little thing contains the data for resurrecting corpses, right?"
Seeing Li Feng's stance, the old man knew his disguise had become useless.
His identity, the USB Drive—his opponent knew everything. The old man simply revealed his hideous demonic form. "Once you descend into Hell, I'll make sure you live a long life—while roasting you over Hellfire forever."
With that, the old man charged fiercely at Li Feng. Without a second thought, Li Feng fired another playing card. As he raised his blade and rushed toward the old man, he secretly prepared a Time Spell.
What he wanted was to seal a rational demon capable of communicating through language, not a flame-like demonic soul that could not communicate. Therefore, as Li Feng slashed at the old man, he carefully controlled his strikes, cutting only the old man's limbs while avoiding his head and heart.
Despite his gray hair and advanced age, the old man was far more skilled than those low-ranking demons. If Li Feng's long blade had not been capable of harming him, then in a bare-handed fight, it would have been hard to say who would live and who would die.
After another exchange, Li Feng carefully avoided one of the old man's attacks and swiftly swung his blade, forcing the old man to dodge in the direction he had anticipated. At the same time, he fired the prepared Time Spell at him, slowing time around the old man.
As the old man stared in bewilderment at his movements slowing as though he were in a movie's slow-motion scene, Li Feng quickly severed his limbs. Before the old man could break free of the time-slowing spell, Li Feng immediately activated the scroll on the ground.
Under Li Feng's control, the scroll emitted an inexplicable suction force and pulled the dull-witted old man into it.
Seeing that the old man had been sealed, Li Feng let out a long breath. He picked up the USB Drive from the ground, tied up the scroll, and tucked it into his clothes.
The moment Li Feng opened a Portal and stepped out of the Mirror Dimension, he saw red light filling the building before him. He paused, then curled his lip. "Each red light represents a Vengeful Spirit. Sure, there are a lot of you, but what's the point? Don't you know Leono and the others each have a copy of The Key of Solomon now? Are you planning to breathe human air for a few seconds before being sent straight back to Hell?"
Before Li Feng had even finished complaining, he vaguely heard gargoyles inside the building loudly chanting spells from The Key of Solomon.
After a while, Li Feng, who was sitting on the steps at the entrance recovering Mana, sensed that something was wrong. Although the gargoyles' spells had eliminated many weaker Vengeful Spirits, some powerful ones continued pouring out of Hell without end.
Li Feng immediately understood what was happening. The Key of Solomon in the gargoyles' hands was, after all, a Copy. Compared with the original, which contained magical power, its spells were naturally much weaker.
With that in mind, Li Feng got up and ran into the building. While searching for Leono, he held the original The Key of Solomon high and shouted, "Queen Leono, take this copy of The Key of Solomon and chant the spell!"
Leono, who had been busy destroying corpses to prevent demons from possessing them, suddenly heard Li Feng's voice. She instinctively looked at the book in his hand, then immediately flew over to him. After thanking him, she quickly turned to the page containing the spell that restrained Vengeful Spirits.
Soon, Leono held The Key of Solomon in both hands and loudly chanted the spell at the Fireballs representing demonic souls.
The first person Li Feng had seen chant from The Key of Solomon was Ophiel. He remembered that when Ophiel chanted, his gray skin had turned completely white. But this Gargoyle Queen's chanting was something else entirely.
First came holiness. Li Feng had no idea why, but as he watched Leono chant, he felt that she was the most beautiful woman in the world. Even looking at her seemed like a desecration.
Then came the changes to Leono's body. If her gargoyle form had previously still looked somewhat like a plaster statue, feathers were now slowly growing from her wings, and her skin had become crystalline and translucent.
At that moment, Leono seemed no longer to be a gargoyle, but a true angel.
Li Feng was, after all, a Mage with powerful mental strength. The moment he sensed something strange, he immediately shifted his gaze to the corpses.
Wiping the cold sweat from his forehead, Li Feng cursed inwardly, What the hell is this? It's one thing for Leono to turn into an angel lookalike, but where did this seductive power come from? I almost converted and gave up being a Mage to become a priest.
And this world's God too—what, is Leono your biological daughter or granddaughter? You knew she was about to be surrounded by Vengeful Spirits, so you gave her this much energy? At this point, forget sending these Vengeful Spirits back to Hell. Under this wave of energy, I bet every last one of them will stay on Earth as ashes. The problem is, Earth doesn't need this little bit of fertilizer. Could you please take back some of that energy, old man? I'm scared out of my wits.
God's energy bestowed upon Leono made Li Feng, who wielded Dark Energy, feel uncomfortable all over. It felt as though God was not only planning to wipe out this batch of Demons, but also to take Li Feng out while he was at it. His eyelid twitched slightly as he turned and ran out of the building. I can't stay here. Was it easy for me to kindly bring you The Key of Solomon?
Not long after he ran out of the building, five enormous Soul Fireballs shot into the sky. After merging into an even larger Soul Fireball in midair, they hurtled toward the underground level of the building where the corpses were stored.
Li Feng's mouth twitched. Patting his chest, he muttered to himself, "Damn it, I almost forgot about that."
What had Li Feng forgotten? He had forgotten that just as Adam was about to be completely possessed by the evil spirit, his soul would suddenly burst free from its shell and drive the evil spirit out of his body. At the same time, he would pick up a piece of metal from the ground and stab Naberius with it, then slash from Naberius's lower abdomen up to his Adam's apple, turning the symbol resembling a "three" on Naberius into the demon-suppressing "abundance" character.
The moment the "abundance" symbol was completed, Naberius immediately transformed into five Soul Fireballs and was sent back to Hell.
As for why drawing the "abundance" character could kill Naberius, Li Feng could only say that the rules of this world were just that damned absurd. What could he do about it?
