Background / History

Under Holy Kaisha, the Angel Civilization became one of the universe's dominant powers. Its Justice Order protected weak civilizations and restrained destructive weapons, colonization, and warfare among advanced civilizations. This protection also made the Angels widely resented by civilizations that viewed their rule as overbearing interference. 59 87

Kaisha fundamentally transformed the female angels through the creation of the Holy Gene, the basis of their power. Male Angels became obsolete within the civilization's main hierarchy; after their defeat, Kaisha exiled them rather than annihilating them, causing most to hide across the known universe. 140 188 252

The Angels renewed contact with Earth when Yan descended at Angel International, warning humanity that forces from the Styx Galaxy were approaching. Kaisha later arrived with an angelic entourage, easily bypassing Earth's Aegis Shield. 58 102

Kaisha's death at Karl's hands shattered the Angels' central authority. Yan became temporary Angel King, while surviving angels sought energy, treatment, and political support from the Pan-Human Federation. 112 120 121

Ideology

The Angels serve the Justice Order established by Kaisha. Its stated principles include protecting beauty, safeguarding the weak, and maintaining universal order. Angels are expected to sacrifice themselves in service of these ideals. 102 232

This ideology is not uniformly accepted within the civilization. Many older angels predate Kaisha's Justice Order and primarily fight for the survival of the Angel Civilization rather than belief in justice itself. 281

The Angel Civilization also forbids angelic resurrection. Kaisha believed that those responsible for maintaining order must lead by example and accept the cycle of life and death. 308
