Background

Early life and prior life

Bibi Dong was orphaned and raised by Spirit Hall. After awakening her martial soul at age six, she became Qian Xunji's personal disciple and was positioned as his prospective successor. At seventeen, she met Yu Xiaogang and wished to leave Spirit Hall with him, only for Qian Xunji to oppose the relationship. 59

Her history with Qian Xunji and the circumstances surrounding Qian Renxue's birth left her unable to accept her daughter for a long time, despite loving her. Her attachment to Yu Xiaogang likewise became an enduring obsession and a link to her former self. 3 7 31

Reconciliation with Qian Renxue

Initially suspicious of Shen Nuonuo and wary of the knowledge contained in her unheard “heart voice,” Bibi Dong nevertheless sought out Qian Renxue and apologized to her. The mother and daughter reconciled, beginning a sustained change in their relationship. 31

Bibi Dong later celebrated Qian Renxue's birthday with her for the first time, cooked longevity noodles, gifted her a jade necklace, and promised to be present for future birthdays. She comes to recognize that Qian Renxue was an innocent child whom she had wrongly neglected. 53 54
